"You should attend"

"For everything, you try to change there are always consequences when you time travel, the shooting incident, and the near-death situation of Sodiq and Sarah are all of your faults. Take note of what you try to change and make sure it is worth it"

Those were the exact words on a letter Tara saw on her table in her new room. She was trying to imagine who could have written such a letter and how the person was able to know of her time travel when she woke up to discover it was all a dream.

She woke up to someone tapping her on her shoulder gently. When she opened her eyes she saw Lakan staring at her looking unimpressed.

She quickly sat up looking at him suspiciously

"How did you enter my room? She asked with a frown on her face.

" Your door was not locked." He simply replied not bordering to give further details.

Tara thought of what he just said. How was it possible that she left her door open? She was sure she locked her door before sleeping. She could not even remember how she slept off. She must have been very tired.

"It doesn't still give you the right to enter my room. You should have knocked " she scolded him turning her face from him.

"Why should I knock? Lakan asked with a sly smile across his face.

" What if I slept naked or something " She fired back angered that he was finding this funny.

"I am not amongst those men that are moved by the naked body of women. Besides, there is nothing there to hide. Remember I changed your..." He paused without completing the statement as he send his hand through his head mentally scolding himself that she was gradually turning him into a talkative.

Tara immediately felt shy and embarrassed when she realized what he was about to say. It was something she intended to question him about but had forgotten due to her busy she had become.

"Why did you change my clothes that night? she suddenly asked

" In your sleep, you were shivering, I figured you were cold. And you have been wearing those light clothes for too long" Lakan said trying to put up a defense

"But you could have put the clothes on me instead of removing what I was wearing " she countered him.

"That's true but...." Lakan kept quiet without giving her any reply. How was he to tell her that he was ensuring that she was not bugged in any way by her family? In his line of business, he didn't trust anyone, especially since his own family cannot be trusted.

"You were saying something? She asked looking at him with the hope that he would complete the statement.

" No don't worry about that, I just came to inform you of the welcome party for you in my family house today. Do well go get ready we will be leaving by noon" He said trying to walk away.

Before he got to the door Tara walked up to him blocking his movement.

"If you don't complete your statement I won't be going with you anywhere " she threatened him with a deep frown on his face.

Lakan scoffed when he heard say those words. This woman was pushing her luck

"You don't have to come if you don't want to come, you will have my father to deal with. Fortunately for you he seems to like you now," Lakan said pushing her slightly out of his way

Tara couldn't believe what just happened. Lakan just pushed her out of the way. She wanted to go after him but restrained herself knowing she might cause a scene outside her room.

She thought about the Welcome party and tried to remember if she could remember everything that happened as much as she tried to remember she seem to forget till her head began to ache. She guessed it was one of the methods the universe was using to ensure she didn't make changes to everything that concerns her new life.

" You will have to go you don't want your husband's father to be against you too " Sarah spoke slipping in from behind her.

"You listened to our conversation? Tara asked looking at Sarah wondering how she could have been too so close. her to hear everything without any of them knowing.

" I am guessing you didn't know where k came out from. I was in the bathroom all through. I was trying to prepare hot water for your bath" Sarah replied with a smile on her face.

Tara felt relieved, she didn't want to think someone could hear her conversations from outside.

"You should go to the welcome party. Try to make friends with other members of the Blackwaters family. You will need all the help you can get to run your own business " Sarah informed her giving her reasons why she must attend the party.

Tara never thought of that, of course, she was bluffing when she threatened not to attend the party. There is no way she could do anything like that to bring too much attention to herself. She must listen to Lakan who warned her about stepping on too many toes in her family. She would not want to step on Mr. Black Waters but she was ready to step on Jezebel anytime. She must re-establish her friendship with Martha and make it stronger.

"Ensure everything is in place today we want a perfect welcome party for the latest bride today " Jezebel gave instructions to everyone in the family house making preparations for the party as everyone was moving around doing one or two things.

Even if she was not too happy with Tara the Blackwater still had a standard to maintain when it comes to throwing parties.

"Ma'am everything is in place. I am sure Lakan or Tara will not see it coming " Lucas said coming to give Jezebel some information in her ears.

Jezebel gave an evil smile when she heard those words. This party will be a chance to get back at Tara for embarrassing her.
