Entrance Examination (11): Sacrifical Altar.

"M-Me?" Kyla was stunned. "N-No. I'm not an awakened."

While she said those words, she looked in the other direction, not daring to meet Draven's eyes. Draven did not suspect anything and nodded his head in acknowledgment. Meanwhile, June stood beside Kyla and faced the countless skeletons, facing her back on her.

June's mouth opened and moved, as though she was talking to herself in a low voice, but Kyla heard it and was stunned.

Kiara did not spot their short interactions as her center of attention was on the skeletons, who were now placing pressure on them. They even felt that their space was getting smaller and limited, and it would not be long before they would be swallowed by the sheer quantity of living skeletons.

Suddenly, the pressure they had been worrying about decreased. Draven noticed the peculiarity and heaved a sigh of relief.

"Some other group probably entered the dungeon, and the skeletons caught their attention," said Draven. "We should move forward slowly."

The group slowly moved forward while Draven took the forefront, killing the most skeletons both of his fellow members killed combined. Meanwhile, Charles immediately moves forward once he notices he is a meter away from them. He also kept track of the skeleton behind and killed them once they attacked.

Kiara, on the other hand, slowed her attacks, for there was only half amount of arrow on her quiver. She needs to save most of them once they battled the boss. She was still not convinced by Draven's proclamation of killing the boss by himself. Just in case, she has to be on the safe side.

Kyla and June were silent as Kyla was getting distracted. She tried to entertain herself by looking at some grass on the ground, but all she saw was withered grass, and even trees were lacking nourishments and leaves.

The place was completely dead.

Not only that it was the place for the dead, but it was also the same for its environments. There were no Sun and Moon either, for there were only black and white, as though even color doesn't exist and might probably be dead.

"Stop letting your unconsciousness run wild," June sternly said. "Not raising your awareness will lead you in jeopardy. Always keep your eyes in front. Even walking at the side of the road while dawdling on a cell phone is dangerous."

Kyla nodded her head seriously and did not let her guard down. She suddenly felt safe earlier because June was protecting her, but she realized she would still hold responsibility for her safety.

"Stop," said Draven all of a sudden. "Looked forward."

The group first made sure there was no skeleton nearby, or near but still gave them time enough to distract what was before Draven.

They then noticed there looked like a sacrificial altar, with incomprehensible scribbles on the grounds and on the four pillars at every corner.

The area of what looked like a sacrificial altar was not vast as it could be compared to the battle platform in the Duel Arena at the Zeka high school.

However, despite the battle platform being created for a duel, it was still wide enough so that the duelist could move freely, not afraid of falling due to the limited space.

"Is that the boss?" June asked.

She was not the only one who noticed a person or looked like it was, sitting alone in the middle of the sacrificial altar, with a double-handed huge sword leaning at his chair. When all the members' gazes landed on him, its empty socket eyes suddenly raged with a blue flame.

Draven was startled as it reminded him of something.

Kyla, Kiara, and Charles were frightened under his gaze, and even June felt her heart beating much faster than before. Their instinct was screaming that the person was dangerous and they should not challenge him.

However, they were startled to see Draven walking at the sacrificial altar while meeting the person's gaze. They glanced at his face and saw a facial expression completely different from what he did not express before.

He was smiling like a maniac while her eyebrows arched in interest.

He looked like he wanted to battle with him. They thought at the same time, but they did not move to stop him or help him.

After all, their feet were stuck into the ground as they felt that if they moved, they would be killed in an instant.

They suddenly felt worried about something, and they immediately turned their head to their vicinity. They noticed that there was not a single moving skeleton near them, but they spotted some silhouettes looking in their direction before moving in the opposite direction.

It was as though they suddenly got disinterested in their prey, or they were probably afraid of something.

"Phew. We are safe," said Charles.

"Idiot who only knows how to chase girls." Kiara rolled her eyes. "Do you still not realize the situation we are in? Look in front! Why are you evading your eyes in the sacrificial altar?"

Kiara was fuming in anger at how Charles was acting. He clearly doesn't want to recognize that the boss was in front of them. After all, one look and everyone at their level would immediately acknowledge they were no foe against such an unknown and probably powerful existence.

"Let him be." June shook her head. "We should at least watch the battle unfolding before our eyes. We can then witness where our leader's overconfidence comes from."

"B-But what if he can't handle it alone?" Kyla asked.

"If he can't hand it alone, then we will help." Charles wanted to speak, but June continued. "If he died there, or got defeated miserably, then we are already dead." June smiled.

Kyla, Kiara, and Charles felt their hair stand on the ends. Sweats rolled down their forehead as they looked at Draven with hopeful eyes.

"But if the other group manages to reach the location before our leader's death. Then we can ask for their help," said June.

"You're right!" Charles's eyes sparkled. He then looked in the opposite direction where they came from and shouted. "Here! The boss is here! The boss is here!!!"

"Idiot!" Kiara smacked Charles. "Don't keep shouting. Look! The person's eyes are now on you!"

Charles immediately shut his mouth, and turned his body but kept his eyes low on the ground. He did not dare to meet the person's eyes, who was actually still looking at Draven, who was about to step on the altar.

Kiara giggled, and Kyla lightly chuckled. The previous depressing and tense atmosphere soothed up. June looked at them briefly before staring at Draven with a complicated gaze.

"Well, he might handle it."
