Time For The tutorial!

I saw nothing except darkness for a while.

"Character created. Game world loading..."

A voice said. It was hard to comprehend, on one hand it sounded natural, on the other it sounded mysterious.

"Masochist. This isn't for the faint of heart. People depend on you, for your greatest power isn't strength, wit, or intelligence for that matter."

I tried saying, "I'm not a Masochist!" but alas no words came out.

"Will you fall to ruin? Or will you dominate the new world? No matter what you do, death awaits you. So will I. When you progress you will gain new abilities and will be able to converse with me."

Oh so it's gonna be a pain to get the plot uh?

"Things in the world will not make sense. That's the point. Think of it as a GAME. You'll be right at home since you like punishment anyway."

Seriously I don't like pain, I like the challenge! I swear! Then I saw a bright light...

As my view sped along the water at high speeds, the view finally panned up to reveal a island. it seemed pretty small, but it was stacked. Huts on top of huts with bridges and ladders connecting them all together.

This cutscene took me for a full camera shot of this little island, then I saw a figure laying on the sand... oh wait it was me.

I felt my body, it was in the sand below. The camera view immediately began honing in on my body.

Why was I third-person though?

Again I have to think of this like a game... Right.

After the camera settled at a reasonable distance. I was kinda giggling to myself, thinking I could literally sit there, with my eyes closed and surprise people when someone comes close...

No one came of course and nothing was changing so I stood up and opened my eyes and my view changed to first-person.

It was disorienting. Like blinking your eyes and spinning.

So this is my tutorial huh?

Wonder where I should start...

I stood up and walked over to one of the one of the huts and knocked on the door. With no response I opened up the door and found nothing except a bed, a small table with a note, and a chest.

Excited about doing my Legend Of Zelda chest opening expression,

I ran over to the chest and opened it up immediately and saw... a wooden sword.

Dah dah dah DAH!

YOU GOT A WOODEN SWORD.

ENCHANTED WITH A SPELL TO PREVENT BREAKING.

I wasn't expecting very much, but this was awesome!

I picked it up and the sword, and I kid you not the sword disappeared in my hands in a flash of light.

What the heck? Where did it go?

Damn I guess I should have read that stupid note.

Reaching over to the note, it read:

GREETINGS Masochist

TUTORIAL ISLAND IS RUN BY A SET OF BOSSES WHO WILL GIVE YOU THE SKILLSETS YOU NEED IN ORDER TO OVERCOME THE VARIOUS BOSSES YOU WILL ENCOUNTER.

GAMEPLAY INFO:

TO SWITCH PERSPECTIVES CLOSE YOUR EYES AND IMAGINE YOUR PLAYING THIRD- PERSON.

TO SEE YOUR INVENTORY JUST SAY "MENU"

REMEMBER ALWAYS QUIT WHEN IT GETS TOO HARD!

I began to wonder if Spark already finished the other classes reincarnation. Silently sent a prayer to Random Girl A that she reunites with her sister. Right now, the phrase "There's always a way!" seemed like good advice. It filled me with determination... simple as it was.

Anyway I thought menu and my inventory appeared.

This looked a lot like Dead Space...

you know the rig inventory screen?

A holographic screen appeared, and rows of empty boxes appeared except one.

The Wooden Sword.

Clicking on it, gave me the standard: drop it, equip it options. I equipped it.

Then my weapon appeared right in my hand.

This really is a cool game.

Holding my hand out my wooden sword appeared. Excited I tried to take a couple of swings and the weirdest thing happened. I did a huge overhead swing. Like my body forcefully did the most awkward swing I ever seen. I reset and tried to normally just swing my sword... and I did it again. A huge overhead swing.

What the hell was going on? Why was I swinging like a idiot? Who telegraphs an attack this obvious? What if I continue the combo? I swung in the air and my body forcefully stopped.

What the heck... your kidding... I only have a single swing!? What the heck kinda design was this!? I sighed and tried again and this time I thrust the sword instead of the overhead swing.

Well maybe more abilities will mean more combos and stuff? I hope.

Satisfied I dropped the sword and it vanished as soon as I let go and went outside.

After wondering around a little I came across a man with his arms crossed standing in a ring.

Approaching him I was immediately introduced to the most annoying feature of this world.

I was frozen to spot and this man grinned like he was waiting for this moment and said, "W-E-L-C-O-M-E... T-O... T-U-T-O-R-I-A-L... I-S-L-A-N-D!!!" In the slowest most annoying voice ever... I wanted to cry if everyone was like this.

As the despair of how bad this reincarnation was sinking in, he immediately started laughing and said, "I'm kidding, I'm kidding! Welcome to Tutorial island I'm assuming your here to get to the fighting part right?"

"Heck yea! I'm ready!"

"Okay"

That was all he said before he literally teleported behind me and did a upward strike that sent me flying into the air, my health must have dropped to a critical state, because a annoying noise was playing in my head. Thankfully before it got annoying Daniel appeared right next to me and did another slash to my abdomen. Sending me flying outside of the ring.

I flew a good distance before I landed right into the ocean. Water went straight up my nose and I'm glad my shorts were buttoned up, and I had a belt on. Otherwise I would have lost them.

A smile appeared across my face... I love fighting teleporting bosses! As I thought this I quickly wiped the grin off my face. I wasn't a Masochist after all.

Due to the ass whooping that I just received I sort of just floated while the water slowly pushed me back to shore. As I gazed toward the sun the person involved in the said asswhooping appeared before me and said,

"Oh by the way my name is Daniel, pleased to meet you. What's your name?"

A feeling of of bliss washed over me. This was a mountain standing before me. He knocked me out of the ring in two moves without breaking a sweat. I didn't even see his weapon. I was in Heav- I mean Hell.

Daniel extended his hand and offered me hand up.

"Hirro, I'm really looking forward to this!"

I reached for his hand and at the sound of my declaration Daniel quickly extended his hand past my hand grabbed my shirt and with strength that defied all reason, threw me towards the ocean again.

"Is that so? Then as your Tutorial Boss it's time I teach you your first lesson, All bosses have a gimmick, Learn it!"

I then plunged into the water.

This was gonna be awesome.
