Chapter 8 - Starting work to earn (II)

This feeling had slightly surfaced when he was with her in her office, which then further intensified after she started talking to him about the rock, seriously warning him about the consequences of looking at the eye-arresting, radiant colored glows emitting from it.

Actually, he had caught her staring for long at the captivating, ravishing light coming from the rock and didn't seem to be affected by it in anyway—meaning that she probably had an incredibly strong resistance or total immunity to powerful, irresistibly alluring illusions, or that she was resilient and strong enough to withstand the effects of the illusionary world-immersing light on her mind.

'She is definitely on another level.' Jack said within himself with a deep, thoughtful look carved on his face.

Then quickly, he said with a strongly determined expression taking over his thoughtful but astounded countenance, 'Activate power-level display.'

But he got nothing. Nothing showed up on the screen.

He tried again, "Activate strength-level display."

But it was the same as before, nothing happened.

Then Jack started to try many things, not showing sign of stopping anytime soon.

At the moment, he had said about twenty different things to make the display perform a certain action that he truly needed to confirm the suspicion that blazed like a giant inferno in the recess of his mind.

"Activate power-level scan of all Dotrians," Jack, who persisted with what he was doing until he would get a result, or until he had attempted it over six hundred times before he could even conceive the half-formed idea of stopping and resuming later, suddenly got a response on the screen in his vision.

Not sure if that was the function he truly wanted, he immediately looked at Lisseranda who was only a few feet away from reaching the gate that would enable her to leave the extraction and stone refinement ground.

"Hmm." Jack muttered with a clear eyes.

Understanding what to do next, he said with a bright look etched on his facial features, "Show power-scaling for Dotrians."

Once Jack finished going through the power-scale for Dotrians, he shook his head in unbound, stupendous awe and said with a hugely fascinated heart, "Lisseranda is actually pretty strong. An ordinary hill cleaver-level Dotrian who can actually rent or sunder a hill that is elevated two thousand, seven hundred meters above surrounding terrain?! Damn!"

"So, as she seems like a glib-tongued person on the outside, she actually has currents of great power surging through her being. Simply wonderful. Well, until I am strong enough to contend with her and physically overpower her, I will try not to do anything that will earn me her ire. Her willingness to severely injure or simply exterminate will definitely be on the same level as her scathing and caustic, unchecked loquaciousness. I am certain that her anger, once evoked, will definitely shoot up to the savagely barbaric mark that will make her turn wild and kill off whoever unfortunately earns her fury."

Then with a self-deprecating smile appearing on his lips the next instant, he said with a realization dawning on his mind, "No wonder she sees me as irritably weak. I surely oozed that from afar. But on a serious note, adding my strength level to the Dotrian power scale, will surely take me dozens of levels below the ordinary rock mover-level—since I can only lift around eighty to ninety kilograms. Hahaha. But actually, why do we humans always have the weakest strength when compared to other civilizations that exists out there in the stars?"

"Even in movies, we appear extremely weak and vulnerable. Only with manned or unmanned gigantic fighting robots, or neurally-controlled, massive mechanical warriors can we attempt to leverage a battlefield that has super-strong extraterrestrial warriors fighting on it against us. Ugh. Anyway, I will be the first to break that chain of severe frailness and stringent evolutionary limitation."

Suddenly recalling Algressia, the amazing and incredible battle powerhouse that could dauntlessly take on fierce and vicious monstrous beasts many times the size of a spectacularly tall mountain, Jack couldn't help but shake his head once again in boundless awe and simply go start the work he was assigned to do—before his hourly quota of 200 kilograms of Volberionnyre stone would run out, or Lisseranda might not like the fact that she had actually employed a lazy person.
