Descent Of The Sacred Beings

A vigorous chant full of power echoed across the land causing all those that heard it to look up.

Even the Demons that were causing havoc seemingly paused for a moment, as if frozen in time.

"Vile Demons! I'll slaughter you all!" The voice of a man filled with fury was heard, before a blinding light filled the sky.

~BOOM~

An explosion happened, blinding everyone. No other sound could be heard over it and when the light finally disappeared the blue sky appeared above.

"What…" The people watching it were stunned as the swarm of hornless demons had simply disappeared!

Asher who saw this couldn't believe his eyes.

~humm~

But a moment later, a few figures came into his vision.

Three people seemed to be standing in the sky, making all those that saw them confused.

The figure in the lead was that of a man seemingly in his twenties and had a golden ring behind his back. To this ring two wings were attached and were gently flapping in the air. He wore pure white robes with golden edges and had a furious expression on his face.

Behind him were two more people, one was a man while the other was a woman. Similar to him, they had the golden ring with wings attached behind them too.

But the clothes they wore were different.

The woman wore light blue robes with long red tassels. She had long hair and a tense expression was present on her face. From her appearance, she seemed to be in her early twenties.

The second man on the other hand wore white robes similar to the first one, but didn't have the golden edges. He also seemed to be older than the other two winged individuals, looking to be in his late twenties.

"Sourcefather Provides! Tidemother Guides!" Upon seeing these three individuals, all the surviving humans below chanted. "I-Immortals! Divine Immortals have come to save us!" they cried out.

Many had heard about the legends of the Immortals that lived in the heavens above. They were sacred beings that were rarely seen, but had come to help humans from time to time, in their times of needs.

"Immortals… real ones…" Asher said under his breath. "Just like grandmother described them…"

Immortals were among the few beings that could fly and had wings. This put them high above the humans, including the Mages and Warriors as only a few could fly.

Even among the Mages, the number of individuals that could fly was limited and even those that could fly, did so for a limited time. Immortals on the other hand could fly as long as they want.

"If they dare to come out of their holes, they need to be erased." The white robed man on the back spoke with spite.

"The people… They've killed so many." The woman in the light blue dress spoke, sadness flickering in her eyes.

"They won't kill any more." The Immortal in the lead spoke. "I'll kill them all." He stated before extending his index and middle finger while curling the rest.

~humm~

"Purging Light Blade!" The Immortal said, as light gathered on his fingers.

The light condensed into a two meter long blade extending straight from his finger.

"DIE!" The Immortal Shouted before slashing out towards the swarm of demons on the ground.

~HONG~

An arc of light extended from the slash, flying towards the demons in the blink of an eye. The arc grew as wide as the entire swarm of demons and passed through them. It all happened suddenly, and the demon's didn't even have a chance to cry before they were split in half.

~BOOM~

Then a second later, another explosion happened turning the bodies of all demons into ashes.

Asher who witnessed the scene was awed.

"They're all gone… Such power." He could only marvel at the scene.

"SKEEEG~" The cry of the Slug Demon, pulled Asher's attention making him look over.

"It's trembling?" Asher saw the Slug Demon frozen in its place.

The demon was letting out cries that were easily recognizable to be that of utter fear.

"It's scared… Scared of the immortals." Asher understood, causing a new emotion to rise in his heart. 'If I had such power… they wouldn't have died… Berk wouldn't have died… everything would still be fine.' He thought to himself.

While Asher had long since known power dictated a lot in this world, this was the first time he had witnessed such overwhelming power. A mere flick of a hand was all it took for the Immortal to kill all the demons. There were so many demons that even Mages and Warriors would be hard pressed to kill them in a short time.

And yet, the Immortal had done that very thing in seconds.

"Ugh! There's still one disgusting demon left." The Immortal behind scowled. "Let me take care of it, Master Yan." He said before pointing with his finger.

~bzzt~

"Impaling Bolt." He uttered.

A strange buzzing sound was heard before a blue lightning bolt fell shot out from the immortal's finger!

The lightning bolt moved at a blinding pace and struck the Slug Demon's head.

~hiss~

A burning smell spread, as a hole appeared on top of the Slug Demon's head.

~thud~

And then a moment later, its body toppled over, falling to the ground.

"Ah!" Tess was startled and stumbled back.

They gulped and watched it all with wide eyes. It was all surreal to them as they had been on the edge of death just a few seconds ago. And now, it had been solved with ease.

"We thank the Divine Immortals!" But soon they snapped out of their shock and shouted out loud.

They knelt on the ground and clasped their hands in prayer.

Immortals were sacred beings that had been worshiped since times immemorial. Now that they had been saved by these very beings, it was normal for them to feel incredible faith in them.

The devotion was simply overwhelming and Asher felt the same, following the others in prostration.
