Chapter 104: Time Off 2

Clean Squeak was trying her best to relax, She decided to take a vacation from her job and enjoy some time with her son, luckily for her, she managed to win a pair of tickets for a free cruise she could take and take them she did.

The last half a year was a blur of headaches and worry for the poor mare, and it all started seven months ago when she let her son look around an Art gallery.

She knows she shouldn't blame herself for what happened, the security of the place was investigated after the event, and the Museum head was fired and replaced after it all, but it did not change the fact that her poor little boy got his nose broken.

And then that scarf.

That damned scarf.

She spent what must have been days trying to clean the blood off of that scarf, but whatever material it was made out of seemed to despise the mere idea of being washed, so she had no choice but to give up and keep it as it was.

A sky blue scarf, stained with the brown splatter of her son's dried blood.

And just a month after that, She gets caught up in what the Crown describes as a 'Storm of Chaos' that came about after an ancient Spirit escaped its magical prison.

Whatever excuse they have, it didn't change the fact that she almost drowned in a flood of chocolate milk!

Luckily a passing rescue boat managed to find her and her son, together with as many other ponies as it could pick up from the flooded streets.

But there was something that connected those two events in her mind.

Prince Blueblood Platinum.

She knows it's a coincidence, of course she does, but her Son saw the prince as a hero since the day they first met, and following the Chocolate flood, that Stallion turned into an Idol to look up to for her little Pip.

She can't remember how many times her little Pip ran up to her showing off another story in the newspaper about how the Prince did something or another.

She's happy he has a positive male role model to look up to, Harmony knows his father isn't going to be one, but she's getting tired of hearing about the Prince every other week.

Yes Pip, it's wonderful that he's building diplomatic relations with Equestria's neighbors, but Mommy has a job to do.

So she made a very special stipulation that her son had to follow if he wanted to go on another cruise with her in the future if she ever gets the chance.

No talking about Prince Blueblood Platinum.

"Mom! Mom! Prince Blueblood is on the ship! And he's giving away coupons! Look!" Clean Squeak closed her eyes and let out an exhale of exhaustion as her Son jumped on their shared bed, holding in his mouth coupons for a discount on select items in one of those new BBF Grocery stores that seemed to pop up in the bigger cities.

It seems that the woes of a mother never end, even on a Vacation she is cursed to listen to her son speak about that Prince.

Clean Squeak hates coincidences.

----------------------------------------

Starlight Glimmer let out a tired sigh as her body dropped into the chair at the cruise ship's dining hall, her half-lidded eyes threatening to close and drive the mare into a deep sleep as she struggled to glare at the smug face of the Unicorn sitting in front of her.

"You look tired Starlight, What's wrong? Is doing nothing at all really that hard for you?" Prince Blueblood asked smugly, his horn glowing with light-blue magic as he moved the napkin on his side of the table and twisted it into fancy shapes as he waited for his food to arrive, "I must say, I am having a blast doing nothing, this vacation is exactly what I needed, why I'm even planning on telling a story for the children tomorrow, like one of those Story-time things that sometimes happen in Libraries, you know what I'm talking about, how fun is that?! Come on, smile a bit,"

Starlight grumbled tiredly and did her best to look angrier as she once again tried, and failed, to glare at her boss so hard he exploded.

"If looks could kill, Why if I didn't know better, I'd think you were trying to tell me to shut up, but I know you too well, If you really wanted me to shut up you'd tell me, come on Starlight I know you can do it!" With a glow to his horn, a party popper appeared beside him before erupting, a small explosion of illusionary confetti covering Starlight as she grumbled slightly louder, attempting to gain control of her facial muscles in order to open her mouth and tell her Best Friend to shut up.

"...Tup...." Was all that Starlight could say before her mouth opened widely as a yawn escaped her, once that was over she turned back to her boss to see him wave his leg in front of his face as if wiping away an awful smell.

Asshole.

"Okay, no jokes, you actually look awful right now," Blueblood dropped his smile and looked straight into her eyes, a hint of worry behind the pair of glaciers, "Do not make me order you to go to sleep, even though I think you need it more than I do."

Starlight wanted to retort, say some quip, but she couldn't.

This Vacation was supposed to be for Blueblood, but now it seems that Starlight was the one who needed it more than anyone.

So with a grumble of defeat and an aquamarine glow of magic, Starlight Glimmer teleported back to their cabin, crawled into the nearest bed, ignored the fact that it was Blueblood's, closed her eyes, and went to sleep.

The slob didn't take a shower or brush her teeth.

Disgusting.

Although... I do wonder what she was dreaming about.

------------------------------------

Starlight Glimmer had a wide smile on her face as she held on tightly to the roof of the train, the locomotive galloping at almost breakneck speeds towards an unfinished bridge up ahead.

She already managed to get all the passengers out, but that was par for the course, now she had the opportunity to watch the real show.

The reason why she loved her new job so much, even though it was basically her prison parole.

Standing on the roof of one of the cabins ahead of her, she watched as Prince Blueblood slammed his hoof into a tall insect-looking Alicorn with a powerful right hook.

The insectoid Alicorn skidded slightly on the roof of the train cabin, the force of the punch causing the fake mustache she had on her face to fly off, revealing the identity of the villain, the criminal who tried to rob this train full of money, puppies, and orphans.

"Queen Chrysalis?!" Blueblood stepped back in shock, his eyes widening at the surprise reveal that the Tall Untransformed Changeling who looked suspiciously like Queen Chrysalis with a cheap fake mustache as a disguise, was in fact, none other than Queen Chrysalis with a cheap fake mustache as a disguise.

Who would have seen that coming?!

Starlight laughed at the sight, a bucket of popcorn appearing in her hoofs as she partook of her favorite part of Bodyguarding duty.

Watching Prince Blueblood protect himself.

What soon followed was a fight of epic proportions where no magic was fired, both combatants moved like the wind as hooves met chests, kicks met elbows, and faces met the roof of a metallic train cart.

But the best part was when Starlight and the Prince jumped off the train, causing the dastardly villain to laugh as if she won, only for the train she stood upon to fall off the unfinished bridge, collide with a convenient pile of explosive dynamite at the bottom of the fall, and explode into a large ball of cinematic fire.

A pair of Cowboy hats floated down from the sky and landed on top of the Unicorn Duo's heads as they watched the fire burn, knowing full well that they saved the day once again.

So what if they destroyed hundreds of thousands of bits in property, the point is that they had fun doing so.

Starlight Glimmer was having a nice dream.

Good for her.
