243. Kieran's Formality
"If it is about a letter, I don't want to hear it!"
Mauve jerked at the sound of Jael's voice, she had been intently listening to their conversation and the sudden increase in his voice startled her.
"Do you not care to know how he is fairing?" Kieran asked stubbornly.
"He keeps writing you letters, right? Which means he isn't dead and he can decide to come back. It has been almost half a century and he still hasn't at this point, he is dead to me. There is no point hoping he will ever return."
Kieran jerked slightly at Jael's words. "Jael!" He called out.
Jael leaned back and chuckled. "You haven't called me by my name since my parents' death."
"You don't mean what you just said, do you?" Kieran asked softly, he blinked rapidly.
