I went on a year-long hiatus and am back. this is the better-edited version of this book posted here cause the new chapters are better structured and the old needed editing. I will post the new chapters on whichever platform has the most readers, though I am hoping it is this one because the edits are here. Enjoy.)

A Witch's Rage (9)

Ku Jian looked down at the city they had appeared in with cold eyes. She and the Blood Witch were completely unmoved by the bustling scene. She looked at the inn below her and started to descend with a sudden dark cloudy sky in her wake. The Blood Witch saw the gloomy sky and smiled slightly. This girl's magic was getting thicker; she was affecting the entire city sky.

Ku Jian stepped into the inn and silence descended. This was not because of her beauty or any useless nonsense. It was the slight crackling of lightning searing the wood on the doorway and crawling towards the walls that drew their caution.

"Energy Manipulation," some started to whisper. What was going on in the east lands? This time when foreigners came, an energy manipulator was one of them. But the one they have been hearing about is a boy. Now a girl has popped out of nowhere. What was happening?

Ku Jian could still see the marking's in her head leading her up the stairs. She moved up without question, knowing that Nti Anem had marked the person she was looking for and the direction was Edged to her mind. Even if the person ran to another world, the directions would only change and she would still be able to find her. She matched up the stairs, leaving behind lightning marks at every step, through a corridor till she got to a door. With a kick, she slammed it right off its hinges and walked in.

In the room, there was a girl on the bed. While other cultivators sat around. They seemed to be in a meeting. Hearing the door slam open, they frowned and pulled their weapon.

"Who are you?"

"Identify yourself!" voices rang out from several people. Ku Jian looked past those standing to the girl on the bed.

"You," she said and one could now see clearly, the little crackling lightning enveloping her dangerously.

"You know me?" the girl on the bed frowned slightly. The way energy moved around this girl, they needed no telling, this was not a martial skill. No, the girl before her was not using her cultivation.

"Energy Manipulation?" she asked with a frown. She was sure with a look that this girl was a cultivator. A cultivator and energy manipulator, was this even possible? No. Since entering the light realm, odd people have been popping up; that boy that took the tomb and an energy manipulator at first, now an energy manipulator with cultivation? And this girl staring at her from the doorway, her eyes seemed to be staring at a life enemy.

"You dare covet my brother Ed?" Ku Jian stepped into the room.

"You have to tell me who your Brother Ed is first. I have many admirers," she snorted.

Ku Jian took in her small form and sneered, "Just a little bitch," she was standing in front of her the next second, scaring those around to jump into action, but she was faster. She grabbed the girl by the neck and threw her through the inn walls till she landed on the street outside.

"Oh? The little firecracker has been really provoked," the blood witch said as she watched Ku Jian vanish from her sight, probably to appear in the street outside. Those around jumped out the window towards their lady while others finally noticed the old woman in the room. This old woman, she came with the girl, right? They attacked without care, but fate was not on their side as the Blood Witch snapped her finger and muttered a single syllable spell and they all turned into a pool of blood.

She then walked towards the window and looked out into the street. She could not see Ku Jian's figure, so she sighed and turned around. She flicked her wrist as she muttered a spell and a little trail of blood rose into the air and into the white flask she produced from her sleeves. Only then did she step out of the room and descend the stairs.

Outside, Ku Jian descended from the sky, looking down at the fallen form of the girl garbed in red. The girl turned round and stared at Ku Jian in anger.

"You are poorly raised. Who barges into ones..." she said, making to stand only to be slammed back onto the ground. This time, a heavy punch landed on her midsection, causing her to spit blood and saliva. Her fellow clansmen arrived the next second and swung their swords in a coordinated attack.

"Enough!" Ku Jian raised her hand and the cultivators felt their bodies freeze in mid-air. This fight had already attracted a lot of people who retreated in shock at her actions. The blood witch who had just stepped out stared at this and smiled.

"The little thing is practising magic without knowing. Her anger must be strong," she said, stepping forward within the crowd and watching with interest.

"Who are you? How have I offended you? What have you done to me?" the girl in red shouted in frustration. This girl had done something to her from the first throw. She could not rotate the energy in her core. The blood witch sighed slightly. The little firecracker did not do anything to her. She did something to the entire city when she stepped in. She laid down a curse unconsciously and it enveloped the city. The blood witch rubbed her temples at this. This was attracting a lot of attention. The flies around were of no consequence. But she did not want to deal with the big powers. She had always stayed under the radar and kept her girls under the radar for one reason alone. It was not because of fear; it was because she could not be bothered to be involved in the politics of this world. It was easier to serve the Holy Lady when secluded.

"You actually pretend to not know? You dare set a trap for Brother Ed so that you can marry him back to your land? With just you?" the more she talked, the angrier she was. She slammed her fist into the girl's midsection and one could hear a bone crack.

"I did no such thing!" the girl struggled with pain and could only let out such words.

"You dare lie?" Ku Jian's anger only erupted more.

"Yes, yes. I remember. It was a decade ago. But I had long given up!" the girl said and Ku Jian froze. Denying it only seemed to anger her more, so she accepted it.

"A decade?" she asked, "You are that girl of the Fontaine clan, are you not? The one that plotted the Fu clan to fight Brother Ed about a month ago for your own benefit,"

"A month ago? The Fu clan was destroyed a decade ago," she answered and Ku Jian frowned in confusion. She turned and looked into the crowd at the Blood Witch who sighed in return before she looked back at the girl before her.

"A decade has passed? Then, what about Brother Ed?" she asked fervently, shaking the girl till she vomited blood.

"This Ed, you mean the boy who took the tomb?" one of the Fontaine clansmen asked and Ku Jian looked his way. Nti Anem had filled her in on some changes on their side. They had gone to the tomb, and Brother Ed took everything then people started looking for them. This clan plotted in the background to take Ed back home.

"Yes!" she nodded.

"No one knows what happened to him and that energy manipulator. A decade ago, the Fu clan fought and lost. They were never seen again. The powers of the East Lands gathered and fought them but they too were never seen again. The boy and the energy manipulator vanished that day. It has been a decade," the cultivator hurriedly explained. Ku Jian stood there for a while in silence. No one around, even the spectators dared to talk.

"What will you do?" the blood witch asked after a while and she looked up at her.

"I will go to the last place there were seen," she said and the blood witch nodded. She muttered a spell and all; the cultivators and the spectators turned to a pool of blood except the Fontaine cultivator who had explained. The smell of blood instantly filled the air.

"You will take us there," she said to the boy and his body unfroze and landed on the floor covered in blood. His face said it all, he was horrified.
