The System Won't Work Unless I Have Girlfriends

“Yeah, no one could convince me, even in a hundred years, that I would date someone, not even if she were Kar*******.” [To start the system, please find a suitable partner you like] This floating screen has been popping up for years now! “No, I refuse. Tell whoever sent you to fuck off. I don’t need any external help to be great.” [...Are you sure a bout that?] Eh? This is the first time the system has responded like this. It reminds me of how I’ve struggled without relying on this so-called system. Should I really try it now? --- patreon.com/Livice

Chapter 40

Here's a look at how I imagine Masamune. The artwork isn't mine. I found it on pinterest, I describe him and his original has blue eyes too, but overall it really captures how I envision him.

Wearing my uniform, it feels tight after bulking up. However, I don't intend to buy a new one since this is my last year before high school.

"Mom, we're off to school."

"Alright~ take care~"

Leaving the house, we head to the station and take the train from Shibuya to Minato. After that, we walk to Shuchi'in Junior High School.

With spring break now over, students are back to reality, returning to school.

Spring break ending means they're moving up a grade. Some students come early to see which classroom they're assigned to, while others are eager to see new faces—the freshmen just starting junior high school.

However, I'm not one of those students. The only reason I came early today was to accompany my sister, Chinatsu, as she'll be giving the freshman representative speech at the first school assembly.

"Hey, Masamune-kun. If the students from school looking at you like endanger species, there's only one reason."

"What?"

Chinatsu who walking beside me while carrying her bag smile a little.

"You've been attending this school since the first year, but you've skipped so much that they think you're just a transfer student. Haha, is this some kind of major character development arc or something?"

I sigh, "Don't judge me. It's really hard to keep up my dualism while running a business and a student at the same time. Beside, the school allow me to do that as long as I take the exam and minimum attendance, right?"

"Tch, somehow I felt like you're just bragging about it. You've some terrible personality huh? That's not my point though, I think, Onii-chan can have a real girlfriend now."

"Like it or not. I'm just telling you the truth."

After that we arrive at the school and went to the billboard. After sometimes, both of me and Chinatsu found our classroom. She's on the 1A meanwhile 3B is my classroom.

"What is your class, Masamune-kun?"

"3B."

"I see~ Then, I'll visit you sometimes."

Seeing my sister smirk, she must be planning something.

Turning my head, I found my self, a two girl with pink hair looking at the billboard.

"Ah, Masamune-kun. There's my friend from Elementary school. I'll greet her so come with me."

"Coincidentally, there's my friend too."

Walking to the pink head, it seems Chinatsu's friend is my friend's relative.

"Moeha, did you find your class?"

"Hm? Ah, Chinatsu! So you continue in Shuchi'in again? That's cool! My classroom is 1A."

"Really? Than we become classmate again," Chinatsu glance to her right, "Chika-nee, how are you?"

"I'm good Chinatsu~ I'll leave Moeha in your care again, kay? But, psst! who is he? Don't tell, your boyfriend?"

You fool. I could hear that whisper clearly.

"Don't you remember me, Chika?"

"E-eh? Ahaha… Come again? Have we met before?"

"We were in the same class in our first year, right?"

"Eh? Erm…" Chika looks at me but then momentarily glances away, as if she's trying to figure out, Who the heck is this guy? This whole situation feels like I'm a scammer claiming to know her. "…Who are you again?" she asks, then laughs awkwardly.

I sigh, " I'm Masamune."

"I see, I see! Hahaha! You're Masamune-kun—Hold up! THAT'S A LIE! Th-that loner, otaku is you? You kidding me?!"

"Can you stop calling me otaku? Here..." I put my square glasses that I've used two years ago, "Ring a bell now?"

"NO. WAY. It's really Masamune-kun!"

"It's me. I also cut my hair short now."

"Hair isn't the problem! You look like an entirely different person, you know! Wait, let me see... um—found it. Look! This is supposed to be you, right?"

Chika flip her phone as I saw the picture where she take a selfie of me and her in ramen shop. There was Chika smile at the camera and me from two years ago, slurping the ramen with broth squirting to my glass and make my it foggy.

This bitch taken this picture when I focused eating. Just I expected from politician's daughter, she's a sly type.

Chinatsu giggles elegantly, though she's probably laughing her head off inside. "This was Masamune-kun before he changed, right? How old is this photo, Chika-nee? I mean, it's totally him. Hmm… could you send me this picture?"

"Sure. But, you believe me right, Chinatsu? I take this picture when we both still freshmen. Like how he's grown that fast is impossible."

These girls didn't even ask my permission if I was okay with that.

I sigh, "Stop making that face. It's really me."

"Wait. Just a minute. I've to process this reality for a moment and this might be require a lot calories...."

Even with me here in front of her. She didn't hesitated to say rude things with innocent face. The only good point of her that she got beautiful face and mature body.

"How does this even make sense?! We lost touch after we stopped being in the same class. I actually thought you had transferred to another school because you missed so many classes. If you hadn't, Masamune-kun, you would have just blended in like before. You used to wear glasses, but you weren't particularly smart. I don't think I ever saw you in the top fifty on any exam. And none of the girls around me ever talked about you, since, honestly, you weren't very attractive before."

"Okay, stop talking shit about me. Anyway, what class are you in?"

"Right. Um, 3B. Yours?"

I chuckled, "So, we're at the same class again." Turning my head, "Your sister?"

"Um... she's the third one, my little sister, Moeha."

"Hello, Se-senpai! My name is Fujiwara Moeha. Please take care of me from now on." She introduce herself with slight blush on her cheeks.

