Chapter Sixteen: Mate

Valerie happily took a bite into the burger Liam had gotten for her and she closed her eyes, reveling in the delicious taste of it

"God! This tastes so good!" She commented in between mouthfuls and took another bite

Liam chuckled "Slow down tiger, it's not running away. Besides, how would you know our burgers are fire when all you ever take are your potato fries"

Valerie eyed him "Excuse me! Potato fries is the greatest food invention ever made by man! You have no respect for great food nor do you have the knack for it! Why am I even wasting my time with you?!"

She scoffed and got up from the seat, strolling towards Aiden's office and Liam laughed "Call me when you're ready to go home!"

She didn't say anything and she continued going.

She arrived at his office and opened the door, proceeding to sit down opposite him whilst munching on her burger.

She just couldn't get enough of it!

Aiden stared at the burger in her hands with disdain. He wasn't particularly mad at the burger, but the person behind the buying of the burger

"I can see that you and Liam have built a 'solid' foundation" he cleared his throat and Valerie froze. "I'm sorry, what do you mean?" She asked but he just continued browsing on his laptop

She stared at him for a few moments, but he wouldn't say anything, so she just shrugged and carried on with her burger.

Aiden almost pierced his palm! She didn't even bother asking repeatedly! "Liam seems to be getting real close to you recently" he said again and waited for her reply

She swallowed a bite of her burger "Well, he takes me as his big sister and buys me food. He also walks me home sometimes so yea, I think we're that close"

Aiden became livid. He even walks her back home! Meaning that, he knew where she lived.

The audacity of that boy!

He needed to be fired!

He was breaching on his boss's - uh, company rules!

With seething rage visible in his eyes, he ordered Valerie "Go get me a cup of latte!"

Valerie frowned

The last time he ordered latte, she has used her money to pay. But before she could protest, he handed her some notes and made her leave the office.

He was too mad to think straight.

Valerie got the latte and decided to swing by at her desk before going back up. After checking and cross checking some things in her cubicle, she turned to go to Aiden's office when Madison, a coworker of hers rushed up to her

"Valerie did you hear?!"

Valerie raised her brows in confusion

"Hear what?"

"Some men barged in at the reception area and totally ignored the receptionist. They're heading up to boss's office right now!"

Valerie was surprised.

Who were those people?

Without wasting much time, she ran to the elevator and pressed the button for the top floor. When the doors opened, she saw two huge and burly men standing in front of Aiden's office.

They were acting like some sort of guard. She adjusted her skirt and with her chin held high, advanced closer to them

"Stop! No one is allowed here!"

She paused and raised her brow in confusion "What do you mean? This is my boss's office and I'm here to give him the latte he asked for" she calmly explained but they weren't having it

"Please step aside, this place is off limits for now" one of them said and Valerie almost pulled her hair as she groaned internally but maintained a proud front.

She stared at the men "Alright, don't worry, I'll just hold his latter right here for him"

She turned to go and walked a few paces when the door suddenly flew open and she turned back to meet a really handsome hottie with black hair, neatly combed and creamed. He wore a suit and he looked really delectable in it

Valerie snapped out of her gaze when she noticed that he wouldn't stop staring at her

What was wrong with this one too?

The young man still gave her a goofy stare as his eyes reflected wonder and a longing feeling.

He opened his quivering lips to utter one word

"Mate"

Valerie couldn't understand what that meant or why he said it, but she knew it wasn't a good thing because of the voice she heard soon after

"WHAT THE H*LL DID YOU JUST YOU CALL HER??!!"...
