CHAPTER 47
"BANG!"
Erza immediately readied herself when she notices a huge explosion not far from where she was standing. She went towards it and she notices a smiling Gajeel walking towards a wounded Natsu.
"Looks like the difference between our dragon elements is becoming clear, Salamander", Gajeel stated. Right now Gajeel's skin has changed to that of steel itself. With a huge grin on his face, he continued talking, "Even if your flaming breath has the power to burn your opponent to ashes. It can't leave a single mark on steel. But my own breath of Iron Blades can slice up your body pretty damn good".
Even with wounds clearly visible, Natsu strengthens his resolve and said, "My flames aren't just flames, you know. Dragon flames can incinerate anything". Suddenly flames began to be released out of Natsu's body and he continued, "If you don't hit me with everything you've got, you're just gonna get smashed to bits, Gajeel. We've got the measure of each other now. Playtime's over".
Gajeel with a smug look on his face, said, "There ain't room for two dragons in this sky. I'll strike you down...Salamander".
"IRON DRAGON CLUB!"
"FIRE DRAGON CLAWS!"
"BANG!"
The clash of two powerful magical spells produces an explosion that resulted in the entire room being engulfed in a dust cloud.
Erza covers his eyes due to the dust. She wanted to help Natsu but she realized that for Natsu, this battle was personal. She decided to watch instead and only help Natsu when he absolutely needs it.
After the dust settled, the figures of both dragon slayers could clearly be seen fighting in close quarters combat. With his steel body advantage, Gageel is clearly having the upper hand in the fight.
'Damn it Natsu. Come on, beat him', Erza thought as she continues to watch on the sidelines.
The longer she continues to watch the longer Erza continued to see Natsu being beaten. She subconsciously requip a sword in her hand, but before she could think about lending a hand, Natsu shouted something at her. "Don't you dare Erza!"
Because of this, Erza held her ground and just tightly held her sword in her hand. She really wanted to do something but Natsu had forbidden her.
'Damn it, why won't you stay down', Gajeel thought to himself. The longer he fought Natsu the more he realized that his stamina was falling behind the fire mage. Natsu was a beast that could take a hell of a beating and he didn't want to lose because of being too tired. He wanted to end this fight caused if he doesn't then there was a chance that Natsu would win in a prolonged battle. He had an advantage and he wanted to take it.
Gajeel then immediately distances himself from Natsu and he took a metal piece from the floor and he ate in front of his enemy.
Natsu seeing what Gageel was doing became mad and shouted, "Why, you little..!!! How come you get to eat?!!"
"hehehe...Life ain't fair Salamander", Gageel said. He then proceeded to gather his magical energy in his stomach and a magical seal then appeared in front of him. "Iron Dragon's Roar!" Natsu who was too depleted to counter with his own roar unfortunately was hit by Gajeel's attack head-on. "AH!!", Natsu said as he was blasted in the other side of the room.
"Natsu!", Erza shouted.
Erza looks at Gageel and she immediately went to her 'Heaven's Wheel Armor'. She wanted to engage Gageel but she heard Natsu's faint voice.
"This is my fight Erza", Natsu said as he stood from where he was laying down. He was incredibly injured and his magical reserves were incredibly low now.
Seeing this, Erza wanted to help Natsu. Then an idea came to her. She immediately requip a new armor; 'Flame Empress Armor'.
"Natsu, catch this", Erza said. With the Flame Empress Armor, Erza is able to produce and manipulate fire with the swing of her sword. She channeled her magic at her sword and produce a flame slash in Natsu's direction.
Natsu was soon engulfed with flame. Seeing the fire in his surroundings, Natsu had a huge grin on his face. He then quickly devoured the flame and said, "Thanks Erza".
After eating every inch of the flame, Natsu had refilled in both stamina and magical reserve. He looks at Gajeel and said, "I'm ending this Gageel".
"Don't you get all cocky just because you ate a little fire! All that did was put us back on equal footing!", Gageel said as he charges towards Natsu. Gageel aimed a punch directly at Natsu's face, but his punch could not land due to Natsu stoping it with the palm of his hand.
With a renewed vigor, Natsu landed multiple punches at Gajeel. Every time Natsu landed a punch, he would say something, "Levi!","Jet!", "Droy!", "The Old Fart!", "Lucy!", "All My Nakama!", "and Fairy Tail!". Gajeel was unable to dodge or deflect any of Natsu's punches. He, unfortunately, became a punching bag to the flame strengthen Salamander.
"BANG!", the last punch was powerful enough to propel the Iron Dragon Slayer on the other side of the wall.
With veins clearly visible in Natsu's forehead, he screams at Gajeel, "HOW DARE YOU LAY YOUR FILTHY HANDS ON THEM WITH THAT STUPID GRIN ON YOUR FACE!"
Natsu began to charges the majority of his magical reserve in the next attack." I'M PAYING YOU BACK ALONG WITH SOME ADDED INTEREST! YOU'RE GONNA WISH YOU NEVER SET FOOT ONTO FAIRY TAIL!"
Gajeel seeing the predicament that he was in also began to charge his magic for his next spell.
"CRIMSON LOTUS: FIRE DRAGON'S FIST!"
"IRON DRAGON'S LANCE: DEMON LOGS!"
"BANG!!!"
The two spells collided with one another resulting in a gigantic magical explosion.
Erza watches in anticipation as she waited to see who was victorious among the two dragon slayers. As the dust settles, a wounded Natsu could be seen standing over an unconscious Gajeel.
He looks at Erza, smiled, and said, "I won!".
