Chapter 16: Fever

Wexford Greige POV

I have been waiting for my girlfriend here in office from over twenty minutes. Athena is still not coming. I expect her to come so we can have lunch together. I still waited for her again, maybe he's really busy right now. It's been five minutes have passed she still not coming.

I tried to calm myself instead of worrying. It couldn't wait any longer and I called my girlfriend.

She is not answering my call so I started to worry about her. I tried twice but she's not responding. A few seconds, it popped my mind about Athena's secretary, Terylene. I called her number registered to my phone until it rang and finally answered.

"Hi, Terylene." As I said. "Where is Athena? I said in a quick but she didn't respond.

It's a few seconds before Terylene have spoken.

She cleared her voice, "Ahm, Ma'am Athena is ....." I heard her stuttering so it made me worry.

"Terylene, what happened?" I directly said to the secretary. It feels me more anxious. My heart is beating so fast. "Because, Ma'am Athena ......"

Terylene's voice is stammering so I was frankly spoken.

"Tery, tell me what happened. So please make your voice clear?" I stated again in a worry.

She sighed before continuing to response, "Because Sir Greige, Ma'am Athena is burning with fever right now ...." I couldn't wait for the next thing she would say.

I immediately thanked and hung up the phone. I'm going to Athena today. My employees were just shocked of my sudden departure. They had many questions especially my secretary but they heard no answer from me. I will tell my secretary later about this. As of now, Athena needs my presence. Maybe, I'm the only one who can cure her.

I immediately arrived at their mansion and Yaya Helena greeted me. "Oh Sir Greige, have you been visited?" It surprised me unexpectedly as going to them.

"I heard that Athena has a fever. I want to see her if she is already ok." As explaining to Yaya Helena why I am unexpectedly came here.

"Is that so? She's in her room. Just go." As Yaya quickly answered me and I nodded.

"I'm going to see her. I can't wait to see Athena." I replied then she took me to Athena's room.

When I opened the door, I saw Terylene busy taking care of her.

"How is my girlfriend?" That was immediately my opening question to Athena's secretary.

"Sir, his fever is still a bit high and the doctor said earlier that she needs a break because of overfatigueness." Terylene telling me about my girlfriend’s condition that she sounds asleep right now.

"I'll be the one who can take care of her now, Tery. You can also go back to the work you left in the office."

The secretary nodded at me. "All right, sir."

Then, she left me and Athena. We were the only two here.

"I am so sorry, mi cielo. It's my fault why you have a high fever. I stressed you out too much." As I said while holding her hand and kissing it. "I promise that I won't do that again." I added.

I didn't notice that he was feeling bad. She was so brave to hide it from me.

Althaea Cassidy POV

I just woke up and surprised when I saw him. It was Greige sitting next to my bed. Why is he here? Didn’t he leave into the office? I can’t help but blame him right now. He ignore his job because of me. Eventually, he opened his eyes and also surprised to see me.

"Are you still awake?" He asked with full of concern.

"I just woke up ..." then he waved at me and checked my condition to see if it was okay.

"You still have a fever." he says.

"How did you know I am sick?" I asked him again in astonishment. "How's your work in the office?"

"Relax, mi cielo. You won't get better if you stress yourself too much." He was calming me down.

I just don't want him to give me so much importance that he willing to put aside his work because I'm sick.

"But I really don't like this ...." I tried to explain to him what I wanted to say. "You don't have to sacrifice your work for me. That's not right. I can do it so you don't have to worry."

"Mi cielo, as I've said earlier you don't have to be worried about this. I can handle my job because I am one of the superior in the company. I can manage my time there." Still trying to convince me eventhough it is not right decision.

"But ...." He immediately blocked me from saying anything.

"No buts." Then, he smiled at me less sweetly.

He is so sweet right now unlike before. All I can say is that he change a lot. Therefore, it seems I am more in love with him.

