Xiao Gege

After giving a book to recognize the characters to Yiyi, Liu Xinyu went to find a book for herself. She chose books very randomly which seemed to cover all the fields out there. Whether she knew about the field or not, Liu Xinyu still decided to go through these books.

To be very honest, she couldn't understand why the people who transmigrated in novels were able to accept it so calmly. Wasn't it a freakish experience? How could you just accept it? She time-traveled with her own body and she was still overwhelmed by this experience while those protagonists were able to easily accept being in an unfamiliar body. Eee... Creepy! That was like possessing a dead body. Which normal person could accept it?

Or maybe she was the abnormal one for making a mountain out of the molehole. She was very conflicted at the moment. She accepted everything about this time-traveling journey but at the same time, deep down, she wanted to find excuses or just a hint that she was in an alternate reality. Why she wanted that excuse, she couldn't tell either.

Liu Xinyu didn't know how long she spent just reading the books. The more she read, the more she felt tired. She slumped down on the table using her arms as a cushion.

"Aiya! Xiao Gege is finally here!" *Xiao Gege is a slang term that means 'young man' or 'little brother'

Hearing that loud and excited girly voice, Liu Xinyu was startled and opened her eyes. Who would speak so loudly in the library? But when she realized that no one said anything to criticize this person who spoke so loudly in the library, it only meant two things; one, she was hallucinating. Two, it was a ghost.

And if it was a week ago, Liu Xinyu would have gladly accepted it as just a hallucination. Now, she couldn't deceive herself with the same excuse though. She just had to come to terms with the fact that she could see and hear ghosts now. She was one step into the land of the living and the another step into the land of the dead.

Did that make her a living dead?

Liu Xinyu had a thoughtful look when she thought of this question. She felt like this was worth pondering over. Maybe instead of looking into the matters of history, she should focus on her condition. Why was she able to see ghosts and how to get rid of them?

As she came to this conclusion, she stood up to look for any books that were related to metaphysics. She had little hope of finding something like that in the library of the biggest university in Yuchen city. She did find books about science that shunned the existence of supernatural beings but the books on supernatural beings like ghosts were nowhere to be found.

Oh, but she did find the loud ghost who was standing in front of a table while gushing with hearts popping out of her eyes. She looked like a teenager to Liu Xinyu. The adolescent girl wore a floral red shirt and black trousers. Her hair was tied in two braids which was a classic look from the 60s. Especially those classic leather shoes in her feet.

Liu Xinyu didn't want to pay too much attention to that ghost so she focused on her search for the right book. But as she did, she could still hear the voice of that girl's ghost coming from nearby.

"Xiao Gege, why didn't I see you for the past two months? Where have you been? Were you sick? You have lost weight. You should eat more. Look at your pale complexion, it breaks my heart to see you like this."

"This ghost is quite caring," muttered Liu Xinyu to herself.

"Do you know, Tang Tang couldn't even rest well. Not seeing you for just two months made Tang Tang feel like it had been a lifetime."

Liu Xinyu rolled her eyes as she thought, "This ghost is a drama queen too."

"But it's good now. Now, Tang Tang will be able to see you every day again. Finally, my eyes are cleansed after so long. Sigh. Just seeing this handsome face, Tang Tang feels like she is in heaven watching immortals."

Liu Xinyu's face twitched listening to this ghost's annoying voice. She had to say, that Yiyi was a lot better partner to be stuck with than this one. At least, Yiyi was mature and understanding. Not as talkative too unless she was curious about something. But this ghost who claimed to be 'Tang Tang' was really a little girl. And she was behaving like a girl who was facing her crush.

Liu Xinyu was disappointed with her search so she planned to go back to her seat to rest but when she passed by the young girl ghost who was fascinated by the boy, she couldn't help looking over. And once she did, she stopped in her tracks.

Oh, wasn't this her rude savior? Or should she say, the shy victim of her harassment?

It was him! How could she forget him? Even a ghost was fascinated by his looks, how could Liu Xinyu ignore that face that seemed like it came right out of a comic book? There was something different about him today though. Apart from the fact that he wore casual clothes, he also wore gold-rimmed glasses that made him look gentle.

This was the typical 'School heartthrob' right in front of her eyes.

The fact that the little girl was too loud and the fact that she was too bored, Liu Xinyu chose to let her wicked brain cells overtake her rational ones. So, with a sneaky smile, she walked over to his side.

"Hey! What a coincidence! I didn't think I'd see you here, Mr. Savior!"

Qi Yuze was studying his notes attentively when he heard that bright voice which made him look up. When he saw Liu Xinyu in front of his eyes, his eyes darkened a little. He had no good impression of this bold girl who kept invading his personal space. She was beyond shameless.

Qi Yuze was discharged from hospital today and before going home, he decided to go to his university to meet his professor to get some study material. After all, he had been on a very long vacation because of his health. He had to make up for the lost time now.

So, he came to sit in the library to read in a peaceful environment. Who knew that he'd run into this person?

Qi Yuze really wanted to curse out loud at his bad luck. But his upbringing didn't allow him to do so. Besides, he wasn't particularly good with swearing too.

He lowered his head and decided to not pay any attention to this person. The more he paid her attention, the more rampant she'd be.

Even the ghost standing beside him was stunned to hear Liu Xinyu's voice. She stared at Liu Xinyu with a piercing gaze as if she wanted to bite her right now. Of course, a ghost was also capable of possessiveness. Especially someone like the fangirl ghost who never liked seeing their idols with another woman.

Liu Xinyu didn't care about both their reaction. She was the same unbothered and indifferent Liu Xinyu. She pulled a chair and sat in on the chair opposite Qi Yuze.

"Are you not happy to see me?" she asked. "But I am very excited to see you. I was still sad thinking that we might not run into each other again after getting discharged from the hospital. After all, Yuchen is a big city. Who knew that I'd run into you the very next day? This is called fate!"

Qi Yuze took out his pocket cassette player and put on his headphones to block her voice as he played the song and continued reading. Liu Xinyu didn't mind his reaction even a little bit. She wasn't offended. If she had been in his place and someone pestered her like this, she might have gotten into a fight by now. He was too calm.

Tsk. Why was he so calm though? It made her want to cause trouble even more!

And she was never a troublemaker!

"Hahaha! Who do you think you are?" asked the young ghost in a haughty manner. "Do you think you can saunter here and get Xiao Gege's attention? So what if you are pretty? Xiao Gege doesn't even spare a glance at the campus beauty and ruthlessly rejects her. Where did you come from to bother him? Have you looked in the mirror?"

Liu Xinyu had to say, that all these ghosts were experts at getting on her nerves. She so wanted to block the mouth of this 'Tang Tang'.

Liu Xinyu and her ghost encounters! Poor girl!
