Chapter

The Silence in the heat was deafening at first, but Gina seemed not to let that continue. Her breasts heaved in a long, drawn-out sigh as she sat against the wall. "You know, I am not going to bite if you want to talk, Richelle," Gina said with a small smile, "I know both of us naked makes it feel a little weird, but that is okay. If you want me to be quiet, though, you don't have to say anything."

"It's not that I want you to be quiet or anything. I just don't really know what I am doing here," I replied with a small smile.

"You are trying to relax," Gina replied instantly, "People have a hard time just taking a moment for themselves. Many companies make people work to the point that they never relax. Many company leaders are even worse on this and never relax." Gina said with a sad sigh, "I have started to work with millionaires and even a couple of billionaires, just trying to help them find a place or a thing that will allow them to just take a moment to themselves. Many of them even ruined relationships because they couldn't take a bit of time off themselves. I understand that you are mostly retired even at such a young age," She said with a smile, "But even in that, there are many that just can't relax even if they think they are."

I frowned, but I also knew that she was right in some respects.

But was that true for me?

I did not think so. I needed to mix things up and not be at home moping around.

"I would generally agree with you about many of my colleagues, but I would not say that about myself too much." I replied slowly in thought as I spoke, "I generally let loose by being with friends as I grew up. As I got older, I continued to make friends, and many became business associates, which may not have been the best choice but not the worst. I did make it to the top of the one percent, although there are still at least over a hundred people above me in riches." I chuckled for a moment, "But why care at this moment? I have a very large number of wealth to my name; why make the number go larger?" I asked.

The question hung in the air, and Gina chuckled, "You are the first rich client to ever say they don't need more wealth," Gina said.

"That is because it is a tally to them. A competition among many of them is needed to see who can get the highest number. If you talk to the old wealthy families, which I had to do a couple of business deals with, they are so absurdly wealthy that the richest people in the world are to shame. They don't advertise it either. They watch the rest compete and stay quiet. Did you ever hear of the Sinclair Family?" I asked, turning to her, and Gina pursed her lips.

"They are the family that owns a pharmaceutical company, I think?" Gina replied, unsure.

"Wow, good job, they are a family that likes their privacy. But you are correct; they owned the company that made the drug, oxycodone, a powerful opioid, and are the reason for the opioid pandemic in the United States," I told her, chuckling at what I was going to continue with, "They created an entire health crisis that killed millions over multiple decades. Not thousands, not tens of thousands, not even hundreds of thousands, Millions. They did it all for Billions of dollars of profit; I think it was around the range of thirty-two billion dollars or something just on that drug alone. But what are they doing with that wealth?" I asked her, and I shrugged, "Honestly, nothing. They use it as an investment in other things to increase their wealth even more. So they sold out an entire population, if not the world, for money that they are doing nothing with. They live in nice places but do nothing with the absurd amount of wealth they make." I chuckled, shaking my head, and Gina looked at me, a little horrified.

"That is, gross," Gina said, unsure.

"Oh, it is, and when they were made to be put to account for it, they have to pay out fourteen billion dollars over a time frame where they make that money and more from that money before they have to pay it out. So they received no punishment in return for it." I shook my head and sighed, relaxing as the heat permeated into my bones. I looked at Gina, who looked thoughtful.

"But why am I talking about this," I said, and Gina looked at me with a confused look, "It is simple," I told her and grinned, "That is what money does to you at a certain point if you continue to search it out. You corrupt yourself, and the numbers make human brains do funny things. That number increase is the entire point and nothing else. They get nothing more out of it. I am in the same position as them in terms of money. I only have about a billion or two; I haven't looked in a while to check. I make a point of not caring about it anymore. I already succeeded and created companies that slowly grow and am the Major shareholder. So they work the way I told them to, and the number always going up is not what I need. They produce a steady stream of income and have no debt. They pay out to me, and I can easily survive on that." I chuckled, "So I might be in the exact same position as the Sinclair Family without selling out an entire population in doing so. But in doing so, I have nothing else to do. Nothing to strive toward." I sighed.

Depressive thoughts hit me like a truck as I thought about my businesses.

"Why not do charity," Gina asked, "Like Bill Gates?"

"Bill Gates, what a shameful person," I said with a sigh, "Gina, have you ever looked into the consequences of unchecked charity?" I asked, "Have you ever heard of the Christian parable of feeding a man a fish, and he eats for a day, teaches a man to fish, he eats for a lifetime?" I asked.

"But,"

"Gina, not all charities are bad," I said with a smile. Women's healers are really good charities. They are fighting the good fight, saving women from abuse. Animal shelters are doing the same, but," I sighed, "Just because it is a charity does not mean it is good. But let's not talk about this; it is getting me depressed."

Gina opened and closed her mouth, and I could see that she wanted to argue with me. "What made you think about all of that?" Gina asked. "I was talking about the fact that many people do not know how to relax, not the counting up of numbers."

"Because the thing that relaxes people like that is a number going up. Make that number constantly go up, and they get all happy and relaxed," I said, chuckling. That is how you relax them. For me, I liked simpler things. I liked friends and family," I told her bluntly.

"Do you have a family? Mother? Father?" Gina asked.

"Did," I replied.

"Oh, I am sorry for your loss."

"No, they are not dead," I said with a chuckle, "but I may as well be to them."

"I am sorry. Do you mind clarifying?"

"That is not an issue," I said. Please do not take this to the media or anything. In fact, if you do," my voice trailed off, and Gina chuckled.

"I have a mandatory silencing clause on my end. So if anything you say is leaked, you are able to sue me into the ground. Victoria has the paperwork for that, which is standard for all my clients."

"Okay," I said and pursed my lips, "It is simple; my family, or my close relatives, I should say, started to treat me like a bank account. An unlimited source of income that will never end, and I would have truly had to make a graph go up infinitely to sate their greed. They took, took, and took without regard for my work. They saw that I was rich and thought that meant that I could buy them hundred thousand dollar cars. I bought a house for my mom and dad and several other things. But I put my foot down when they would not stop spending my money into the tens of millions, even though I told them to slow down." I sighed, "They retaliated by retracting love and company, saying that I was the bad guy and attacking me." I turned to Gina, "Money Corrupts, always will because it is a form of Corruption. It is why I separate myself from it in so many ways."

"Well, that is good; at least you know where you stand, right?" Gina said.

"At least I have that, and I have a wonderful daughter I adopted. She was feisty at first, but I love her. She is so smart and is going to Harvard now, although," I chuckled, "She is now playing the game Grand Adventure Online, for a bet with me. Let me just say that I am so proud of the girl," I smiled as I thought about her, and I hoped that she was doing well in classes.

I trusted her completely.

"Hmmm, did you notice since we started to talk that you have relaxed Richelle?" Gina asked, "Like really relaxed, almost completely. It is good to see," Gina said and I turned to her surprised.

"No, not really," I replied with a wry smile, "But I wasn't really thinking about relaxing."

"How many friends are you in contact with?" Gina asked.

"Not many, mostly Victoria these days."

"I think you should touch base with more of them."

"Hmmm, maybe I should."

"We should leave the sauna; can't overheat; I want to bring us to the next place. Victoria asked me to get some things for you. I hope you will enjoy the experience," Gina said, getting up, her breasts lightly swaying as she did, and I got up, agreeing with her mentally.

"Hmm, I wonder what she has in mind," I replied, thinking about what Victoria wanted.

"She wanted me to make it a surprise."

"I'm sure it will," I replied with a chuckle, following her back into the changing room, wondering even more about what was to come.
