Chapter 6:- The Records

Next morning, Dr.Arvik Shah gets up early and is awaiting Dr.Gaurav's arrival.

He gets lost observing the cold misty morning, clear blue sky, partially visible sun sneaking though the mountains, floating shikara boats. He doesn't notice Dr.Gaurav's arrival.

Dr.Gaurav: "Good morning Shah! My friend is already lost in the beauty of Kashmir."

Dr.Shah: "Who won't get lost in this beauty, Gaurav?"

Dr.Gaurav and Dr.Shah take a shikara boat and head toward the main city. They pass through the floating market of Dal Lake. Local people wearing their warm Pheran with kangri were selling fresh vegetables in the floating Shikara.

They get down from the Shikara and reach local market where they have tasty Kashmiri breads like Girda and Bakerkhaani with hot Noon chai.

After the breakfast, they head towards SKIMS medical college.

Dr.Gaurav: "Shah, I went through the adoption papers. It has been mentioned that you were adopted from Jhelum Valley Medical College, as a abandoned child. I will try to find the hospital records."

Dr.Shah: "That would be great Gaurav, we may get some clue."

Both reach the medical college, Dr.Gaurav talks to the higher authorities and takes permission to see the records. After an hour Dr.Gaurav gets a call from Office staff.

Dr.Gaurav: "Shah, don't get anxious but, I'm really sorry. There are no records of 1993."

Dr.Shah in an soft voice: "Its ok Gaurav, its not your fault, why do you apologize? "

Meanwhile a staff nurse comes in to the get signature of Dr.Gaurav on a few case sheets.

All of a sudden, Dr.Gaurav: "How can I forget? Sister, is sister Bareen on duty today?"

Staff nurse: "yes sir, she is on duty"

Dr.Gaurav to Staff nurse: "please inform Sister Bareen to meet me."

Dr.Gaurav eyes are filled with hope,

Dr.Gaurav: "Who needs written records, when we can have live witness? Sister Bareen has been working in the hospital since 1993. Back then we didn't have pediatrics department, so all the pediatrics cases were handled by general medicine department."

Dr.Shah's eyes light up with hope.

Sister Bareen enters the cabin and greets the doctors.

Dr.Gaurav: "Good Afternoon sister, this is my friend Dr.Arvik Shah from Delhi. He wants to ask you something."

Sister Bareen: "Dr.Shah…? son of Dr.Mahandra Shah and Kalpana Shah!"
