Chapter 16: The Grandfather Paradox

A few months have passed.

Furtonately, the time machine is done, Aurea have utilized the time in order to create a functionable time machine that allows us to travel freely in time.

"Do you think that this will work?" Aurea asked me.

"As far as I know, my theory is correct, this isn't just a complete replica of the previous time machine. This time machine allows us to create a wormhole in which can enable us to travel in time freely, of course the specs that allows it to contract and expand space is still in there" I explained.

"Hopefully, I wish that this thing can work" I added.

"I really do hope so, this is our last chance of fixing the timeline and preventing an utter chaos" she replied.

"Honestly, as such a young age, I'm very impressed that you're able to create this time machine, specially that the resources are very limited also" I said.

"Well, it's no big deal, it's not that hard, specially when you guys are assissting me for the whole process" she replied.

"Well, there are you two" said by Professor Reginald.

"Hurry up, we have an important thing to discuss, we need you too as soon as possible" said by Dr. Reece.

"What is it? Is there a problem?" I asked.

"No, it is actually a goods news" he said.

While we were gathering in the living room, I was actually curious on what the good news is all about, I really do hope that there will be no bad news.

As soon as everyone gathered on the table, I saw Maia.

"I'm glad that you came" I said.

"Well, I'm part of the team already, is it wrong to participate in the meeting?" she asked sarcastically.

"No, I'm just actually glad that you're here to help us" I replied.

"Woah, calm down love birds, we have an important thing to discuss" Dr. Reece said.

"Let's get down to the business, shall we?" said by Glady.

"I have discovered the foundation date of the UN, the exact date and time and also the location of their first facility" he said.

"How did you find it?" asked by Professor Reginald.

"Well, it is not that hard, their operations must be delt in secret but their organization is not kept in secret. By a few trusted source, I've been able to track them down" he said.

"So? When was it? Do you even know who's the founder?" I asked.

"January 17, 1978" he said.

"The founder is August Tiago Alix" he added.

Wait, wha-a-a-t?

I certainly know that man, he's my great grandfather, I only heard him in the stories of course, he's already dead when I was born.

Don't tell me that I'm going to eliminate my own grandfather? Own relative of mine?

What a coincidence.

Our bloodline is the reason why many timeline are already crumbled.

"We're going to send at least two members of the team to the past in order to eliminate or prevent the foundation of the UN" Dr. Reece said.

"But who are we sending?" asked by Aurea.

"I've already decided, out of all of us, these two are the only people that has better chance of survival" said by Dr. Reece.

"Then who was it?" asked by Glady.

"Aurea and Amiel" he said with a serious face.

"I'm actually baffled, why them? Isn't it better if it is just the two of us, Reece? We can't let the youth be exposed to grave danger" Professor Reginald said.

"But even if we go there, it is futile. I personally choose those two because of a specific reason. The first one is that Amiel is a genius, he can always come up to a solution in every problem, specially in the time and space. While on the other hand, Aurea knows the time machine really well, if another problem popped up, I'm certain that she can also fix it. If the two of them are combined, then the success rate of the mission if superb" Dr. Reece said.

I actually agree with him, out of all people, I guess the two of us are the only option.

"I want to come too" said by Maia.

"Ms. Maia, I really love to see your enthusiasm, but the capacity of the time machine is still only suitable for two people. Don't you agree with me that out of the all of us, these two are the only plausible options?" Dr. Reece asked.

"Yes, I do agree with you, bu-but"

"There's no but, all of our lives is on the line here" he said.

"Wait, Dad, hold on. I think there is a flaw into our plan" Aurea said.

"What is it?" he asked.

"Look at the name of the founder, does the surname looks familiar to you?"

"Oh, wait, hold on. What the hell is happening? Why didn't I realized this im the first place?" Dr. Reece said.

"By any means, Amiel, are you related to this man?" he asked me as if he was shocked.

"I guess there's no lying now.

I am indeed connected to that man. He's my grandfather's dad. I only hear his name of course, I have never seen him before, but the picture you showed us earlier confimed his identity" I said.

I saw the look on his face, also in Glady and Professor Reginald.

It seems like Aure already got the gist of what's happening.

"What's with the look of everyone? Is there something wrong that I'm the only one is not aware off?" Maia asked.

"Calm down, Maia" I said.

"Ms. Maia, it just mean that if Amiel is going to eliminate his great grandfather, then it means that his existense will also vanish. If he goes back to the past to kills his great grandfather, then he is not gonna be able to come back to this timeline, he will go along with his grandfather" Professor Reginald explained.

"Then we can't allow Amiel to go, we can't allow this mission to commence, I'm completely against it" replied by Maia.

"But it is the only way, who knows? Maybe some other day, we will be haunted by the UN and be killed. We also have the possession to a time machine that can freely travel with time. This time, they wouldn't even bother to spare Amiel. They can kill us all and get the time machine, that would spell doom for the whole world" Dr. Reece replied.

"But why don't we ask Amiel first? Maybe he's against it" Maia said.

"I truly understand your concern, Maia. But this catastrophe is caused by me, and my team, we need to resolve this mess" I said.

"But your safety is on the line" she replied.

"Are you willing to put everyone in danger just for the sake of one person?" I asked.

"If that one person is the only important person in my life, I'm willing to do so. Some of those people that we are going to save might be murderers, rapists and such, a cruel world like this shouldn't be saved" she said.

"I'm also on the same page as you, if the person that I'm saving are the most important person in my life, then I'd rather die than to see them suffer. You all are the most important persons in my life right now, we shared thousands of memories that are irreplaceable, it is only retained in my mind right now, those memories are my precious treasures" I replied.

"I came here to save you, Maia. I would do anything just to see you live. It pains me to see you die twice, I don't want to suffer from that situation again. I don't want to see any of you die, hence, I'm willing to do the mission" I replied.

"I want to spent a whole day with you before you go" Maia said.

"Sure, anything for you, my dear" I replied.
