Am I death?

ON A PLANET NAMED EARTH,

A young boy Ethan stood at the edge of the balcony glaring at the night sky and wondered how the moon hung high in the pitch-black sky,its pale light casting shadows through the gnarled branches of old Oak tree.

The wind rushed with a chilling and almost a mournful sound,the silence was defeaning,the air was thick with an unshakable sense of foreboding as if night itself was alive and watching wating for something to happen,the very next moment.

While he was admiring the beauty of night sky,he felt a sudden thrust applied at his back,he turned to see but it was too late

as he lost his balance at the edge of the balcony.

His arms flailed wildly, desperately trying to grab the empty air,Time seemed to be slow as he tipped forward and his eyes wide with terror.

The wind rushed past him, his body twisted

and turned into freefall,the ground rushed upon to meet him with a terrifying speed.

Suddenly a screen like projection appeared in his mind-

He hitted the ground with a sickening thud,the impact reverberating through the silent night.

His body lay twisted and unbroken,limbs spread around at Unnatural angles.Blood pooled beneath her,a dark spreading stain at the cold pavement.

His eyes wide with terror stared blankly into the void,lifeless.

The final exhalation of breath escaped his lips with a faint,almost inaudible sigh.The night seemed to hold its breath as if mourning the sudden end of a fragile existence.

The next moment his eyes flutterely opened revealing an endless expanse of blinding white.He blinked rapidly trying to make sense of the unknown surroundings.

As his vision cleared,he stood up and noticed a figure standing before him- a tall,stern looking old man with deep-set and wise eyes.

The man's presence was imposing.Dressed in a long white robe,the figure's expression were somewhat both familiar and unfamiliar.

The old figure standing before him spoke

"SAY...

EVER HEARD ABOUT MONARCHS?"

"But who are you and why I am here?"

"THAT DOESN'T MATTER NOW JUST ANSWER MY QUESTIONS"

"Okay"

"EVER HEARD ABOUT MONARCHS?"

"Yes-yes but i have only read about them in fantasy novels,those rulers like Shadow Monarch,Eclipse Monarch or Dragon Monarch?!"

"YES-YES,YOU SURE KNOW YOUR STUFF"

As the old figure said that,the ground beneath Ethan vanished and a portal appeared there,Ethan unaware of that suddenly fell in the portal and got surrounded by an impenetrable darkness.

Up,down,left,right-All directions were indistinguishable in the unending blackness.

The silence was defeaning,a heavy oppressive quiet that pressed in all directions.

There were no sounds to break the defeaning,The only sounds were rhythmic beating of his heart and his exhalation both seeming unnaturally loud in the stillness.

His body drifted,limbs occasionally swayed as though through water and his consciousness faded slowly.

The next moment I opened my eyes,I felt incredibly small.

I struggled to open my eyes but when I finally did the world appeared as a blue of soft colors and shifting shapes.

The ceiling appeared above,an expanse of whiteness,the sounds around me gradually sharpened into distinct voices which were gentle,conforming but filled with awe.

A pair of eyes peered at me,which was accompanied by a radiant smile.

I glanced around the room, amazed by the many eyes which stared at me with a sense of curiosity,indeed I was surrounded by a group of people which I expected were my family members.

Satisfied by the work of that old man,i gave a quick and subtle smile and closed my eyes to sleep as I was feeling tired.

After a while,I opened my eyes but was surprised to see no one around.

Taking the advantage of the opportunity i tried to talk with the system.

"System?"

No respond

No respond

"Hoy,system~?"

No voice echoed

Unable to speak as a newborn baby, I called the system in my mind,thinking it would also be a convenient approach.

"Why the system is not responding?"

"Did that old geezer fooled me?"

With a sense of curiosity and enragement,I questioned myself lying on the bed and slept again.
