CHAPTER 8: ITS NOT REALLY ALL SUNSHINES.
The Simon's seem to have it all together, one would think they already go to bed dressed, because they don't come out of the bedroom looking anything short of elegant, and this day was not in anyway an exception.
"So they want you to attend as the keynote speaker?" Asked Steve holding the wife's waist with his head placed on her shoulder.
"Yes baby and I need you there, every one of you, I mean Hansen requested specifically for you, but I imagined why not just turn it into a vacation? We have been planning one already anyways." Said Valery turning then kissing her husband dressed all elegantly and holding him on the shoulders, looking in his face waiting for his response and expecting him to drop everything for her.
"We will attend babe, but you and the girls have to go first before us because I'll be helping the boys with a tender meeting and can't travel with you all even if I wanted to. I also have a meeting to do before I can conclude whether I'll make it for Minister Hansen" Said Stephan apologetically, and winking his eyes as he speaks Hansen's name.
"Well, I don't care with Hansen, because I know she has a thing for you so her getting disappointed will be a bonus to me, so I wouldn't be complaining about that part at all, but come on you all can mos have the meeting in Swakop?" Asked Valery shaking the husband as he walks away.
"No babe we can't, I know its valentines, and if we had our way we need to be together and we are well aware, but the investor wants to meet them in Windhoek, so unfortunately no babe I can't go with you, if I'm going to help the guys, I need to be with them in person, in Windhoek, we can't really do it well over phones and the investor will not trust the guys just like that. Plus, I know you have it under control with the girls, you're the most organised person I know." Said Steve picking his laptop bag from the sofa then turns looking at his wife trying to smooth talk her into letting him go.
"Okay babe I understand, but that doesn't mean I'm happy about it, and let me guess, you're going to work already huh, on a Saturday?" Asked Valery giving car keys from the counter to the husband and holding his arms.
"Well, if I'm going to join my wife on a vacation for Valentines and probably have a minister of finance fall for me, I have to make sure all business transactions and meetings are done in today right? I'll be back soon baby." Said Steve and kissed Valery on the lips.
"Bye baby." Said Valery and waving her hand as Steve closes the door and walked out of the house.
Everyone was getting ready to leave for the vacation, so every thing concerning the trip had to be done that Saturday before 12 and Paulina was also preparing to go.
Paulina Is in her apartment packing her stuff, and getting ready for the trip, for some reason known to her, she looks annoyed and miserable as she is busy packing. She walks from the bed with her phone in hand and then sat on her ottoman and opened her contact list. After a heavy breath in and out, she searched for Steve from her contacts and then called him, looking in her dressing mirror as she waits for her phone to ring, fingers crossed that he will pick up.
"Hello." She said nervously, with one arm folded on her chest, and the other holding a phone.
"Hey Paulina, look I told you I would fund your project, I will deposit all the money you and I have already spoken about, what more would you want from me?" Asked Steve on the other side of the call getting annoyed as he was already getting ready for a meeting and wasn't expecting to deal with Paulina and her drama today.
"I'm sorry to bother you Steve, and I'm so grateful for everything you're doing for me, really I am, but I need help, I need little money, my rent is due, my car payment is due and there is no petrol in it, please bail me out, I swear I will stop calling you." Said Paulina looking at her reflection in the mirror about to cry, throwing herself a pity party.
"Okay, ill help you out with money Paulina but this got to stop, my wife will find this out and it'll look like we are still sleeping together, I don't know how we are even still doing this, I mean she is your best friend." Said an annoyed Steve on the other side of the line.
"But we are not sleeping together anymore Steve, we all know very well, we're just friends, and I'm just requesting for help from a friend." Said Paulina defending herself.
"Friends that loan each other money without my wife knowing, how do you think that will look like?" Said Steve angrily and then hung up, leaving Paulina high and dry, but at least he promised to help her out with money.
