Misdiagnosis

[Voluntary Cortex override, partially completed. The patient's immune system poses an impediment wall to the nanite's mission. Be careful Shem, nanites control are barely holding.]

"Huu. Got it. As long as she is sedated."

Humans are extremely well liars and qualified prevaricators at that. It had propelled these monkeys to the top of the food chain and became the dominators of the world, simply because of employing strategic lies.

To defend oneself from the ugliest side of this world, they had to choose the most lenient way to live. And that is to lie no matter what happens because at the end of the day you survive.

Lies are also weapons, if properly exercise anyone can achieve tremendous profits out of its use. However, if it falls to poor utilization, abuse, and to the point of deceiving yourself.

"Anyone can die..."

Shem took brisk steps towards Eva's subdued kakuja. His mood wasn't that productive. He could not erase his frustrations looking at his suffering patient, much worst a pregnant ghoul.

His treatment didn't go as well as expected. Because of the patient's twisted medical history, Shem's countermeasures failed at Eva's berserk mode.

'Fuck that old ghoul, Fuck this universe, Fuck you Satan, and 'fuck you', to the God who created this world.'

In a pie graph comprising of a random patient population, the 1/4 slice is composed of a group belonging to dishonest patients.

Yes, dishonest patients, who cared nothing about life but to achieved selfish goals. Humans aren't liars in design but they are forced to choose the sweet choice because they want to preserve themselves, as to avoid danger and burden.

"Regardless, of the acceptable reasons. One does not need to lie to compromise health. Doctors and even patients must have a sharp honest relationship with each other." Shem blew his words with his steaming breath.

Physicians had a rough time dealing with their stubborn patients as well as figuring out which treatment should be employed to these pathetic humans. Though technology and science are advanced enough to diagnose even the rarest disease recorded in medicine, still, the complete treatment comes from the patients' will, if he/she wants to live or not. And to also include the decision of the patient's guardian.

With deception, a patient could die if there's a lack of evidence to support a proper treatment.

Shem experienced such cold scenarios when he was a youngling of a field medic, then. There was a time that he witness a misdiagnosed patient eaten up by anti-cancer nanites as a result of wrong information.

Even if technology and knowledge surpass miracles, lies will always be a medical personnel's enemy as well as humanity's great filter to overcome.

These lies are of course coupled with reasons anyone can empathize and disdain. Such as I want my parents to see me suffer so that they could stop working so hard, and care for me for a few of their gold seconds. I want my girl/boyfriend to suffer in guilt so that he/she will be bothered to come back to me and mend our souring relationship. I want my children to care for me as I am losing my life with age. I want to die because the world is unfair. I want to die because things aren't what it used to be. I want to ruin this institution's name so that anyone wouldn't come to this company as they didn't care for their laborers. I lie because of money. I lie because I was paid to lie. I lie because I want my family to ease their burden. I lie because I hate everything. I lie because I'm afraid. I lie because I've been misled. I'm the villain. I killed so many, so I atone my sins with my own life. I lie because it was the right choice. I lie because there were no changes available. I lie because it's the only way to paradise.

There are more reasons to remark, on why patients use deception to avoid proper treatment that undoubtedly leads to a tragic misdiagnosis and improper treatment. In every carefully crafted deception in the medical setting, life is always the price.

"Anyone wants to live longer and experience what life offers. And yet, a stupid minority of the population thinks otherwise. Fuck mindset, there is a God who you can share your fucking shit about life, instead of wasting them like a garbage junkie."

Shem reach his patient and began to analyze her physiology for EMS. His eyes flash with radiation and scanning lasers that are invisible but enough to gather precious medical data to treat his patient. Along with the sophisticated scanning data, the nanites are also providing intracellular real-time data to compare with the scans.

"Huu." Shem blew out his frustration. "Life is filled with diverse shit sometimes you will never know what's coming out from your butt. You only recognize that it smells bad before looking at what it is like."

Nonetheless, you can still wash it away like it was never there. To simply put, live today like your about to die tomorrow. Enjoy every second that you have in your bar of hit-points. As much as possible limit lies for you to live longer, because not all can do so.

[Scanning complete. Patient's physiological condition, normal. Fetal growth and development, normal. The patient's overall data results show no life-threatening factors due to the traumatic impacts she received. Overall evaluations are within acceptable parameters.]

"And the nanites cerebral override?"

[Patients' cerebral override is within 98% completion, estimated time of complete sedation, is 45 seconds.]

"Eva's ghoul is a fucking tank." Shem praises Eva's biology and then continued the conversation with Eliza within his mind. "Thank you by the way partner, it must've been hard combating her enhance, immune system."

[Indeed, the patient's immune system is 10 times stronger than that of humans. Her eosinophil was hard to deal with. The phagocytic ability and its lysosomal secretion capability, dissolve most of the anti-RoS nanites. I had to employ on the spot defensive algorithms to preserve the minimum no. of the nanites.]

After scanning, Shem bobs his body down to examine the kakuja.

"Well done partner," Shem depresses Eva's kakuja meat with his index finger. "We will use the nanite's interaction with the immune cells as an updated template for the nanites enhancements in the future. I don't want to repeat these accidents, again. Additionally, prevent some high dimensional phenomenon, like the last time."