[Would you like to see your potential partner rating?]

Shut up and let me enjoy my school day alright.

"Nice to meet you, Moeha. My name is, Makabe Masamune," I hum a little, "You look smarter than Chika. Anyway, thank you for getting along with Chinatsu."

"Y-yes!"

"Hey, what do you mean I look dumb?! You meanie. Hmmph! Anyway... Chinatsu, so who's this guy to you?"

"She's my s—"

"Masamune-kun is my cousin. When I heard he's attending Shuchi'in, I was thinking to continue here a since we've know each other since a little." Once again, Chinatsu giggle gorgeously.

I see what you're doing there. How is she lying with that elegant smile. Is this what my father teach her?

"Really? I see... but it's my first time hearing this. Well, you never tell us before."

Chika said as Chinatsu only giggle as her responded. I sigh. My sister has custom to lying.

Shortly after we parted since the first year and third year classroom located in different floor.

After put our bag in the classroom. We head back for entrance ceremony.

With Chika beside me, we walked into the school gymnasium and found our seat in the third-year section, waiting for the assembly to begin. Ever since I entered the school gate, I had been receiving lingering glances from the girls and female teachers.

It was then that Chika asked me.

"Now, that I remember you're saying that you will go to gym every time I ask you to eat ramen with me. Hey, wanna go again?"

"Sure, if I've a free time."

"Masamune-kun sure arrogant huh..." she pout, "Anyway, I hope you stay out from my Moeha okay?"

"Huh? Who said I was interested with your lil sis?"

"I figured I'd give you a heads-up since she's cute. But just so you know, everyone in my family—except me—is a bit… odd. You'll find out what Moeha's really like, and trust me, you'll regret it. And don't get me started on my big sis. She got into Tokyo U last year, but ugh... just be careful when she's had a few drinks."

She keeps saying that she's the only normal person in her family, completely forgetting how weird she is.

[Would you like to see your potential partner rating?]

Oh come on.

---

As the ceremony comes to an end, all students return to their respective classes. Chika and I enter the classroom together, while my classmates stare at us down to the last detail.

To be precise, I have the attention of all the girls in the classroom. At first, the boys were also looking at me, but they soon got distracted by Chika. I don't need to elaborate on where exactly their gaze is fixed. If you know, then you're not gay.

As I recall, there's no official seat arrangement. It seems there's no written rule about it; therefore, whoever secures a seat on the first day of the semester keeps it.

My seat is currently by the window at the back corner of the class, and Chika's seat is on my right. I think this will be helpful if I ever forget my textbook.

[Would you like to see your potential partner rating?]

Oh, let's not forgot the system that will pop out when I meet women.

After getting a taste of the system, I felt like I was inside a real-life game. To put it simply, to benefit from the system, I have to date a girl and please her in a way that allows me to extract all the benefits I can get.

In short, it's both lame and addictive.

The system uses an indicator to show how satisfied my partner is in the relationship with me in general. Every person has their own level of satisfaction. Thankfully, the system doesn't suggest anything ridiculous like needing to sexually engage with the women I date. Maybe, if I continue, I'll find myself in situations where I have to do that to please them.

Wait, does that make it sound like... a man-whore?

"The student at the corner, please stand up and introduce yourself. Wait, are you a transfer student?"

Currently, the first homeroom begun minutes ago. With the teacher just called me before, all eyes on me once again.

"No, sir. I'm here since I was a freshmen. I am Makabe Masamune. Thank you."

With half asses introduction, I sat back to my seat really fast like boomerang. Chika looking at me as if saying something like 'What was that? Oh come on, you could do better' is what her face trying to say.

On the other hand, I expect some backlash reaction from my classmate however.

"So, he's not transfer student?"

"Then why we didn't noticed someone as hot as him?"

"So, that's his name..."

"Does he have a girlfriend?"

"Earlier, he's so funny, right?"

"Should we say hi later?"

The girls seems alright"

But, the boys have opposite reaction.

"Tch. I don't like Riaju."

"He's courting death."

Come to think of it, I never had friend like Charles after come back to Japan. The only male friends I've now has average age above 30 which is group of old man who had kids the same age as me.

---

After that, homeroom is over. Suddenly, I see Chika walk over to my desk.

"Hehehe, it's finally over, right?"

I nod. "Yup..."

Today, there are no classes except homeroom. Therefore, all students can either go back home or stay to socialize at school. Of course, most of them think it's a good time for that. However, it's a great opportunity for me since I can go to the gym before heading back to work.

"Anyway, I'm really happy that the three of us can be in the same class again!~~~"

"The three of us?"

I suddenly turn my head. The door slides open, and the classroom, which still has a lot of people in it, becomes silent. A girl with long black hair, a face as cold as ice, and those infamous red eyes enters the classroom and walks toward us.

Oh shit. I forgot we're in the same class again.

"Ah~ Kaguya-san. Are you finished with Sensei?" Chika asks.

"Yes..." Kaguya replies indifferently. She then glances at me. A flicker of curiosity crosses her face as she glances at me, her brows knitting together in thought. She tilts her head slightly, studying me coldly. "Hm... have we met before?" she asks, her gaze lingering for a moment longer, searching my eyes for familiarity.

Well, I don't have any obligation to answer it.

"Who knows..." I reply in the same sleepy manner as her.

Chika then cheerfully claps her hands. "Ahhh~ of course you both must have met before. Haven't we all been in the same school since freshman year? But it's understandable that Kaguya-san wouldn't remember this guy over here."

That was unnecessary. But I decide it's not worth debating.
