Chapter Ten: Everything

Valerie forgot how to breathe as she watched him grip Stella's throat and lifted her from the ground. Stella held his hands and struggled for air. He was choking her.

"M-m-my lord, please, don't do this!"

Stella managed to breathe as Aiden held her throat. Aiden's eyes were filled with malicious intent. His aura had gathered, making anybody who was near tremble with fear.

Stella could feel her life slipping away. Nobody could kill her, except them and she was afraid. She was still young, she couldn't go so soon. She stared at Aiden as her eyelids fluttered and she pleaded with her eyes, trying to garner pity from him.

It seemed to work as he suddenly let go of her and she dropped to the ground, wheezing in coughs. She coughed violently and she raised her head up to look at Aiden, who had his back turned to her and was staring at Valerie with an unknown look in his eyes.

She stood up and went to him "My lord, don't be angry with me. I only wanted to get rid of this human for you. I didn't know that maybe, you wanted to do it yourself. It's just, you've been getting so close to her that I thought that, you'd have fallen for her. I was so scared! But then, why choose a human? She's so weak and fragile! Let me finish her off for you, it'll be a piece of-"

Nobody knew when it happened or how.

All Valerie knew was that one moment Stella was standing at Aiden's back and the next, she was lying dead on the ground with Aiden standing beside her.

His hand was dripping with blood and Valerie's heart almost jumped out of her mouth. She widened her eyes in horror and she heard a sound. She turned and watched as Stella's body disintegrated in front of her.

Her body had turned to Ashes and got blown away with the wind.

Valerie felt her blood pressure rise. What was going on! Just when she thought nothing else could happen, from the corner of her eye, she saw Aiden taking slow stories towards her and panic rose in her heart

"Please! Please don't kill me! I-i-i didn't do anything, I don't know anything! I promise I won't breathe a word of this, I Saw nothing! But please, d-dont kill me!"

She pleaded frantically as she tried to crawl away but her body wouldn't listen to her. She was too tired and drained mentally that her body felt numb.

When Aiden got closer, she closed her eyes, expecting her life to end quickly but she felt something cold on her face instead. She shakily opened her eyes and saw Aiden carresing her face with a warm look in his eyes.

His hands felt cold and he looked pale. His face carried a conflicted emotion within him and he squeezed his face.

Aiden was running crazy. He felt that the girl in front of him would be the death of him. He tried to control himself as the smell of her blood entered his nostrils and drove him into a fight with his mental state. She looked so innocent and frightened and he wanted more than anything to just cuddle her and-

No!

Not that!

He couldn't touch her. He would never! He rubbed off Stella's blood on his suit jacket and threw it somewhere. He felt disgusted by it.

He bent low and picked Valerie up, carrying her in his arms. She was shivering and she felt so cold. The scent of her blood wafted through his nostrils again but he shook his head. He couldn't lose control now.

With the speed of light, he drifted through the wind and landed at a hospital. Valerie just had to blink and the next thing she knew, she was at a hospital. She couldn't say anything.

Aiden carried her inside the hospital and called for a doctor, who took Valerie inside a ward and got her admitted. When he was asked how Valerie had gotten injured, he lied and told them that he had saved her from thugs.

Valerie had so much to ask him, but she couldn't talk. Her strength had been sucked dry and she felt so weak that she couldn't even move her body. She opened her mouth to talk but felt drowsy instead. The doctors had given her a dose of aesthetics and she was dozing off. The last thing she saw was the white ceiling of the hospital ward as her eyes closed and she fell asleep.

Aiden stood outside her hospital room with a conflicted look in his eyes. He had gotten her admitted in a VIP ward and he was allowed to see her anytime but for some reason, he couldn't bring himself to enter. He was mad

Mad that he couldn't protect her.

Mad that he wasn't there to stop Stella in time.

Most importantly, he was mad at himself. For leaving her to walk back home at that time of the night, when he knew it was not safe in the human world.

He felt an indescribable emotion in his heart when he dropped her and turned back home. He couldn't explain it, and that made him put his car in reverse. His nose had caught the whiff of blood and he panicked.

When he got down, he flew into rage as he saw Stella trying to kill Valrie and before he could stop himself, he was there, holding Stella's neck instead.

He couldn't deal with Stella's betrayal and he felt torn. She was his most trusted aide and loyal person. Why did she suddenly turn wild that she wanted to kill a human?

But how could he have known that Stella was plotting against Valerie behind him? He didn't know.

He sighed in defeat and he turned back to leave. He knew she had many questions to ask him, many things to know, and he would answer them all.

There was no point in hiding them now. He was ready to tell her EVERYTHING....
