The sound of the monitors seemed to be racing with the ticking of the clock. But it is very different from the movement of the father's chest which is so regular with the oxygen mask even though his eyes are still closed all the time. I held his cold hand which was stuck with an IV while continuing to pray, that God would soon answer my prayer.
There was the sound of footsteps, I turned around and found my mother standing behind while holding my sleeping child. His hand touched my shoulder and said,
"Go home, Em. You haven't slept in two days."
I shook my head weakly, looking at my father's face, who without realizing it had aged. The lines of wrinkles are so obvious, I'm sure dad is thinking about the problems that come to me. I am stupid.
"Mom just go home with Elsa. Momy is more tired than me."
"And you left Elsa alone? She needs you too, honey," my mother said. "Think about your health too, Em. Mom doesn't want you to get sick either."
