Chapter 29: Howl at the Moon

-LEENA-

Somehow days turned into weeks and the full moon is quickly approaching, everyone excited and on edge in a way that I’ve never seen in Alec alone. I’ve seen him through more than one full moon now, but the energy and excitement in the air is surreal with this many wolves in close proximity.

“Are you ready for tonight?” Alec asks, rubbing at his thigh and trying to loosen the muscle that still hasn’t healed fully, occasionally causing cramps and tightness. But it’s not even a shadow of how bad it was before, and he’s on his feet and lifting me off the porch and into a spin before I can attempt to mother him about it.

Alec puts me down beside him and leaves his hands on me, moving them to settle on my ribs; those, too, are healing nicely, fingers and palms still scarred and stiff, but they work, better than I could’ve ever hoped for after seeing what they looked like at their worst.
