Four months later:-

'The school is gonna be over in a couple of months and when the hell are you going to propose her?' Mike scolded me.

I had called Mike during the night since he was absent that day.

Mike is right. I do not have much time. I should do it ASAP. Tomorrow! I'll tell Adah everything tomorrow.

'Tomorrow.' I said.

'What!?' he asked.

'Yeah.'

'Why tomorrow? What's so special about it?'

'Annual day.'

'Oh yeah.' Mike said.

'Will you help me?' I asked.

'What help do you want?'

'I want you to prepare a proposal speech.' I said.

'Proposal speech? Are you mad? While you propose, you just say what you feel about her. You don't have to learn a speech. This is not a conference meeting.' Mike said

'Yeah, you're right.' I said.

I was thinking of what I would say to her when I propose her. Then I decided that I would say whatever that comes in my mind at that time when I see her.

Aman, please do not create any blunders tomorrow.

Next day, we had to go to school at 6:00 p.m. We were not allowed to take part in any programmes since we were in 12th standard. That day I went to school by my cycle. Mike had came to my house in his cycle and we had went together. Adah had tried to convince me to accompany her in her car as usual but I had made an excuse saying that I wanted a change.

When I reached my school, I saw Adah walking few metres ahead of us. Her back was facing me. I couldn't make out what she was wearing since it was a very dark evening. Mike patted me and signalled me to go on.

'Excuse me.' I called out to her.

She turned a little. I couldn't see her face.

Ughh....I wanted to see how she looked that day.

'I wanted to tell you something.' I said.

'What is it?' she asked.

Her voice seemed different.

What happened to her voice? Ahh.... Never mind.

I closed my eyes.

'I have been wanting to tell this to you for a very long time. Since the day I first saw you, I fell for you at the first sight. I couldn't focus on anything but you. You were all that was in my mind. I have been wanting to tell you that I love you. I completely, wholeheartedly love you.' I said as I knelt down. My eyes was still closed. After a few seconds of silence, I opened my eyes and I didn't saw what I had expected. The person standing in front of me wasn't Adah, instead it was Anjali, a girl from our class stood there. In the dark, I had failed to recognize her and had thought that she was Adah.

Anjali was looking at me through teary eyes and a smile on her face.

'Oh no, I'm sorry.' I said, not knowing what to do.

She smiled.

'I love you too.' she said.

'No no no no no... I wasn't going to propose you.' I said.

'What?' she asked.

'I'm so sorry... I was actually going to propose Adah and I mistook you for Adah. I am really really really sorry.' I said.

'Oh... It's okay.' she said and went away. She looked hurt.

You did create a blunder, Aman. You are a fool. You are a bloody fool.

When I turned around, I saw Mike laughing uncontrollably.

'It's not funny okay.' I said.

'It may not be funny for you, but it is for me.' he said.

I sighed in anger.

'We mistook her for Adah. She really looked like her in the dark.' he said.

'Yeah. And I had closed my eyes while I was proposing her.' I said.

He started laughing again.

'Now what happened?' I asked.

'Nothing. Who proposes a girl closing his eyes?' he asked.

'She even accepted the proposal!!' I exclaimed.

'That's not surprising. Anyone who would have stood in her place would have accepted it. You are the Mr. Charming Gentleman.' he said.

'What?' I asked.

'That's what most of the girls call you. Tina told me.' he said.

My eyes went up and I suppressed my smile.

'I can feel you blushing.' Mike said.

'What?.... No no.' I said.

'I can catch your lies.' he said.

'Whatever.' I shrugged.

Next, I searched for Adah and found her but she was surrounded by her friends and I couldn't get a moment alone with her.

'You had told that you would propose her today itself but you didn't.' Mike said.

'First of all, that scene with Anjali destroyed my courage and now she is packed around by her girlfriends. No chance.' I said.

"I knew you would not propose her today.' Mike said.

'I didn't do it on purpose.' I said.

I had been creating blunders for the last few days. Ayesha was thinking that I liked her since I helped her by telling the truth about Ryan. Also, I had accidentally proposed Anjali, thinking that she was Adah.

'What's your plan now?' Mike asked.

'I don't know. Ayesha is behind me now, that's the problem.' I said.

'Lucky boy.' he said with a wink.

'What's so lucky in it? I want Adah but I have Ayesha buzzing around me like a bee which I don't want.' I said.

'That's one thing. But many girls are head over heels in love with you.' he said.

'Whatever.' I said, smiling.

'I can see you blushing.'

'It's called smiling.' I frowned.

He winked.

When will I overcome my fears and succeed? I don't know.
