“For ages, humans and vampires have been enemies. One is a predator, while the other is prey. With a dynamic such as this, how could they not be at odds? However, there has also been a fascination between them, such that neither side can truly vanquish the other. So? What to do when you can’t live amongst each other, but don’t want to be rid of the other completely? You build barriers, of course. You build walls with gates, and each side regulates who comes and goes. A fragile balance forms and both societies flourish separately but remain connected as a matter of circumstance. This is how our vampire nation, and the human nation came to develop the cautious relationship we have now. Some would call it the happy ending to an impossible dream. However, I would call it abhorrent. Ultimately, you’ll draw your own conclusions.”
