Kadan looked at the staff he made, sitting right in the palm of his hand.
"I wonder how I can channel it using my mana into it and bringing it out." he thought as mana swirled around his fingers before he inserted it into the mana crystal.
The gem glowed but there was no reaction from the gem as it kept absorbing the mana that he inserted. "Hmmm," he thought, while holding the staff with his fingers, then channeled mana into the staff, making it glow again before releasing a beam of light."There has to be more things that this staff can do apart from just shooting rays of light."
After a few days of practicing and experimenting, Kento managed to conclude. For him to channel and use the mana around the crystal at a faster and more effective pace then, he had to concentrate on using the staff to gather the mana energy through the crystal rather than using his hands and fingers.
If you used the crystal instead of his fingers, he could manage to control the mana around the environment to work in better ways, like the hardened antlers and the shield the gem made to protect itself from the mana ball.
If he wanted to use the gem's mana ability, he needed to first of all control it. And by controlling it, he couldn't do that by infusing energy into the gem, but he had to insert it into the antlers. From the antlers to the gem he would have to link both using his mana.
He held the antler and channeled mana from his hand into it. The gem glowed, and he could feel a link between the gem and him. He gathered the mana energy in the vicinity and managed to surround himself with a swirling mana. Slowly and slowly, he got the hang of how to use the staff and decided to return home to show his tribe.
Upon reaching home, he met with his father who was waiting for him along with a few members of the tribe. Apart from Kaden, Kalo also had 3 more kids, and two were female. When Kaden arrived in the tribe, he was given a stern glare.
"You've been away from the tribe for 2 weeks. What have you been up to?" Kalo proceeded to throw a question while keeping his angry tone.
"Father I have something impressive to show you," Kaden replied with a tone of excitement.
"What is it now? It better be something good regarding your fantasy of improving our mana usage" said Kalo. "Yes. That's exactly what it is" said Kadan.
"Then show us what you discovered, and aren't those the antlers of the deer that you brought two weeks ago?" Kalo's eyes trailed on the antler staff.
"Yes. I needed it for my experiment" Kadan replied.
Soon enough, the entire tribe was huddled together for the reveal of Kadan's experiment results.
The Goldorn stood in front of the entire tribe and held the staff in his hand before linking the gem through the antler and then proceeding to control it.
The gem began to glow as mana began to gather towards it at a rapid pace. Kadan, still concentrating used the mana to form a barrier around himself.
"I need someone to hurl a rock at me!" He shouted. Although cautious, Kalo threw a rock at Kadan. Even though he made it miss, the rock still hit the shield and was deflected to the side.
"Impressive," said Kalo. Kadan removed his focus and the mana shield dispersed. Kadan concentrated on casting. The gem on the antler glowed again and shot a beam of light. The light beam hit the ground, and when it had been shot, a pitch-black spot was left on the ground with a small trail of smoke coming up.
The entire tribe was shocked at the discovery of this. They were all curious about how the gem had been made to perform different things all in the same manner of gathering energy without swirling the fingers differently.
First a small shield, then a beam of light. "What other things can this staff do?" said Kalo.
"There are others but for now, this is all I have discovered," Kadan replied.
"Alright. Find out other ways of using this staff. It will be beneficial to our tribe in terms of hunting and mana usage."
"Yes father," Kadan said, smiling that he won at last.
After showing the light beam that was shot and the mana shield, Kadan proceeded to search for more things that could be used by the staff.
He returned to the cave where he always conducted his research and continued discovering more skills that the staff could generate. When the sky was turning dark, Kadan was about to search for wood to use as light.
Then a thought popped into his head, "I wonder if the staff can also be used to make light?"
He took the staff and began to infuse his energy to establish a link with it then began gathering mana towards it.
He managed to make the mana light up the cave by condensing it around the gem which then glowed. After a few hours, the gem stopped glowing which made the cave go dark.
Using an upraised hand, he managed to light the cave up and part of him wondered what was wrong with the staff that it stopped glowing. He checked and tried to light the cave up using the same method he used earlier.
After a while, he started puffing heavily, "What is wrong? '' he thought.
He tried all possible methods but nothing worked.
Once he began pondering, he remembered that he had inserted mana into it a few weeks ago. He began to insert mana into the staff and then proceeded to use the same method of gathering the mana within the cave to be around the staff.
After condensing the mana around the staff, the gem glowed again and it was here that he formed a theory from this. "The staff absorbs mana which it uses to keep the condensed mana around to make light.
Should the mana that it absorbed be used up in keeping the condensed mana together, the condensed mana will be dispersed, causing the light to go out."
The mana that it absorbed was like fuel and when fuel is empty from a car, you know what happens. The mana absorbed was used to keep the mana that it gathered in place and sustain it.
After a few more days of using the staff, Kadan was becoming adept at using mana through it. He started thinking, "What if I could make a staff that channels energy through words? That will be better rather than taking long periods to focus on gathering mana and trying to use it."
He glanced at the staff and started working towards using muttered words and sounds to cast spells and use mana.
He tried and tried for days on end with a zeal to finish his goal. But after trying, he discovered that it wasn't easy to use mana while putting the words and the form of behavior.
Each word that was said to use mana had to make it behave differently. Let's say that glow was the word. The mana had to gather around the gem and condense for the gem to glow.
If the word was a blast, then the mana had to gather around the gem and condense itself before being shot toward its destination.
Eventually, he found out that to use the words, the mana must be controlled to act that way. If, after channeling energy to use, you said the word blast. After practicing again and again and using the word blast during every casting, the mana should be able to react the way it should be when the word is said without using too much control.
"Blast!" said Kadan as he pointed his staff, and a beam of light shot out towards the edge of the cave, blasting rocks away in the process.
*Congratulations, you have unlocked a new achievement and gained the title of Word Weaver mage.*
*Congratulations, you have become a first-tier mage.*
"Seems like there is more to discover," said a smiling Kadan who returned to his tribe to show his progress. As if the ending of a movie, the screen turned blank and reverted to the panel that it originally was.
"This is great!" Shawn yelled as the popcorn in his hands had already been extinguished. "How I wished that I had picked him to be the first overseer but the wolf isn't bad anyway."
A notification that appeared on the panel.
"What's this??" said Shawn as he tapped on it.
*Hidden Quest*
Shawn raised his eyebrow but still said, "Give me the details."
*Your World is progressing and at a good stage for further evolution and growth. Perform an action or create something that will affect its development for ages*
*Reward ???*
Shawn read the details. The System wanted him to do something that would be specific for the development and evolution of the world. "But what can I do?" He thought.
