Mr. Collin sighed a long breath to understand such pain. "I know it might seem cruel to think I chose to sacrifice your colleagues to feed Kai. But I can assure you, everyone except for Tom had a set fate with the death angel. I picked Tom because of his evil heart. Which stopped him from doing horrible things in the future. Three years from now, Donny would have died in a plane crash. Susie would have died in her sleep from an unknown disease in the next two years..."
He went on and on telling me how each death would have occurred with my team members. Somewhere during his explanation, my mind drew a blank. Utter shock pulsated my brain.
"How could you know any of this? How could you assume they'd die?" I merely ask in a whisper, extremely upset.
"Mr. Collin frowned, "my one gift foresees fated death among certain individuals and I can get a glimpse of future events that might change because not everything is set accordingly. Futures can always change at any moment."
"How could you know they'd die?" I asked more bitterly. "What if that changed?"
"Death doesn't change, only how it might happen, can change," frowned Mr. Collin.
"And Ben, you knew he'd pass?" I asked, more aggressively.
Mr. Collin replied sadly. "That wasn't meant to happen. Ben was to die in a nursing home at age ninety-six. He was going to live a long happy life, married to Ms. Thorn. Unfortunately, Rex took his life and altered that timeline. God has someone else for Ms. Thorn to marry and a different future in mind for her."
I was rather shocked and heartbroken to hear this news.
Mrs. Collin stated beside my right. "God sends an angel only we can see to stop any vampire from feeding on any particular human that has a purpose of serving God that cannot be altered. For nothing stands in God's way. Not even us."
I sorta nodded to already know nothing can stand in God's way. What I didn't know was that vampires existed this whole time.
"Whenever Kai woke up, this is why you fired me?" I asked.
"It was to keep you safe from Kai erroneously feeding on you," Mr. Collin answered.
I gritted angrily, "Kai got me arrested! It took him a month to bail me out!"
Duncan confessed, "After Kai fed, we tried to stop him, but he refused to listen because he had to see you. He was gone before we could cease him. Unfortunately, he was pretty much covered in blood and still wore that rotted linen kilt."
'Welcome back...' Suddenly I knew whose voice I heard whenever I mentally traveled and saw the death of my team members.
Duncan said 'Welcome back' but his voice got muffled out while I was leaving the time-gap. Until now, I didn't realize it was him.
"And it took a month for us to get most of Kai's killer instincts under control to somewhat trust he wouldn't feed off you," Mr. Collin told me. "Plus, he was furious to learn you fell in love with Orlando, whose family's descendants have been business rivals with us for some time now."
I sighed since Kai didn't know Orlando. He shouldn't hate him just because I love him.
"How did you find me?" I asked in a frail voice.
This time my Professor answered. "I helped with that when I looked for girls that looked like you and shared your characteristics. I told Mrs. Collin about you and they looked into your case. Just before you left the orphanage is when I stopped you and took you under my wing. The whole time, Mr. Collin paid for your intuition for College. At the time, we didn't interfere with your life in case you weren't Kai's mate. Although, I was certain that you were."
"From the start, you knew?" I queried my Professor and he sadly nodded his head.
"We saw you were ambitious like the other girls and women we were testing," proclaimed Mrs. Collin. "Unfortunately, we didn't believe it was you until your heart had already fell for Orlando. Even though you passed the biggest test whenever you could read that rare language."
I raised a curious brow and repeated. "The rare language only some can read?"
"Yes, it is the language of the vampires," Mr. Collin confirmed. "For this coming Blue Moon. Only you and nineteen other girls knew how to read it."
I breathed to collect this information and ask. "If Kai didn't want to be found. Then how did you discover where he was sleeping the whole time?"
Mr. Collin smiled lightly and enlightened me. "I'm his father. Naturally, at some point, I smelled his scent but I still couldn't figure out where he was hidden, asleep. That's where you came along and found him for us when the others had failed."
"Others?" I raised a brow to realize they mentioned this more than once.
Mrs. Collin explained. "Yes, other girls dig up the site throughout the decades nearing every brightest blue moon. Long before you or your Professor were born."
"How did everybody keep forgetting about the existence of the ancient city?" I asked, puzzled.
"Rome has the gift to wipe out memories," Mr. Collin replied. "Otherwise, time also did that for us."
"Right, I forgot Kai mentioned something about that when he told me how he hid," I said, calling. "I suppose, generations dying over time would be helpful."
Mr. Collin proceeded. "Anyways, after being notified about you. We were still skeptical if it was you but I still put you on the team to test you. Since the chosen nineteen girls failed and weren't successful this nearing Blue Moon on the excavation site. They resembled you and shared similar traits but none of them was Kai's mate. Until we tested you on the site."
"What traits are you talking about?" I asked, puzzled.
"Your dreams and Time-gap gift are ones," my Professor shared.
"That's a lot to take in," I said, taking an exhausted sigh when our food came in. Once everyone started to eat, I asked, "How old is Kai since he existed during the ancient civilizations?"
"Whenever Kai is ready, he will answer more of your questions," Mrs. Collin replied before she sipped her soup like me.
"Are you the Headmaster, Mr. Collin?" I asked and he gave me a knowingly smile.
"Why don't you eat what you can and feed that vamp grandbaby of ours? In due time, Kai will tell you everything," Mr. Collin enlightened me without giving me a clear answer.
Once finished, my Professor went home and so did we. I crawled into bed and fell asleep faster than I realized.
At last the mystery about the pharaoh has been unmasked. Did you guess it was Kai? Maybe Rex or something else? Tell me your thoughts.
Now that questions are getting answered. More twists are to come. Unfortunately, Victoria heartache has been nothing compared to what is coming.
A good question to ask is who is the Headmaster and what Generation is Kai? What's your guess?
Drama is bound to occur but it will work itself out. Please leave a review. Thank you for the power stones.
