"Hahahaha! Time to meet your maker, you scum!"
Uvogin's laughter boomed as he effortlessly snapped another neck, the sickening sound reverberating through the area.
"Fuck, I'm not ready for this shit..."
Panic spread among the remaining mafia mobs, their faces drained of color as they attempted to flee while firing their weapons.
But their efforts were in vain.
Despite his injuries, Uvogin remained a formidable opponent, swiftly closing the distance with each stride.
Crack...
A bloodthirsty grin stretched across Uvogin's face as he mercilessly dispatched the fleeing mobsters, leaving no chance for escape.
However, amidst the chaos, some of the mobsters, driven by fear or perhaps fueled by adrenaline, launched themselves at Uvogin from all directions.
But then...
"...!"
Uvogin's instincts kicked in, sensing imminent danger. He swiftly ducked and rolled along the ground just in time.
Puchi... puchi... puchi...
Needle-like darts struck the oncoming mobsters, their faces contorting in agony as the poison swiftly overcame them.
Their bodies convulsed briefly before collapsing to the ground... lifeless...
Uvogin turned to look at new arrivals and saw one with a wooden masked guy holding a blowgun who clicked his tongue.
There were some others but a quick scan revealed their overall strength to him in an instant.
In his prime condition, Uvogin knew he could easily dispatch all of them without breaking a sweat.
But now...
Even with his formidable strength, the grin on Uvogin's face widened as he acknowledged the danger he faced in his current weakened state.
"Huh? More people coming haha..."
His heart raced with adrenaline as he infused his body with Nen, preparing for the impending confrontation.
"...!"
But just as he braced himself, his eyes widened in shock, and he swiftly leaped away.
Despite his agility, it was too late.
"Urgh...??"
Agonizing pain shot through his body, and he couldn't help but groan in distress.
Thud...
The unmistakable sound of something hitting the sand echoed nearby.
Uvogin's gaze fell upon his severed right arm, cleanly removed from his body.
Gritting his teeth against the pain, he turned to face a man clad in military attire, seething with anger.
"One arm down," the man declared coldly, his tone laced with menace.
"Kekeke..."
The assassin licked the blood off his military knife, a sinister grin on his face, "Don't worry, sweetheart. I'll savor your demise, every agonizing moment of it."
Uvogin's response was a venomous grin, his eyes ablaze with fury.
With a sudden burst of speed, he charged toward the man, only to be met with a deafening boom!
Clouds of dust billowed outward, revealing a crimson-haired figure whose locks seemed to move like lethal weapons.
"Please don't ignore us," the crimson-haired man taunted, twirling his hair as the other assassins surged forward, eager to join the fray.
As the assassins closed in, Uvogin bellowed, "Bring it on! I'll take you all down at once, you motherfuckers!"
Kurapika watched the chaos unfolding outside, his fists clenched in frustration.
He wanted them to stop toying with Uvogin and finish him off swiftly.
"...Insane bastards," he muttered bitterly, realizing that these supposed elite assassins were nothing more than sadistic psychopaths.
Instead of targeting vital areas, they focused on inflicting superficial wounds, slowly sapping Uvogin's strength and leaving him vulnerable.
"Do you want to stay around?"
Raymond suddenly stood up, asking Kurapika.
Kurapika immediately turned to him and responded, "Yeah, I have to make sure he's dead... You're leaving?"
"There is nothing more to see here..."
"..."
Kurapika's eyes gleamed at the response, assuming Raymond's plan had been set in motion.
There was no need to see more of it, so he nodded, "I see..."
"Besides, I have some other stuff to do tomorrow... You know I'm kinda busy..."
Raymond continued as he slowly made his way out of the empty room, heading out of the abandoned building.
Sakujiro and Sin bowed as they followed right after him.
"..."
Kurapika looked at the door from which Raymond had exited, then glanced at the chessboard Raymond had left behind, falling into contemplation.
"...Why would he reveal his plan to me?"
He knew Raymond had intentionally let him in on all of this.
Though Raymond might have wanted to prevent him from taking action because he was eager to immediately kill Uvogin, Kurapika knew that Sakujiro was enough to stop him, or even the young man about his age who wore glasses, Sin.
"These two people on his side are strong..."
That was what he felt just by interacting with them.
And Raymond...
Though he wasn't sure, as he didn't feel this way around Raymond before.
It might be because he had finally learned this unsettling side of Raymond, but Kurapika felt a chill just being around him.
"...It's as if he's suddenly gotten stronger," he muttered before shaking his head.
Kurapika thought it would be impossible, considering only a few months had passed since the last time they met.
However...
None of that mattered as his eyes lit up with realization about Raymond's plan.
He didn't have much attachment to the Nostrade Family, much less the Ten Dons!
By allowing them to clash and attempt to destroy each other, Kurapika was thrilled at the prospect of preying on them when they were weakened.
"This is a golden opportunity!"
Fighting the Ten Dons wouldn't be an easy feat, considering they had a lot of forces under them.
"It might be why he let me know all of this," Kurapika spoke to himself with a smile, "I should've thanked him..."
He then looked out the window at the ongoing battle, noticing that the assassins were consistently gaining the upper hand.
Meanwhile...
"Master, are you trying to recruit him?"
Sakujiro suddenly asked as the car drove through the quiet city, Raymond casually enjoying the city lights.
"What makes you think so?"
"I've known you long enough to recognize when you're pulling strings for a good reason. However, I just can't figure out why. And I've watched him single-handedly beat up that child from the Phantom Troupe..."
"Oh? That does make sense, since I always recruit talented people to the company..."
"That's right, I could see that he's a committed guy," Sin chimed in, recalling his meeting with Kurapika earlier.
However...
"But, no, I'm not planning to recruit him... He's only strong against the Phantom Troupe," Raymond clarified, shaking his head.
He barely felt any threatening aura from Kurapika, which meant his abilities followed the same rules as in the canon.
"I want him to stay on their side firmly..."
"..."
Raymond revealed, eliciting confused looks from Sakujiro and Sin. However, Raymond chuckled, a grin spreading across his face.
Kurapika's presence was the perfect icing on the cake in the current situation.
Despite the risk it posed to his plan, Raymond was confident it wouldn't fail.
"My plan is perfectly imperfect. So what if they get more clues? That would make things even better..."
His chuckles sent chills down both Sakujiro and Sin's spines as sweat trickled down their foreheads.
