An Unexpected Visitor

After their objective was settled, Ethan and Chen Xue were ready to return to Odeus Base. In the Starport, Dean Museveni personally saw them off.

Ethan exchanged pleasantries with the Dean before turning to board 'Ares'.

Three days later, Ares returned to No.27 Medium-sized Orbit Starport of the 1st Mixed Fleet. Right after disembarking the ship, Lin Fan saw an unexpected visitor, Gregory Rothschild.

'Strange, why is he here?' he thought as his face darkened.

The Rothschild Family is a big family comparable to the Rochester. The difference is that the Rochester Family's influence is in politics, while the Rothschild Family's influence is in the Military.

Gregory Rothschild is the son of the current Patriarch's elder brother and the brother of Viktor Rothschild who betrayed and abandoned his teammates during an ambush two years ago.

After this incident, the Rothschild used its influence in the military to try and suppress and shut Ethan up, but they were warned by Grand Vizier Mike and Dean Museveni before they could do it.

That's why they didn't dare to play any tricks and had to stop what they were planning.

Greg saluted as he walked close to Ethan. "Long time no see!"

"En, long time no see, why are you here at the Ninety-Fifth Fleet Base?" Ethan responded.

"I'm here to experience the frontline"

"Oh!, so you are here in the front line for experience?" Ethan replied expressionlessly

"Yes, I also specifically applied to Major General Chen to join your fleet. This is the transfer order". He handed over the transfer order to Ethan.

Ethan received the transfer order and took a look. She indeed signed it personally.

"There is no problem with the transfer order, welcome to the 1st Mixed Fleet!"

"Yes thank you, Commander!" Gregory stood in a standard military posture and saluted Ethan.

After exchanging formalities with Greg for a bit, he left.

However, what Ethan didn't know was that when he left, Gregory's expression turned sinister.

Gregory held a peculiar communication device in his hands. The small, metallic object resembled an intricate earpiece, yet it emitted a soft, ethereal glow, pulsating with otherworldly energy.

Gregory carefully placed the device in his ear. A jolt of energy surged through him, causing a momentary dizziness. As the sensation subsided, he found himself standing in a virtual realm, surrounded by an iridescent landscape that seemed to shift and change with each passing second.

A holographic figure materialized before him—a towering, majestic humanoid alien being with a presence that commanded respect and authority. It was the Commander in Chief of the Third Legion of their Imperial Guard of the Vortan army. His eyes glowed with an intensity that spoke of centuries of wisdom.

"Greetings, Earthling," the Vortan commander spoke in a deep, resonating voice that seemed to vibrate through Gregory's entire being. "I am Fisk, Commander in Chief of the third Legion of the Imperial Guard of the Vortan army".

"This is Gregory Rothschild. I have already sneaked into the base of 1st Mixed Fleet as planned."

"Very well, remember that your first mission is to rescue the Fifth Prince, and the second mission is to assassinate Ethan Kane, are you clear?"

"Yes, Commander Fisk."

"Alright, as long as you complete this mission, I would submit a recommendation to make you an honorary citizen of the Vortans. In the future, when we annex the milky way, I will make you the governor of Earth."

"Yes, thank you, Commander, I will complete the mission!"

"Well, that's it!"

Ending the connection with the Vortans Commander which doesn't take up to two minutes, he left the docking area with an evil smile

Meanwhile, in the Rear Admiral's office, Ethan sat down on the couch in the office lounge tapping on the communication device to summon his adjutant.

Summoning his adjutant, Chen Xue, Ethan's face bore the lines of concern. "Xue'er, I need you to keep a close eye on Gregory Rothschild. The Rothschild family has always wielded influence, and I can't shake the feeling that his transfer may not be entirely coincidental."

Chen Xue's eyes narrowed with understanding. She had been with Ethan long enough to recognize the gravity of his request. "Understood, sir. I'll discreetly monitor his activities and report back to you if I notice anything suspicious."

Ethan nodded appreciatively. "Good. I don't want to jump to conclusions, but I've learned the hard way not to dismiss my instincts. There's more to this situation than meets the eye."

As the days passed, Chen Xue kept a vigilant watch on Gregory. She observed him during training exercises, noted his interactions with fellow crew members, and discreetly reviewed his personal history. But despite her efforts, nothing overtly incriminating surfaced. Gregory appeared to be a diligent officer, committed to his duties.

Still, doubts lingered in the back of Ethan's mind. He knew the Rothschild family's legacy extended beyond mere wealth and military influence. They had a history of intricate maneuvers and clandestine operations, often serving their agenda under the guise of serving the greater good.

Two months passed in a flash, and it is now the 71st year of the Federal Calendar.

In the past two months, the busiest part of the entire Ninety Fifth Fleet is the research team led by Chief Engineer Jon. Currently, many top-secret projects are proceeding in an orderly manner.

First, the upgraded warp engine. Now, the success of nuclear fusion energy which basically solves the problem of energy shield.

Standing in front of a protective glass wall devastating the research lab and the viewing platform, Ethan and Admiral Collins were discussing the latest developments in the base when Ethan decided to voice his concern.

"I am worried about the Rothschild family, and their actions have been weird recently!"

"Hmm… the Rothschilds? I also received some news recently. They seem to have arranged for a lot of people to come to the Ninety-Fifth Fleet. They look like they are going to do something!"

"I think so too, that's why Chen Xue and I specially arranged a group of people to monitor those who entered the Ninety-Fifth Fleet from that family, but nothing has been discovered in the past few months."

"I hope that we are just overthinking!"

"I hope so!"
