When Ember returned home, her mother greeted her, saying, "Hey, Ember, go get freshened up and come for dinner. Today, I made your favorite dishes."
"Okay, Mom," Ember replied, though she had already made a plan to give Dylan some time to explain why he had done what he did. However, something didn't feel right. After she freshened up, she sat next to her brother Zen and asked, "How was your day today, Ember, Mom?"
Mom noticed that Ember was clearly not in a good mood and responded, "Mom, today was the same as every other day—some lectures and the library."
After completing dinner, Ember's brother suggested, "Let's watch a movie today," and they all gathered in the living room.
"Mom, I think I'm going to my room to study. I have an exam coming up," Ember said to her mother.
"No, you can't. Just sit here and watch a movie with us. How many times have I told you not to stress about exams? Look at you; you look so pale today. Just sit and refresh your mind," her mother scolded her. Ember understood why her mother was saying this and smiled, holding her mother's hand. She said, "Okay, okay, I won't stress out now."
Ember's family sat together and watched a movie, but Ember's mind wasn't really present at that time. When the movie finished, they all bid each other good night and returned to their rooms.
"Ember, I don't want you to stay up all night, okay? Take it easy; it's just exams, and everyone has to face them," Ember's parents told her with concern on their faces.
"Okay, I love you guys. Good night. And yes, I'm not going to stay up late," Ember smiled and went back to her room.
In her room, she was alone. She sat at the study table but couldn't concentrate on her studies. "I can't sleep tonight," was the thought running through her mind.
"Even Sofia gave me good study notes, but I can't muster the spirit to face him," she said and took a book with her, lying down on the bed. She hid her face in the middle of the book and tried to focus on her studies, but she was too tired today. Her eyelids were getting heavy, and she eventually drifted off to sleep.
When she awoke, she found herself in Dylan's house. Her eyes were about to open, but they felt incredibly heavy. As she struggled to open her eyelids, the bright sunshine flooded in, allowing her to see Dylan's bright face as he slept nearby.
