A summoner on the making

What's gotten into me? Why did I even accept the offer? Professor Hayden and Giovanni took over the lessons that I'll receive. Every day is so busy for me.

I haven't seen wolfy for weeks. I wonder where he went. Maybe I can summon him if I can master this.

"I am a spatial mage, summoner and spatial mages are alike. Giovanni knows ancient magic, so if the two of us combine on teaching you, you'll master it in no time. Just focus and do your best."

They said that summoners are mages that can open portals and summon spirits that normal mages couldn't do. It is the class that's very hard to learn, to be followed by spirit swordsman.

"Gather your mana and do the basics, like this." Transmitting the energy to mana is hard. My past life doesn't require me to do things like this. Well, I'm in another world after all.

I opened my hand and focused on transmission but I just can't. Healing a scratch is way too hard for me.

Maybe summoning isn't just for me.

"I wish you luck, Lady Anastasia." A familiar voice spoke behind my back. Giovanni and Professor bowed and closed their hands by showing respect to Prince Theodosius.

"Greetings to the future sun of the kingdom."

I bowed and gave my greetings to the prince.

"You don't have to bow anymore, my beautiful fiancee."

Wait- what?

Professor and Giovanni looked at each other and hid their smiles. I get it, maybe this is a show to let them know that the crown princess and crown prince are getting along.

Well, I'm not yet considered as a cr princess because we haven't had the engagement ceremony. I'm still Lady Anastasia. Besides, before I'll be 13, I will find a fake fiancee!

But for now, I have to be a summoner first.

"E-them! we shall teach Lady Anastasia first, your highness." Professor Hayden said.

Isn't it weird? It is weird! We're cousins and I just can't believe it.

I smiled at them and sat at the chair and listened to them as they started the lecture.

"The four main elements are ruled by the great spirits and the salamander, the one you're going to tame is part of it. Besides the four great spirits resides the devil spirit, it is just a myth but having that spirit is in exchange for your soul."

My eyes glimmered in amazement, "Really? I want that one!"

"You can't."

"Yes, all in all, are six. The other one is the king of spirits. Just like the devil spirit, it is also one of the myths, and the only ones who can summon the king of spirits are those who belong to the imperial family, the emperor's household. But till now, no one in there has the power to summon it."

Whew, I don't quite understand it but maybe now a little. All I know is I need to summon that salamander and fight and be victorious.

But really, can I do it with this small body?

"When summoning, you have to draw the magic circle and put some cloud chemical and chant the spells. Don't worry, it's a little bit early for you to summon so you have to learn the basics first."

"But I want to!"

"The chances are low, Lady Anastasia."

The lecture ended and Prince Theodosius bid his farewell, telling me that he will back tomorrow.

It's not like I care but tonight, I will try to summon something. I may be small but geez I am way too old for this small body.

I'll show him that I have high chances of summoning!

Hours quickly passed and night has come. I quickly drew a magic circle and chant the words that professor and Giovanni taught me earlier.

A blinding light has appeared and I closed my eyes. This is it.. maybe it's the Salamander?

"Human.. why did you summon me?"

It made me smile, just by hearing its voice. The moment I opened my eyes is a diamond-shaped twinkling light appeared.

"Uhm, who the hell are you, and what are you anyways?'

"I am the spirit of lightning, Barak."

"I see, go back to the spirit realm. It's not like I wanted to summon you."

I sighed, I guessed my first time is a failure. Nevermind, I still have a lot of days.

"You, human! I may look weak but lemme tell you, I am a B+ spirit!" He bragged, well he sounds like a man so I assumed he is a boy spirit.

"Good for you, Barak."

I don't have any intentions of making a contract with him.

"Just signed a contract with me! you have to, okay? my last master was dead."

"And so?"

"Be my master!"

Maybe it wouldn't hurt to accept him, right? lightning is quite reliable and I can show this off to Giovanni and Professor Hayden. Maybe they can change their minds and sent me off to the academy.

"Fine. I shall be your master."

After signing the contract, I went to bed and saw Wolfy waiting for me. My tiredness went off and I immediately hugged him. He is so cute!

"Where have you been, huh? I missed you." I said while hugging him. I opened my hands and summoned Barak.

"What is it, master?"

Wow, lightning sure is awesome. But I noticed that it's quickly draining my mana. It's hard containing it, maybe I should ask them tomorrow on mana control. I am too weak.

"Go back now, I can't summon you for more than five minutes, my body is frail."

I want to do more things but I can't. I don't have much time and I am so tired.

"Wolfy, I will be sleeping. Sleep with me as you please." I whispered and closed my eyes.