[Affirmative.]

The ghoul's anatomy and physiology were far more complex and powerful than that of humans. They're comparable to the humanoid mutants that fought Shem from the rebellion at his home dimension. There was even a time that he and his comrades fought a mech entirely made-up of organic components. In comparison, that mech was far stronger than that of Eva, but the mechanism and systems are relatively similar, like the muscles for example. They employ high tensile strength carbon shielding components.

"This world is scary if you aren't lucky. Glad I'm a Tausug super soldier."

After archiving all the necessary medical data. Shem decides to remove Eva out from her cancer like kakuja body, and then take her back to the facility for further treatment.

He pulled his dark knife and brandish it with a swing. His callous hands held it tightly while his fusion core's electricity-powered its mechanism. As the electricity flowed into the knife, its sharp edges started to heat up and became sharper.

"Vertical incision at her posterior trunk should be able to get her out." Said Shem as he began his intramuscular incisions.

[Assisting operation.] Eliza augmented Shem's optical vision with physiologic and anatomical diagrams to assist him in pulling Eva's human form out from her kakuja. Flashes of measurements and organ targeting system lightened Shem's optical interface, as he began a series of incisions.

The large frame of the kakuja was facing down, so Shem started to dive down to the kakuja's carcass and spent a brief time dividing apart the horse-like muscles, along with the removal of the carbon fiber-like rib cage, to dig out the madame. Removing all the cut tissues, Shem finally saw the naked madame in her dormant state.

"Ugh, " Shem blush slightly, though he was an expert in the human anatomy, he could not rule out that the madame has a beautiful physique and youthful appearance despite her age. "Ah, probably because of the disease she maintained her youth, well anyway, please don't do something crazy again, Mrs. Fjord."

He carefully removes her out, like removing an organ from a fish, and then carries her into a princess carry position.

"Ok, let's go back."

Shem prepared himself to fly, as he bends his body slightly for a jump up and flies back to the facility. Yet, a mature voice came to cut his preparation.

"Thank you for the compliment young man, but forgive me!"

[Swoosh!]

Eva regained her consciousness in a surprising way as she suddenly stretches her right legs like an acrobat and swing it towards Shem's face. Forcing Shem to pull his head backward by an inch. If the world can be slowed down, he saw her fair baby legs pass horizontally near his face while the winds push his skin and hair away which clearly held a powerful force.

"Oh! Impressive, you evaded my attack." She smiled sadistically while she caresses her belly. She then looks down and puts a motherly face. "Nadia, I'm glad you're on good health. Sorry for what mama has done to you, don't worry I will find a way to find a safe haven for us two. But first, we need to overcome an obstacle, so sleep tight there, Mama will protect you."

Eva then gazes up to Shem while smiling like a beast. She sizes up Shem and recalled her memory while in unconscious state. Her nakedness did not bother her even a bit. She then jumps towards Shem and punches him with her fist and kicks. Her combat martial arts could not be underestimated as Shem's kali was put into the defensive stance.

"I must say your treatment is commendable as well as your combat experience. I don't know how you did it but you lessened the time of me and my daughter's sleep!" Eva said as she continued to attack Shem without dropping a sweat. "Please die, and don't bother us whatever creature you are!"

[Eliza?!] Shem shouted in his mind. This turn of events is beyond reasoning.

[Nanites sedation initiated. Error…Error…Error. Nanites unresponsive. Searching for alternative backup programs. Error.Error.Error. All nanites unit eliminated.]

"Too late those bugs aren't safe." Black veins bulge around Eva and burst out from her back like slimy lava. Black and red goo quickly rush out from her bulging veins and wrapped her around to form yet another supreme hunter kakuja.

"Prepare to die!"

Swooosh! Eva swung his armored right arm towards Shem. Its claw-like hands were thirsting for its victim.

Shem grimaced at the sight; his optical interface was filled with errors regarding the nanites' mission and whereabouts inside Eva's brain.

"Shit! I'm just a medic!" He gritted his teeth. "Combat mode."

His nano embedded integumentary shielding came out like the scale of a dragon. It began to entirely engulf his body in protection with speeds against the impending doom. In a split second, Shem was able to deflect the punch with ease.

BOOM!

The kinetic force was absorbed by the armor. His feet weren't even buried, at the soft white sand.

"Impressive, you're employing the latest armor type quinque. I had to admit that you're the first one to withstood its force. Whatever creature you are, you will not live long enough."

"I'm sorry but I had enough of fighting fair. I had a lot to think about, so I'm not wasting my time here."

Shem held Eva's heavy arms and pulled it towards him. His left arm extended and exposed his palm containing a powerful plasma cannon at the head of the supreme hunter. Eva tried to pull back but wasn't strong enough. She was not fighting a ghoul or a hunter but fighting an enhanced human from the future.

"NO!"

[Eliza protect the child.] Said Shem in an altered voice.

[Affirmative.]

Eva froze at the sight of the blinding light. It was as if he was entering a place called heaven.

"Plasma Cannon!" Shem whispered.

BOOOOSH!

The dark was devoured by the light.
