A Rain Of Qi

I messed up our tracks as we searched for a suitable spot to lure the Mo'gar. The plan was to grab their attention, heading in another direction to confuse them before joining back with the others. With my skills, I was confident I could lose them. Since the Class Rep was with me, I didn't have to worry about long ranged attacks to lure the enemy over.

I explained the plan, "We will lure them all the way back to where we fought the others. Then we will split at the oasis. Make your way back to the group then."

"What about you?"

"I will fool them into thinking we went north, then join you guys back."

"You're going to use the worms?"

I smiled, "Your brain is wasted on Jiwan!"

She didn't get mad, smiling instead. It didn't take long to find a suitable spot to snipe. The steep and uneven terrain was very favorable to hiding. From where we stood, we could barely see the enemy.

"Isn't this a bit too far?"

"It would be if we were looking to kill. But we only need to piss the leader off. They are easily rattled. There's no need to risk ourselves even more by getting too close."

"Okay. I'll pretend I didn't notice the fact that you know my Class Abilities and range better than me, since I know you won't answer me clearly," the Class Rep smiled deviously.

'Would you believe this was my second life? Hell no,' I sighed, "It's better that way. Ready?"

"A second," she breathed, looked at the sky, and nodded.

The Class Rep got up, extended and pointed her arm forward like an archer would, pure Qi forming a longbow. She knocked a Qi arrow, stabilizing her breathing. The Qi string was almost invisible, thin. An impressive sight once again.

'A Qi weapon... Condensing Qi, I could also create a sword…' I thought about it before. With my Qi control, it should be possible to create a sword, but my energy was still weak and not pure enough to maintain and make it sharp.

Unlike the Class Rep, I didn't have passive skills and abilities to help form the weapon. Before I could wander further into my thoughts, the arrow became thicker, concentrating on a sizeable amount of New Qi.

The sight was familiar to me. The Qi Archer ability [Snipe], a long-range powerful shot which needs time to prepare. If she aimed at one of the common Mo'gar, it would be instant kill, but our goal this time around wasn't to whittle their numbers, but to piss them off.

With a snap of the string, the Qi arrow flew, cutting through the air at impressive speed. The Second Rank Mo'gar walked while giving out orders, when his instincts warned about something ominous coming, and he looked behind.

The Qi arrow hit straight in the head like a hammer. Because of the distance, It wasn't strong enough to pierce. The Mo'gar roared crazily, his eyes fixated on us even despite the distance. Raising his left hand, a powerful ball of Qi formed almost as fast as my [Quick Thought] ability worked.

"What is he doing?"

"Hm, that's..."

The ball of Qi expanded, bursting into dozens of Qi Rays that flew in a spinning and erratic motion through the air, advancing at an extreme speed towards us.

"SHIT. JUMP!" I grabbed the Class Rep, jumping away just in time to see the Qi Rays devastate the spot we were at, destroying salt-like rocks and ground alike. The Class Rep fell on top of me, but she didn't seem to mind. We had bigger things to worry about.

"Didn't expect that, did you?" She said jokingly, "It seems you actually don't know everything with that ability of yours."

I didn't know every trail in this world. I never saw a Qi Trail capable of shooting in an amazing range like that aside from the Qi Archer.

I calmed myself down. It didn't change our strategy unless the Mo'gar leader was also fast. If that was the case…

The Mo'gar screamed, rushing towards us.

"Let's go!" We got up and bolted. I sensed another round of Qi Rays incoming not long after, "JUMP!"

We dodged, costing us precious time. The fastest Mo'gar came closer. Not everything was bad news: the Mo'gar leader wasn't moving. He probably couldn't move and shoot.

But that didn't make the bad news any better: his skill had an absurd range and precision!

We kept running, and no matter the direction we took, another wave of Qi Rays came. They aimed in front of us, forcing a change of direction. The rays became even faster, spinning randomly, becoming harder to dodge. We had no choice but to step back several times, allowing the Mo'gar to catch up.

One of them jumped, striking at me with his jagged tool. I parried the attack using the jagged tool I got from the First Rank Mo'gar body, countering with a hit on his chest. Two more Mo'gar followed.

"Follow the plan. Keep running!" I shouted.

The Class Rep didn't bother worrying about me, running towards the oasis.

'I like how she doesn't waver, but couldn't she at least worry a little?' I couldn't help but smile while fending off the upcoming Mo'gar using the NOEA style, 'At least I won't have to worry about Qi Rays com-'

The moment I heard Qi burst, I knew I was wrong. The leader didn't care if his minions were on the way. [Quick thought] activated. I held a Mo'gar up in front of me to soak the attack. The thing gruntled and screamed in pain, the Qi Rays tearing apart his body, almost passing through to me.

I tossed the dead Mo'gar aside, running like the wind. The Class Rep branched out from where we planned. The Mo'gar were fast, but I was alone now. They couldn't catch me. I was finally out of the sniper's range, and the Qi Rays stopped coming. This area was also full of Lopworms, and I knew exactly how to rile them up by sending Qi into the ground.

I left trails in the opposite direction to confuse them, riling as many Lopworms as I could. They turned into deadly traps, just waiting for the Mo'gar to step into their range and become their food. Between my speed, the rough terrain, the Lopworms and the clumsy Mo'gar, I had little trouble erasing my trail with Qi and vanishing with my past training.

It didn't take long to circle around and find the Class Rep waiting halfway before Jiwan and the others.

"You did it."

"You didn't look worried at all," I said.

She smiled, "Let's go."

Despite appearances, I was exhausted. I wanted nothing more to lie down and rest, but, although the hard part seemed over now, I could help Little Somi and head to Sonis City.

Or so I thought.