A few seconds, my sister came to my mind. Yeah, after Athena is awaken hoping for Greige still like this. I couldn’t help but felt sad of what I was thinking. I really love him as if I can't handle when I'm away from him. I have no choice but it has to be done for the sake of my twin.

"Hey, mi cielo." I just went back to trance when Greige startled me. "You're thinking again, tzk." He further complained to me.

"Don't stress out yourself, please? Instead of getting better you'll only get sicker. Think of yourself first, Athena." She's really sweet now so I can't help but smile at him.

"Don't smile at me like that. You already know what's I will do next." I suddenly slapped him on the arm and he screamed.

"What is the reason of your smile?" He asked me but I did not answer. Just guess if he's really good.

"Nothing." That's my only answer.

"Why don't you admit to me that I am so handsome in this look?" I frowned as I avoided looking at him.

In the middle of our conversation, Yaya also arrived with the food. "Sir Greige requested me to cook you this." The statement of Yaya Helena after laying down the dishes.

"Really, mi cielo?" I can't believe the question so I still look at Yaya Helena and Greige.

"Yes, Athena to speed up your recovery." For a few moments I looked at the clock and noticed that it was one o'clock in the afternoon.

"Greige?" I said the reason for him to look at me while he was busy eating. "Don't you have really plan to go back to the office?"

"I'll watch over you here, Athena until you're getting better." Then, he went back to eating again.

"No. You can't stay here." I disagree with him.

"Don't you want me to be able to sleep with your side?" He asked with a grin on his face to strike him on the shoulder again.

"Crazy." I said.

"Crazy inlove with you." He chuckled.

"Your company needs you now." Explaining to him but he doesn't budge.

"You need me more, mi cielo." He put us away the plates we used. "Greige, Yaya is here to check on me." I never stopped convincing him but still no effect.

"No, I will stay here as long as you will be ok. Don't insist anymore but I will get angry." I shocked and wanted to argue but it didn't work with him.

"Here, take your medicine first." He simply handed me the medicine and I immediately took it.

Greige stayed here at home for a few days until I recovered. He did nothing wrong in taking care of me. Greige was ready to stay awake just to take care of me. I fall too much into what he does. I never thought he had this side. I made the mistake of getting to know him.

But on the fourth day, I let him to ŕeturn into his job because I knew he had a lot of works to do at their company. I told him too I was feeling fine. It still need a little rest so I don't get overwhelmed.

My real boyfriend’s sudden called to me that caught my attention.

Zen: Wifey, how are you? (Then he examined my face and spoke again). What happened?

Me: Why?

Zen: It seems like you're not feeling well.

Me: Actually, I just recovered from fever. (He startled of what I said)

Zen: Are you serious?

Me: Yes.

Zen: But how's your condition righr now?

Me: I'm fine. I just don't force myself to work so that I don't get overwhelmed.

Zen: Did no one can take care of you when you were sick? (I don't know how to tell him. I really don't want to lie anymore)

Me: Yes.

Zen: Who?

Me: Greige.

Zen: Is that your sister's boyfriend?

Me: Yes (I'm embarrassed by the answer)

Zen: I see. But I can't help being jealous of her wifey. I should be there to take care of you. (He looks sad so I can't stare on him directly. I feel sorry for my boyfriend so much)

Me: Hubby ....

Zen: I must be your reason for your recovery.

Me: Hubby, don't hurt yourself.

Zen: But, I can’t avoid wifey. You know I missed you so much right away. I'm also not comfortable that you're with your twin's boyfriend.

Me: Don't worry. I can go back there too. Athena will wake up. We can start again. (I feel so sad while saying this)

Zen: Hopefully, wifey. I am excited to meet and be with you again.

During the whole conversation between Zen and me, I didn't realize that it was already eight o'clock in the evening and he noticed that.

Zen: Good night. Go to sleep, wifey and I'll go to sleep too because it will be up early tomorrow.

After that we said goodbye to each other and turned off the phone. I felt my stomach growl as I walked down the stairs. I haven't eaten dinner yet. After eating, I went back to the bedroom and washed first before deciding to go asleep.
