There was only one answer to Leonard's question and the three young lords were absolutely clear of the aftermath. They might not understand the feelings completely but it was the same concept as committing a murder on their own father.
Although the chances of Duke Balzac agreeing to that option was zero, in the case that he was forced into the situation, it would leave an incurable scar upon his heart.
So, Leonard Angwin was correct. Either options would lead to their father's demise. The enemy's real target had always been the duke and they were forcing him to the edge while giving him choices as if it was an act of mercy when both would kill him just the same.
What is this if not an insult?
The enemy relished themselves by watching them played right into the enemy's hands, laughing at the sheer stupidity of it.
