39. Discussion

On Sunday, some high-rank officers from The Central Hunter Bureau came to the hotel to meet Indra & Dewi. They got the best rooms in a 5 star hotel, so they can't refuse the meeting. Besides, Indra also wants to know what they want to talk about.

The ones who meet them are the Hunter Bureau's Director, Deputy Director, and their secretaries. The Director isn't an awakener, but the Deputy Director is an A-Rank while their secretaries are C-Ranks. Also, while the Director is a middle-aged man, the Deputy Director & the secretaries still look young.

"How's your stay, Young Master and Young Lady Smith?"

"It was great, I never slept in a 5 star hotel. The bed was so comfy."

"Same here. Thanks for all you've done for us."

"I am glad then. We should at least do something as small as this for our country's future top protectors."

"Right. Well, I don't like going around the bush. Let's just hear your true purpose of coming here."

"Haha, I will cut to the chase then. Young Master and Young Lady, do any of you interested in leading the Hunter Bureau?"

Indra & Dewi are quite surprised by this offer because they never thought the Director would ask them to replace him.

"You want one of us to replace you?"

"Yes, that's basically it. I am actually a Major General of the Army that was tasked by the President, the Minister of Defense and the General to lead the Hunter Bureau. But then we had a problem when S-Rank Hunters appeared."

"You can't control them."

"Control is too harsh. It's more of making us have at least the same or preferably a higher position than their Guilds. You might not know, but the 2 official S-Rank Hunters are really doing whatever they want. One of them even tried to make connections with you when you shouldn't be disturbed."

Indra looks at the Director with a rather surprised expression.

"I apologize for the inconvenience. The people from our side that were involved in this have been fired. We don't want this kind of thing to happen again."

"I like your decisiveness. But I don't see that as he does anything as he pleases."

"Well, he threatens those who wanted to refuse and forced them to sign the contracts. Their Guild members were also reported for bad behaviors like pressuring small Guilds to not bid for Gates so they could pay less and get more profit. But the Guild Master, the 2nd S-Rank, Mr. Doni uses his power to stop us from taking actions. It's difficult to punish them because they have the backing of many conglomerates & politicians."

"So you want to recruit an S-Rank to the Hunter Bureau to stop them?"

"Yes. If we have an S-Rank, then our position will be a lot higher. We think that they don't want to listen to us because they have more power than us. So they aren't afraid of us and even underestimate us. But it will be different if the one ordering them is also an S-Rank hunter."

That actually makes sense and it will really be bad if the Hunter Bureau can't even discipline a bad Guild. They will lose people's trust and the hunters will do whatever they want without anyone overseeing them.

"Sorry, but we don't want to do it. That position will only give us headaches as it will be full of political stuff. However, we can help you."

"You will help us, how?"

"We will try our abilities after testing our magic power again, right? I want you to invite him to supervise that. Just tell him you want him to oversee it in case we can't control our power."

"What do you want to do, little bro?"

"Just some discussions. Also, I have something to talk with you, Director. Both of us want to make a Guild and stay in Bali."

Indra still has more to say about how the rule of each province should only have 1 S-Ranker is such a bullshit. Instead of trying to make the S-Rankers happy and want to stay, they impose such a demanding rule.

"Isn't it said that an S-Ranker can destroy a city with ease? I thought it was an exaggeration, but after I awakened, I think I can do even more. What do you think you can do against such a force? Before the military can even move, an entire city will be flattened already. If all the S-Rankers are displeased, then money or positions can't protect you anymore. Think this through and give me the answer after the 2nd test."

Indra gets up and walks away, followed by his sister who is satisfied with the food taste, but not the amount. She is still hungry, so she wants to eat more somewhere else. But before they leave, Indra says another thing.

"You know, my dad was born in Australia. We have some relatives there. How long do you think it'll take for us to get Australian Passports? I won't be surprised to get a call from them right after I asked for it. Tell those high and mighty people that they can talk to me if they are not pleased with what I said. After all, what's an 18 y.o kid knows, right?"

Indra smirks as he leaves the room. The Director and the others are having dark expressions. They are not stupid and they are the ones handling the hunters directly. So they obviously have thought of those things and even talked with those politicians, but nothing worked.

"Director, does he want us to say all of those to the President even though he knows they will have a meeting after the 2nd test?"

"I think that's exactly what he wants. And not just the President. He wants all those politicians to know what he just said. Maybe he even wants to talk to them himself."

"Can he even change those self-centered people's minds?"

"I don't know, but I know for sure that he is not wrong and we'll lose a lot if we don't change our policy. Deputy Director, how many A-Rankers are needed to clear an A-Rank Gate?"

"If all the members are A-Ranks, then 15 people are enough, but if we want to be safe, then we need to send 20 A-Rankers or 15 A-Rankers with 10 B-Rankers."

"What province has the lowest number of A-Rankers?"

"Currently, it's North Maluku, Sir. They only have 8 A-Rankers."

"Have there been any outbreaks from A-Rank Gates there?"

"No, sir. They always asked for reinforcement from other provinces when they found A-Rank Gates. Some Guilds are more than happy to send some hunters because they can get more profit."

Just as Indra hopes for, everything he said will be reported to those high-ranking people. He's not afraid of offending them. After all, it should be them who are afraid of offending him.
