Give Us More!

Azrael, that opportunistic bastard. I almost laughed when I saw the lightbulb in his mind flare to life. What's ironic is that he seems to have gotten the idea to hoodwink that Matt guy when Magnus presented the possibility himself!

The god of death was like, "Oh! Great idea, Magnus! Your friend's already thinking of leaving, anyway. Why don't I give him another push? I'll have to thank you and Terra for this opportunity!"

Terra being the god who has orchestrated the entire scenario. Meaning, she is the one who has led the redhead to that apartment. Her efforts to kill Magnus' friends have borne fruit for Azreal to swoop in and take the spoils to himself.

Terra killing Mei Liu has opened up the window for Azrael to lure in the grieving and thus vulnerable son. However, the god's real target has never been Matt. No, Matt will just act as a stepping stone. He has a more appetizing prey in mind.

I watch as the god's eyes are locked onto a black-haired teenage boy currently practicing his swordsmanship in the parking lot. Azreal has been eyeing this kid for some time now. However, he continues to fail on selecting him as a Protagonist. Which means, the boy has already borne the status. But when he made the inquiry to the other gods, none of them admitted to owning him. In fact, they all gave him pretty much the same answer: the system is simply blocking them from recruiting the kid.

If he was already carrying the status as a Protagonist, and none of the gods were responsible for this, then who might his Author be?

Azreal's eyes then shift to a taller teenage boy with dirty blond hair. He's currently sitting at the dining table, chatting with his parents. Thankfully, he hasn't bothered using that blasted thing that can block the gods' sight from the mortals. He probably thinks his friend practicing swordsmanship alone is no big deal.

This huge abnormal pain in the ass has been threatening the peace in Heaven for the longest time. The gods have even decided to convene in The Hall to discuss what to do with him. After many disagreements later, the session was closed without yielding a definite conclusion. This is the problem with these divine beings. They're each pursuing their own interests, and are just too stubborn for their own good.

Well, I do take pleasure in watching their childish squabbles. So do The Viewers.

I know the gods have brought up the likelihood that Magnus is an Author in the past. A lot of hints have pointed toward that possibility. However, it's just hard for them to accept this notion. In fact, many argue that harboring such thought is considered blasphemy.

There's no way The Viewers would bestow The Script to an entity other than the gods! They are the only ones deserving, after all!

The idea that a mere human, however strange his origin of Divinity is, is allowed to wield such power sounds so preposterous that the gods simply decided to shelve it. They refuse to think that there's more than one of The Script, and that The Viewers think it's okay to grant it to one puny mortal.

Oh, how far they are from the truth! They're holding on to their conviction so tightly it just looks like they're desperate! It's hilarious!

They're still under the illusion that The Viewers think so highly of them, that their mission to make entertaining stories is an honor. And that when The Viewers are happy, they would one day be able to ascend to where these mysterious entities are.

I'll have to disagree, though.

Making The Viewers happy would definitely ensure the survival of this Universe, and the gods would be able to continue living happily and comfortably in the prosperous Heaven, with the promise of ascension dangling just in front of their eyes.

However, that's not really what I envisioned when I started all of this. I wanted something more. More than the enjoyment of The Viewers. Something more…real.

Out of all the beings residing in this Universe, Magnus is perhaps the only one who knows and, more importantly, accept the true nature of The Viewers. Even with his limited knowledge, he can still deduce the vague idea about what The Viewers truly want. He's aware that it is not an honor to serve as someone's dancing monkey.

He's got common sense, the very thing those powerful divines are lacking.

And this just excites me even more! His development so far has shown the results I've been yearning to see when I first came up with my revolutionary idea.

He is as close to being real as I could possibly have imagined. This just goes to show that my idea of remaking the Universe isn't a mistake.

Sometimes, I'm even tempted to talk to him face to face. However, it's not good to spoil things too early. And I know this is just the beginning of his journey. He needs to do so much more in order to close the gap between us.

I glance at the screen showing what The Viewers are saying.

'Oh, one of the little girls and that lady I forgot the name of died? Well, good riddance.'

'They're just dead weight to Magnus!'

'Hey, look what Azrael is up to! I can tell he's scheming something. He's always like this.'

'Cotton Eye Joe is rushing to the bathroom again! What did he eat this time?'

'Oh, wow. Look at poor Atlantis! When will he get over it and come out of his room?'

'I sense a storm coming to that Tyler guy. He's gonna go through a drastic change soon. Mark my words.'

'Oh, look! Killjoy's already heading to Chicago!'

'More deaths, please!'

'Does Magnus realize Matt never returned his gauntlets despite quitting the Team?'

I stretch my arms and yawn. The Viewers have been enjoying the progression of Magnus' story so far. Well, most of them. Some Viewers are just too preoccupied watching other POVs.

Magnus really needs to open the Mission screen and check on the Satisfaction Level.

With that said, though, I'm still expecting more. Honestly. There needs to be more extremes happening to and around him. The fact that he still holds a bit of control over the situations is a bit of a turnoff.

He needs that extra 'oomph'.

Have the gods given him enough problems? Probably.

Has his group gone through enough trials by fire? Well, the deaths definitely play a pretty big role in it.

I know he's even constantly being proactive in empowering his family and friends. And even though him and forethoughts don't really get along, he still possesses barely adequate mental capacity to perform careful planning.

But still, something is just lacking. I can't really put my finger on what it is, though. Is it even alright to force him to carry the entire story?

I sweep my gaze upon many other POVs. There are others who can present perhaps even more compelling stories. But the thing is, most of them are just repeats from the original Universe. I'm not really the kind of person who enjoys rewatching.

Magnus is the only one who's bringing something new. He's the anomaly I and The Viewers have allowed to exist, after all.

"Come on, Magnus. Give us something more!" I yell to the screen.

*Achoo!*

Magnus rubbed his nose and frowned. 'I feel like somebody's talking about me.' He then looked up at the sky.

After a realization crossed his mind, he rolled his eyes. 'Oh, who am I kidding? Somebody's ALWAYS talking about me.'
