The first thing he heard was her soft snoring. Jael smiled to himself and walked further into the room. He sat on the bed and touched the side of her face. She stirred but didn't open her eyes.
"You should wake up and eat something," he said.
He lightly touched her lips and then pulled his hand away. Once again, he adjusted the covers that had somehow slipped past her arms to her waist. She was still undressed, and he wondered if he should dress her, but she didn't seem cold or bothered by the lack of clothes, so he dismissed the thought.
"I will return just before the second meal; you should be awake by then," Jael said.
He slowly stood up and walked out of the room. However, when he returned just before the second meal, Mauve was still asleep, and a worried Mill stood by the side of the bed.
"What's going on?" Jael asked as soon as he walked in.
"Sire!" Mill cried and started to rush forward but stopped herself and bowed to him.
