021 No Take Backs

The night Fredrick came to her room looking through her things for Lily's agenda, Eden had hidden all documentation that identified her as a citizen of their country Korvania.

She pulled out a folder of document and sighed in relief that everything was still there thanks to the hidden compartment she had stitched into her desk.

"I'm so happy I requested for all my data when I was a child, no doubt he would have tried to take out a huge loan in my name to pay for all this," Eden said. She hid it in a to go bag and shoved it under her bed.

Taking her apartment keys out of her pocket she jingled them happily.

"I'm so ready for a new life, I wonder what I'm going to call my new business," she giggled. Before she could relax however, someone barged into her room, forcing her to sit up.

"Lily what is wrong with you?"

"You took the car today and I missed my date,"

"Couldn't you order a ride?" Eden asked incredulously. "The wonders of technology are there for you,"

"Order a ride? Do I look poor?" Lily said in disgust as if using something like a Kuuber or a Blaze was something only the poor could do.

"With the amount you spend daily? Soon probably," Eden snickered.

Lily blanched at the thought of not being able to live the lifestyle she had known all her life. Suddenly she turned sweet again, pouting like an innocent child who just needed a favor from her elder sister.

"You've been so mean lately, big sis, but I'll forgive you if you become CEO of the company," Lily said batting her eyelashes at Eden who recoiled in disgust.

"No thanks, I saw the bills. Marshall Toys is in deep shit," Eden said.

"Which is why you're going to help right?" Lily said enthusiastically. She flipped her hair in satisfaction.

"Was going to help, it's not my company now is it? That's your job now," Eden said.

"Well, what if I asked dad to give it to you?" Lily asked sounding desperate.

"Too little, too late," Eden said folding her arms. "Both of you had your chance, but you leaped at the opportunity to screw me over. You just couldn't help yourselves and now that the damage is done, you want to take it all back but I won't let you," Eden wagged a finger at her sister.

"Now shoo, I'm tired," Eden said making a shooing motion with her hands.

"You can't be tired, my life is going to fall apart if I have to run the company by myself," Lily whined.

"Then why didn't you let me have it?" Eden asked.

"What? I just offered you that co-"

"No Lily, the night of the retirement party you went to tell dad to give you the company and make you his successor,"

"H-How did you k-know that?" Lily stuttered, she was pretty sure she had been discreet when she approached her father in his study about the topic of the company. How had Eden found out what she had done?

"Because I know you," Eden said, there was anger in her brown eyes but not the explosive rage Lily expected to find. Instead she saw in Eden, a cold calculating gaze that knew what would happen should the company not fall into her hands.

"I'm sorry okay, I thought it would be cool to prank you and it just got out of hand,"

"Prank huh? It's weird how it's been a running gag that everyone's trying to have a laugh at my expense," Eden said, her blood was boiling but she contained her anger.

She remembered how Anna and the girl from the Zenith building had disguised their obvious cruelty as just pranks, or something not to be taken seriously. Well Eden wasn't smiling and now.

She refused to be the punchline to these endless jokes.

"Well are you laughing Lily? You don't seem to be enjoying your prank anymore," Eden said.

Lily swallowed, sweating nervously at Eden's change in demeanor. Gone was the pushover who would only plead weakly for her to stop.

This Eden was absolutely not afraid to teach her a lesson.

"Now get the hell out of my room," Eden said coldly.

----------

Lily exited the room shaken, she thought Eden would have caved by now just as her father promised she would. Eden had only grown in resolve to not manage the company in which case there was nothing Lily could do but try to run it.

Her father would never allow her to sell it, it had been in the family for generations and Lily was smart enough to know no one would buy a company with that many debts to settle.

No one would want to merge with the failing company.

Eden's words played in her head.

"Well are you laughing Lily? You don't seem to be enjoying your prank anymore,"

It wasn't fun anymore and Eden wasn't willing to give up whatever game she was playing.

"It's not my fault, it's not fair! I was only playing, I didn't expect her to take it so seriously," Lily said biting her thumb anxiously.

Would they really lose all their wealth because of what she did?

All because she couldn't let Eden have one thing.

The next day she had to meet the board of directors and tell them her vision for the company, but Lily had come up empty. She had nothing and with no plans all their investors would pull out. No one would give them any more money.

Most of the board stuck around because they had known Frederick since school and they had grown up with Marshall Toys when they were younger.

Pity kept them afloat.

But People like Rose Piper were already looking to pull out of the failing company, especially now that Eden was no long set to run it.

Lily had to think of something, some way to restore the company or get Eden to do it.

She was running out of options fast.
