CHAPTER 16: Twin yin yang bear
Early the next morning, as the sun rose, everyone is already advancing towards the nearest town, called zhiuzi town.
Before they totally left the snowy plane boundary they heard despairing howls and muffled cries of a beast.
Everyone paused in surprised especially big bear. He sniffed in the air and its eyes flashed with a tinge of anger as it roared back loudly scaring everyone on its back except for elder fei.
"Elder fei what's going on?" yu yue asked in puzzlement as elder fei sighed. Big bear then exchanges weak roars with another beast which appeared to be another bear.
"Big bear says there's a bear ahead, it was injured badly by beast hunters and big bear wants to help it" he explained with a frown.
"okay calm down let's check it out" elder fei pats big bear's back as he agreed to help the injured bear.
Big bear was apparently furious because although bear spirit beasts live solitarily they protect and help each other because they are quite rare that's why hunters would go to such length to catch them because they fetch a high price in the market.
As big bear run towards the injured bear's direction everyone followed and they didn't object to it.
As they reached that area they saw a big white bear, but not as big as big bear laying on the ground while whimpering loudly it's body was like a porcupine full of arrows. Its red blood stained its shiny fur as it whimpers everytime the cold wind brush by.
Big bear was furious and stomps its foot in anger and roared furiously as he saw this.
"I think it's pregnant" yu yue said while observing the blood stained bear.
"Hmm big bear also says so, it wants me to help it but I'm not a physician" elder fei said sadly.
Everyone feels angry seeing the state of the bear too, bright moon palace doesn't adhere to such methods of brutally catching spirit beasts to contract them. They would catch their beast but they never harmed them unnecessarily like this.
Hearing this yu Yue's eyes also flashed. She's now having a taste of this world's cruelty.
"let me give it a try, I know should be able to do something, I learn a lot from from physician de" yu yue said after organizing her thoughts.
Everyone tried to move closer but the injured bear snarled at them warily. Big bear consoled it that it's okay and they would help her.
The bear didn't make a move but it still watched them warily.
Yu yue went beside it's belly and smiled at it warmly. "It's okay I can help you to save your babies but it would hurt a lot because I'm going to cut your stomach open to get them out and you might not be able to survive after this" she explained gently as she feed it some pain relieving pills.
Everyone was stunned, did she jut say babies? So it's not just one. And she's going to cut its belly?
Although they were speechless and in a daze because this doesn't sound like saving it but instead killing it, however no one dares to say a thing, they could tell too that there's no other way.
The mother bear nodded without hesitation, she knows with her injuries she doesn't have long to live. What matters to her is to save her babies sooner, she doesn't care about her own life anymore.
Yu yue sort her own breathing because she's angry at the hunters and on her own incapability. If she's an alchemist she might be able to refine a pill that could save this mother bear too. Although ye baihe gifted her some pills as well as yuxue'ers pills she won't be able to use it on spirit beasts.
She soon started cutting the mother bear's belly and nobody can bear to watch the process because it's too painful for them to watched. Some of the few disciples even teared and paled at the sight.
They too want a spirit beast but not to treat them like this. This reminds them of their lives before they came to bright moon palace.
Yu yue vowed that she would obtain the white ice fire and become an alchemist.
Not long after they saw a pair of ying yang bear.
The little bears are as big as a human baby. The black one crawled toward it's own mother and rub it's nose on the mother bear's face. The white one was sleeping weakly on yu yues arm.
Yu yu hold it and let the mother bear lick it lovingly on her arms.
The mother bear just watched her babies lovingly until she gently closes her eyes.
Not long after giving birth she died. The disciples wipe their tears. Yu yue was also teary at the scene.
The little black bear stumbled towards its mom whimpering sadly, it used its paws to nudged its mother's head and it frantically howls when it's mother didn't responded anymore.
