Chapter Two

"Rosa."

I heard a soft voice whisper beside me.

I thought that maybe it was all a dream. That maybe it was my lack of sleep the last couple of weeks that was catching up to me and that my mind was just playing tricks on me.

But as a soft smooth hand clasped around mine.

I realised that this was no where near to being a dream.

"Rosa, please wake up."

The soft voice pleaded softly.

I was really in the body of Rosalind Blackwood— the maid and only friend to Anastasia Vasilev, the main antagonist of the novel, 'The Forgotten Prophecy'.

The memories of Rosalind flashed through my mind like a movie, displaying every moment of Rosalind's childhood to this very moment.

I sat up slowly, the weight of these new memories pressing down on me.

I now understood the lavish room, the girl with the striking emerald eyes, and the startling reflection in the mirror.

The girl, Anastasia sat in a chair beside the bed holding onto Rosalind's—my—hand.

She raised her head up at the sound of my movement, her eyes filling with relief.

"Rosa, you scared me."

She said as she pulled me in for a tight hug.

"How are you feeling?" She asked pulling away and putting her hands on my cheek to examine my face.

I swallowed hard, trying to process everything. "I… I'm okay, my lady," I managed to say, my voice shaky.

"That's good." She spoke softly with a small smile, "I was so worried something bad had happened to my only friend."

Her innocent smile caught my off guard.

While reading the novel, both the Emperor and Saintess had described Anastasia as an evil girl with a tainted heart.

Yet all the memories I had of her from Rosalind, she was anything but evil.

Anastasia was just a girl who only wished to be loved.

A girl who's betrothed was stolen from her.

A girl who had no one by her side except Rosalind Blackwood.

A girl who had died at the hands of the man she loved, but who never loved her back.

Anastasia Vasilev, the villainess with a tragically undeserving ending.

In that moment, I promised myself that as long as I was in this novel and searching for a way back to my own world, I would also try to give Anastasia Vasilev the happy ending she deserved.
