"Okay, I want you guys to pair with each other and write something about your partner," Austin said, writing the first activity of the day on the whiteboard.
He didn't want to put pressure on these students since it's only their first day. Besides, they were all grade one. Just knowing about each other is fine. Kids love to make friends, and making friends at this early age can help them get confidence.
Kielyn immediately turned her back to Lory. "Can we pair?" she asked.
"Of course!" Lory left her seat and joined the little girl on her table. They both have paper and pencil with them.
"Do you want to ask me first or I'm going to ask you first?" Lory asked, beaming eyes as her irises were twinkling.
"Uhm," Kielyn pondered for a second. She didn't know what to ask her. She heard from her parents that sometimes there were things a person was uncomfortable to answer and picking a question was a bit hard.
