Chapter 5 - The courtyard

I rushed down the corridor as my dress was dragged by the wind, pulling me back.

It was already my first day, yet I had caused too much trouble, which could get me killed by the king and his army.

I had to reclaim my thoughts without someone spying or interrupting me because Adora and Azami knew that eyes were everywhere.

I searched left and right to find no one lurking in the shadows.

Yet I felt an eerie presence as if someone was observing me, watching my every move.

As I walked down the hallway, chandeliers glistened above me as crystal statues gazed at my lost soul.

The paintings of the wars fought by Gods fascinated me though I only knew so little about the history of Gods.

Even now the mortals still worshipped us like we were the hope they had been searching for but I was not their hope.

I was young and incompetent to those who lived longer lives than I had.

I had already made enemies with Damien and Alina even though they had started the war between us.

If only I could understand what these Gods wanted from me or if they were plotting a plan against me.

While I was walking in a hurry I saw a black oak door standing with great pride.

These were the doors I saw the first time I entered the castle that led to the outside!

I pushed open the grand doors to reveal a courtyard of lush green grass and beautiful flowers.

There were bushes filled with roses and apple trees that were fresh.

On the far side of the courtyard was a small pond that glistened in the sunlight and a swing attached to a tree.

Whoever had looked after this courtyard certainly made this place look like a work of art.

I could imagine myself staying here for hours just to read a book.

I stepped into the courtyard, walking down the cobbled pathway.

The sun blinded my eyes as I reached my hand to cover my eyes.

It was such an exquisite day outside that I thought about how long I was captured in this place only to see the sun once more.

Insects crawled around while birds sang a sweet song of joy.

Packs of tulips flourished from the ground welcoming me to its home as lilac flowers had still not yet bloomed.

I wanted to come here again to see all the flowers sprout from their nests.

But with the king wanting me to fulfil my duties, I was worried that I would not have the time to do the things I loved anymore.

I searched around the courtyard to find multiple buildings stationed everywhere.

All of them looked the same and I couldn't tell which building I had to enter to find my room.

All I knew was that my building was on the west side and yet the west had been occupied with not one but three buildings on either side.

I regret not asking Azami the directions to this castle.

While I searched for any maps or directions a woman came up to me dressed in gardening clothes.

"If you wanna know where your room is it's over on the west buildings. The first building is the one you need to go to" She eyed me up and down.

hey guys, sorry if I haven't been posting I have been busy with school but I will continue writing!
