A FRESH START

A city filled with tourists and generations of couples filled Elvira's empty heart once again with the assurance of 'Everything will be Alright'. Her eyes surged here and there along the shores of the ocean.

A car was sent to pick her up from the airport. She was immensely excited to see her new life and how it will change everything making it all splendid to her expectations.

But is it really going to happen according to her way?

The hotel building was huge. She knew they came in the world's top five hotel chains. But she has never visited any of their hotels. Her first impression of the breathtaking beauty and elegance of the Hotel was that she almost tripped getting out of the car, refusing to take her eyes off the hotel and on the ground.

"Hello, Miss Pearce. We wholeheartedly welcome you." Pair of two girls said, plasting a tight smile on their faces. Their hair was tied up in a neat bun. They wore a specific uniform, making their figures come out more.

"Thank you." Elvira nodded, getting somewhat uncomfortable as she wore a summer dress, with her little curly hairs lowering down to her back. Covering her bare shoulders.

"This is your key, Miss Pearce." One of the girls said handing Elvira a key card to her room allotted by HR.

The page boy took her stuff into a trolley and asked her to follow him to her room. She once again smiled, awkwardly at the girls and quickly matched her pace with the page guy.

They reach the room with a double bed and dim lights. The theme of the room was supposed to be for couples. She was a little disappointed looking at the colors of the walls. Urging her to be with someone she loves but there was no one who wants to be with her.

Why, though? It wasn't like she was ugly or didn't have a good personality. Then why someone wouldn't want to be with her in that amorous room.

"Thank you for your service." Elvira appreciated the page boy who bowed with the same tight smile and left the room, closing the door behind.

Elvira flopped on the bed, arching her back. "Finally, I can rest." She murmured, shutting her eyes.

Suddenly her phone rang. The name on the phone made her chest heavy. She wanted to yell and cry but rather she just declined the call and switched her phone off.

She again closed her eyes but this time she has lost her sleep. She just wants to cry but she has promised herself she won't. She would never cry for the people who left her miserable in that tempestuous night, alone. Crying and wailing she reached her home. She could have been in an accident or not say, unfortunate assault on a lone girl.

But no one cared. Then why are they calling her now? What do they even want? Forgiveness? Huh! Not a chance she will forgive them after what they did to her.

'Ugh!! I should just explore around.' She precipitously got up off the bed.

Taking her bags away she took her laptop out and placed it on the table. Next, she placed her closed neatly in the closet provided to her. It was enough for her short number of clothes.

Then she decided to take a bath and go down, meet some people and see the beach. As she could not enter the kitchen before tomorrow, starting her work.

Taking a bath and locking the door properly she stepped down to the reception. Those two girls she met earlier were working on the reception desk.

'So they were receptionists.'

"Hello Miss Pearce, do you need anything?" One of them asked Elvira, with a faint smile.

Elvira then noticed she was observing them like any serial killer would on his victims.

"No, no. I was just passing by." Elvira shocked her head, assuring them to move with their work.

"Are you going to the beach, Miss Pearce?" The second girl asked, smiling genuinely.

"Yes. I got bored in the room." Elvira nervously replied.

"Great! You will love the surroundings. Have a great outing!" She cheered Evira. Maybe this job wasn't a bad decision for her.

"But Miss Pearce, remember not to drink any alcohol. Our hotel policy is strict towards staff. If you get drunk, you'll need to face the consequences." The first girl spoke, widening her eyes, showing immense fear.

"Don't worry. I won't drink." Elvira shoots an assured smile, "By the way, I didn't get your names." Elvira said, making herself more comfortable with the young receptionists.

"I'm Mia and she is Olivia." The girl answered, returning the same comfort.

"Well, then Mia and Olivia. I hope to see you guys often." Elvira waved them goodbye and left to wander around the coast full of people from all over the world.

She walked along the waves of the water, hitting her feet. Feeling of tickles she got. She loves beaches. She wished to live in a house near the beach after marriage.

But now she has lost her hopes of getting married or even falling in love again. Love made her suffer a little too much than she could bear. She never dares to make that mistake again.

But love isn't something she could have her control on. She can't just fall in and out according to her wishes. It's nature. It will happen at the given time and she would have no choice except for embracing what she has given by nature.

"Excuse me." A grave voice patted her shoulder. She turned around to see a muscular guy with a surfboard. His hair waved with the cold air.

"Yes?" Elvira replied, confused, gazing at him. Why would such a handsome man be calling her?

"Don't panic, alright." He looked into her deadly eyes, which were once full of love and hope. She tilted her head in confusion.

"There is a jellyfish near your right foot. Don't jump." He said, keeping his surfboard away. He looked at Elvira who was stern, without making a single movement.

"Hey, are you there?" He asked again. She didn't reply. Then he stroked her arm to bring her back into reality.

What he didn't know was that Elvira was afraid of jellyfishes more than a grim reaper. She instantly jumped into his arms, snuggling her face into his chest.

How could she abruptly jump into some stranger's arms?
