"Mom, I don't think my grades are gonna get any better just by moving me to a new school," I groaned from the backseat of my parent's SUV. My arms were crossed over the seatbelt and my head was leaning on the window as I stared out at the fields and fields of grass and grass and grass...

"Grace, this isn't just because of your grades. The school system in messed up in Montana. Your sister's school was bad too. Plus, now we'll be closer to Charlie.

I rolled my eyes. Of course this was all about Charlie! He's my older brother by 3 years,

so he's a sophomore in college. And not just any college, he goes to Berkeley! Some standards I have to live up to. "Whatev—"

"COW!!!" my sister Hannah shouted so loudly that my dad swerved into the other lane of the road.

"What the hell, Hannah!!! You almost got us killed!" I screamed back at her.

"I see a cow! This is the first thing I've seen other than grass for hours!" She was right. A light brown cow was grazing the field. The farther we got, the more cows appeared in sight.

"Are we getting close?" I asked. My stomach flipped, not sure if it was excited or nervous.

My dad smiled from the drivers seat. "Actually Grace, we're here."
