|04| Entering Chaos

LEWY

Thankfully the picnic went on as cool and lively as we all intended it to be.

Before the sky started to wane into yellow-orange, my socialising adventure with Nate's peers was surprisingly smooth. The typical jabs of high school were still unavoidable, that's for sure, but it wasn't overwhelming or anything.

Yet, this was one moment that I could only enjoy. I meant, I'd expect to screw myself up in any occasion at any time as a teenager, but with Nate around, hell no. I foolishly let my closet ajar and then, to my deepest gratitude and by Lady Luck's grace, Mike'd been keeping the burner low and contained to himself. You'd think a possibly hot-headed football jock would turn this day to my final day of sanity. No. So he didn't out me and we let the picnic sailed in peace the whole time, and we still talked as if that conversation never happened.

I'd imagine he did it out of loyalty to Nate, in which, again, proved that Nate was my safety pillar. Whatever his problem was, I hoped he'd reconsider his sentiment about it. Because I personally find his company warming, and I could see why he's Nate's closest friend. I should just shut my mouth at this point, until I felt safe again to open that closet of mine.

But for now, in case there's a ruse, you know, a "ruse", maybe I should go see him tonight.

We're back at Nate's unit and already bro was dealing with the cats' mess in the laundry room. The living blobs were bothering him in his cleaning duties but since they're cute, bushy little assholes (no innuendos intended, you silly goose), Nate simply shrugged off their nosy attitude.

In the meantime, I'd been keeping that name card in my jeans pocket. So while my brother's busy and I was in the bathroom, I pulled the card out and held it up against the bathroom's light source. The address and demon symbol were still there like I remembered. So it's not that my head had been making a fool of myself. Then I'd know if the place did exist.

The name was Chaos. The location was underneath Clamour, which was an amenity block and I wouldn't have to get out of the residence's compound to reach there of course. There's no explicit statement of its working hours either. I'd take that as anytime. I could only hope that the blonde dude would be there by night.

So after I'd freshened up and left the bathroom, I found Nate feeding the cats near the balcony area and gave him a genuine but incomplete excuse to go fetch some goods at Clamour.

I began, 'Hey bro, I wanna grab some stuff at Clams. You want anything there?'

Nate was kneeling, caressing the back of those two furred balls as they chomped on the fish pellets. He turned his head to me and said, 'Sure. We're running out of bread and jam. So take ten from my wallet. It's at the kitchen counter. Don't take too long, yeah?' Mmm, such a sweet voice to be heard. And such a sweet thing to hear that from him...

Yeah Nate, hopefully it wouldn't take too long. So I displayed my best neutral face at him and said, 'No probs.' I did what he instructed me to do and left the unit. I'd never been so obedient in my life until Nate told me to do things for him. Hah hah.

The stroll to Clamour wasn't far and I wouldn't bother you with details of itself any more than I quickly had the supplies bought at the mini market standing at its flat roof. So I climbed down the zig-zag stairs from the roof and entered the parking lot at the end of the steps, a lot strictly for Mayhem and Bedlam's residents' vehicles, where Nate's Mustang was stationed.

That name card lay in wait within my right jeans pocket. The hidden address directed me to go to the right lift lobby and it wasn't the lifts that would bring me to Chaos. There weren't concealed levels on those button panels like I thought. It was the emergency double doors that stood beside the rightmost lift which would lead me the way there.
