Chapter Two

Immediately Grace said that, "Bridget saw Rita emerge from one of the houses close to them.

Immediately Rita laid eyes on her former madam she snatched her baby and took to her heels

"Rita again?" Bridget thought as she slumped in her chair from the shock of the news she had just received.

What made it more surprising was that Bridget knew that her husband was no longer capable of fathering a child. The doctor had told them that.

However, there was no medical proof to dispute the fact that Samuel was not the father of the said child.

Bridget was heartbroken, but as she has always done to save her family, she took the pain and humiliation.

However, this time she decided to confront him on his excesses.

She decided not to cause a scene at the Thanksgiving program and so she didn't say anything there.

It took Samuel two weeks to return to his family as he was scared at their reaction to this new development.

When he arrived his wife had gone for her usual church activities. It was Udiel who received him and served him his meal.

Later in the evening, Bridget returned from her activities.

Later that night Udiel was in the living room playing with his fathers' old Dell laptop.

Suddenly he heard his mother's voice; "Samuel do you want to kill me? Do you want to kill me?" She screamed

Instinctively he jumped out of the couch, not minding if the laptop will be destroyed, and sprinted down the hallway into his parents' bedroom.

The sight he met was one that got his blood boiling with anger.

He met his father on top of his mother strangling her.

He immediately ran towards the father and pull him off his mum.

"What the hell do you think you are doing Udiel" his father screamed.

Udiel was seventeen going on eighteen. He was now a man in his own right. " I am protecting my mother" Udiel retorted. "This is abuse father!"

"So you want to fight me your father?" Samuel asked Udiel.

"Are you going to beat your own Father?" He asked

"I will never ever beat you up, dad, but I will not watch you beat up my mother! I am no more a kid".

Udiels response resulted in a hot slap on his face.

Udiel did not feel the sting of the slap as the raging anger he was feeling blocked the pain.

Samuel started punching his son and Udiel held up his father's hands to prevent him from the continuous beating.

"Oh! you going to fight me now right?" Samuel asked.

"I will never fight you. You are my dad and I respect that fact" Udiel said as he let go of his father and went to meet his mother.

She was crying quietly and began sobbing into his shirt.

"Don't worry mum, he is never going to touch you again. I will not let that happen". Udiel said as he put his hands around her.

"Thank you, my son. You just saved me". She said through her little sobs

Samuel emerged from the room with his bags and stormed out, of the house into his car, and then zoomed off
