Speaking about manga, I have a lot of ideas about which manga from my first life should I re-create this time. I have a lot of options right now, such as 'Demon Slayer', 'Yakusoku no Neverland,' or my second favorite manga Haikyuu, 'Assassination Classroom'. I will try to re-create 'Assassination Classroom' at the same time with Eiji Niizuma's famous manga, 'Crow' on the Akamaru Jump, I guess.
But for now, though, I will try to steal Niizuma's spotlight and win the Tezuka Award. That is an award for a newcomer mangaka with a big prize for the winner. I mean, the lowest prize in the competition is 500.000 yen for the honorable mentions, which is twice of the entrance fee of Tohoku University. That amount of money will be a great help for the long term, if I win of course.. So, I need to write my own one-shot and send it to the editor in Shonen Jump before next month.
For the one-shot itself, I decide to re-create Mamoru Hosoda's famous movie, Bakemono no Ko. Many people may not hear of this work, because its movie is not as famous as his other work like 'Wolf Children Ame and Yuki' or 'Summer Wars', but I think this movie is the easiest work for me to turn it into a one-shot shonen manga. It has an element of fantasy, The main character is good, the battle scene is awesome, the romance is heartwarming, and the ending is satisfying, or soI think.
For your information, Bakemono no Ko is a story about a 9-year-old orphan named Ren who is shunned by everyone and lives on the streets. Living with no parents, no family, and no place to go, someday Ren stumbles into the beast realm of Shibuten and meets Kumatetsu, the second-best fighter in the Shibuten.
Kumatetsu is a bear-like beast who loves fighting and searching for recognition from Shibuten. He aims to be the lord of Shibuten by defeating its best fighter, Iouzan. Unfortunately, due to his hot temperament, he can never beat Iouzan in a fight, and people (or beasts in Shibuten's case) keep mocking him for being a loser.
While he is depressed after being defeated again, he stumbles into the main character, Ren. That intentional meeting is a blessing for each other. Kumatetsu who is trying to find how to beat Iouzan, after seeing Ren's stubbornness and talent in fighting, decides to take Ren as a disciple and teach him how to fight. As time goes by, Kumatetsu who is the teacher starts to learn a new fighting style to counterbalance Ren's talent and finally thinks that he has a chance to defeat Iouzan.
As for Ren, the 9-year-old orphan is gone and replaced by a 14-year-old teenager who has Kumatetsu as a Family now. But, before the decisive battle, Ren accidentally stumbles back into the human world and meets Kaede, the main heroine of this story. Meeting with Kaede changed Ren, who previously has no interest in humans, now starting to learn about humans. It brings a worry to Kumatetsu who doesn't want Ren to go back to the Human World, and this flicks a conflict between the two of them, just before Kumatetsu's battle.
Yeah, that is the simplified version of this story. There is a lot that I can't write here, like the hidden enemy, Kumatetsu's choice, Ren's choice of where he wants to live, and the love story between Ren and Kaede. If you want to know, you can watch the movie by yourself, and I guarantee that it is worth your time.
Back to the story
I decide to spend my night writing the 'name' of the story. For you who don't know, name is a rough or draft version of the manga. If you manage to get an editor, you don't need to finish your manga before sending it to your editor, just sending the name is enough. Very convenient right? Unfortunately, I am a rookie right now, so I need to have a final version of my manga.
After spending about five hours working and finished drawing about 50 pages of name, I look at my drawing and nodded, satisfied with the work. Looking at the clock showing that it has already passed midnight, I estimated that I can at least make a 10 pages name in every two hours. It is important information if I want to get serialized. But that is for the future. For now, I decide to take a rest because I need to cook for breakfast.
5.00 a.m.
After a good sleep, I found myself preparing breakfast and bento for Kiyoko right now. Yup, you guess it right. I only sleep for five hours. That is good behavior I think, waking up early. I move fast to prepare the oven to bake the marinated chicken for the chicken tikka masala sandwich that I prepare for Kiyoko's bento, and chop the ingredients for Risotto. It's good to be able to cook, I hummed.
I spend about one hour preparing the food before everything is ready. And right after I place the plate of hot risotto on the table, I hear a crack in the door from Kiyoko's room. She has already prepared to go to school, I guess after looking at her with her cute uniform. After taking a sit, she decides to not wait for me and took the first bite. She widened her eyes and took other bites before nodded, satisfied with the food.
"So, what do you think about this breakfast?" I take a seat and decide to ask her.
"It is wonderful. If you are able to cook something like this for every breakfast, I will be the happiest little sister in the world." She praises me.
"Ahahaha, flattery will not get you a second plate you know? But thank you for your compliment. I am also preparing sandwich for your bento, don't forget about it okay?"
"Okay, oh, by the way, I will bring the book I borrow from your room, is that okay?"
"It's okay I guess. Just don't let the teacher take the book."
"Okay, thank you for the food, Yuki-nii."
After washing her dish, she took her bento from the kitchen and ask for leaving. I only nod at her from the living room while enjoying my breakfast. I don't have anything to do today, so I guess I will try to make a progress with the manga today. I know that it will take roughly a week to finish this manga, so I am in no hurry to finish it.
And that is the beginning of my routine for this week. I will wake up at 5.00 a.m. and prepare breakfast and Kiyoko's bento, and then spend my day continuing my manga before Kiyoko is back from school, and I will end my day after having dinner with Kiyoko.
After a long week, I have finished my manga, finally. It's time to call Shonen Jump.
Waiting for a response from the telephone, after a few seconds I hear someone make a response,
"Hello, Shonen Jump here, I am Koji Yoshida, what can I do for you?"
