Rain of lightning

[ A/N: Important announcements. Please read author's thoughts at the end of the chapter. Thanks. ]

Song bent his body backwards, avoiding the wild slash aimed to decapitate him. A wave of heat radiated off the blade of the ax, tickling the skin on Song's face.

Song immediately straightened his form and slashed at the Gamundan from close range. His blow would have landed, if not for the fact that the Gamundan's swing was already coming fast at Song from the opposite direction.

It was as if the consecutive swings were part of the same initiating move but Song found that incredulous to conceive. How does one throw an attack that its path goes in opposite directions in quick succession? It was just insane to think of for Song.

And the way the Gamundan swung his ax would make one think the ax would continue on its path due to the momentum from the forceful swing, but no, he always pulls it in for another attack in the strangest of ways. His control was just impeccable. It was almost machine like.

Song quickly summarized his next course of action and decided he would just block the ax with his blade. Well, that was granted he could absorb the impact from the attack, but Song felt that shouldn't be too hard, besides, for the Gamundan to maintain such fine control over his weapon, he has to put in little force to his swings so he can be able to accurately and sharply control it's path.

Song quickly raised his crescent moon blade to block the next attack that came at him, after another incredible maneuver from the Gamundan. Convinced he was not putting all his strength into his swings, Song placed his blade in the ax's path. But Song couldn't have been more wrong.

The force from the attack smashed Song across the field, shocking him silly. Had his blade not taken the brunt of the attack, he probably would have been cleaved in two.

Song's body crashed into a building not too far off. The impact of the crash caused him to be dizzy for a moment as he stared at the ground with a blurry vision. He quickly forced himself up, knowing the Gamundan won't give him a moment to recover. And true to his thoughts, the huge shirtless figure of the Gamundan was already right in front of him, his ax coming down dangerously at Song.

Song couldn't bring himself to dodge or block the attack. He was still a bit stunned from the earlier attack, which had just compounded the injuries he had received that day, coupled with his old age. It was too much for his body to handle, hence making his reflexes dull at that moment.

But such moments were critical and Song could only curse his situation as the ax edged closer to him. Then…

RUMBLE!

A loud roar of thunder clapped in the sky, before a thick bolt of lightning descended on the Gamundan with a

blinding intensity. The light from the lightning forced Song to close his eyes instinctively to protect them from the intense ray. When he opened his eyes after the light subsided he didn't see the Gamundan again.

THUD!

A low thud rang out just in front of Song, catching his attention. He raised his body slightly to see what it was, and the sight sent chills up his spine.

There In front of him, was the lower body of the Gamundan that lay charred just ahead of him. The lightning bolt had decimated the Gamundan's body, ending his life on the spot. What was left of him was his waist downwards that didn't even ooze an ounce of blood.

Song looked at the Gamundan's body, or rather what was left of it with a relieved but tense expression, only one thought in his mind.

'His majesty.'

As he had this thought, low rumbles began to roar in the sky, as if a storm was brewing. Drops of water began to fall from the sky slowly, before they increased in intensity, becoming a full blown storm accompanied by strong gusts of wind strong enough to pull a mighty tree from its roots.

The sudden downpour did nothing to douse the ferocity of the fight going on under the teary sky. In fact it seemed to make something spark within the hearts of the Tasvillers as they roared in loud voices, filled with sorrow and anger, pressing their grievances against their enemies.

As if in response to the emotions of the Tasvillers, the low rumbles in the sky increased in intensity, becoming loud booming roars that thundered across the gray sky.

Ghonn stood jagged, a creepy chill spreading across his body slowly but surely from his arm to his shoulder. His lips quivered as his whole body shuddered, shaking like a leaf in a storm. Each of his breath released a cold steam, as if he were in a cold landscape.

His face was pale with a thin layer of white creeping closer to his eyes. His gaze was focused on the figure ahead of him, the Lenburian that Song had asked him to handle. The man had ended up being more difficult than he had anticipated. But he still held on, his resolve not taking a beat in the slightest.

The Lenburian sneered in mockery at Gohnn, but he didn't utter a word, instead he stretched his hand forward, conjuring a chilling wave of cold that he planned to send at Ghonn.

Ghonn had braced himself, ready to counter the attack he had been subjected to repeatedly, leaving him in the sorry state he was currently in.

But then… similar to the Gamundan Song was fighting, another bolt of lightning struck and hit the Lenburian square on the body. His upper body burst in a mist of blood, sending bits and pieces of flesh flying in different directions. His lower body fell limply to the floor.

Ghonn stared at the body In front of him with a fearful expression. He then looked towards the sky, traces of respect, appreciation and fear evident in his gaze.

Loud sounds of rumbling began to roar in the sky, followed by a heavy downpour that seemed to raise the spirits of the Tasvillers.

In the next moment a loud roar of thunder clapped in the sky, accompanied by a thick bolt of lightning that flashed straight towards the battleground, decimating the body of another invader, then followed by another bolt, then and another, and another until it looked like it was raining lightning, creating a mesmerizing sight of pillars of light descending to the ground under a dim sky, illuminating the world in a deadly light.

The Tasviller forces that were in tough spots and situations were given a breather by a divine light that descened from the sky.

The faces of the invading soldiers twisted in fear and disbelief, as bolts of lightning flashed repeatedly, accurately ending their lives. They watched the unsettling phenomenon with fearful expressions. While the Tasvillers all looked towards the gray sky with reverent expressions, only one thought crossing all their minds simultaneously.

'His majesty.'
