Greatest Warrior

"I want you to take our greatest warrior with you. We don't know much of the outside world. With the cruel humans that have been wandering through the forrest lately, we must prepare. We need allies. This warrior will follow you and learn from you. " Thannon asked. At least, to him it was asking, though his voice and tone made it a comand. Kiro was about to explain just how new he was here too when a smaller furry wolf entered carrying a sheathed sword.

"The blade, Alpha." He knelt down in front of Thannon and handed over the blade. Thannon unsheathed the long black blade and held it out to admire. It reminded Kiro of a black hole. There was no light on the blade and no reflection. The darkness seemed to swallow all light around it giving it a dark aura.

"This now belongs to you, Kiro Higame." Thannon sheathed it and practically slammed it into Kiro's arms. "We are done here. I have to go."

He left his cave and howled causing all the bustling to stop. Everyone stared at them in waiting. Even Kiro felt the silence as he held the sword close.

"Our new member is ready for his mission while we attend ours. Leda, you will do us proud." Thannon's thundering voice echoed around the clearing and Leda kneeled at Thannon's feet. "Our best warrior and my daughter, I am so proud of you. Do the clan proud as you complete your mission with our new clansman."

This time, Thannon's howl was echoed by the entire pack. Kiro listened then realisation hit. Leda was the best warrior and Thannon's daughter. Looking at her, he would never have guessed it.
