Chapter 11: And Then She Screamed

Eliza's POV: It's only been a few hours since Harper died. I'm still emotional, but I've stopped crying. So long as no one brings it up! Michael's crying hasn't stopped, but Zack only seems upset. He was never very fond of Harper anyway. Oliver, however, has been a disaster. He's been hold up in his room bawling his eyes out. I still can't believe what he said to her as she was dying, I wonder if she heard it? Oliver told Harper that he loves her, and as those words flew from his lips the life faded from her! We got her a casket and layed her in it to bury her in a few days. Everyone's been on edge, trying to figure out what Oliver's going to do next. We don't know whether he'll keep calm, retaliate against whomever is left of the gang that killed Harper, or turn his humanity off! No matter what happens we'll all be scared. I went to go see Harper in her casket again. I've only left her side a few times so far. Michael couldn't bare to look at her, and Zack didn't bother. I got there and examined her body for awhile. Then I grabbed her hand and said, "Harper, if you can hear me, I want you to know that we'll bring you back! We'll find a way I promise, and Oliver will too! He's a wreck without you, you know! I wish you could see it, it's quite rare to see Oliver crying. If only it was under better circumstances. I wish I could've been there to save you. You've been such a friend to me and I hate that my family and I had dragged you into our messed up lives with our messed up enemies! You have no idea how sorry I am about this...but I love you, always! You've began to feel like part of our family, you laughed with us, you put up with our drama and told us about yours. And most of all... you trusted us, which is more than I can say about everyone else in the world! I don't know how long it'll be until we get you back, but we'll be as fast as we can!" I leaned down to kiss Harpers hands and noticed her fingertip was normal skin colored. "Or maybe it'll be sooner than we thought!" I said to myself. I ran upstairs and barged into Oliver's room and said, "Come downstairs, now!" He rushed downstairs with me and I showed him Harpers finger. He was as puzzled as I was. "MICHAEL! GET IN HERE AND BRING YOUR WITCH!" Oliver shouted to the other room. In seconds Michael appeared with his witch at his side. I explained what was going on to Michael, "I was checking on Harper when I noticed something off about her hand. I examined it and saw that her finger wasn't covered in veins as the rest of her body is. It looked...normal! What do you make of it?" Michael seemed confused, but his witch said, "Well, I can do a blood test on her heart combined with some magic, it'll tell me everything I need to know about what's happening to her. I just need a needle, some salt, and a page from Elenor's spell book!" Michael asked, "What do you need our mothers spell book for?" The witch answered, "It contains an old spell, almost like your modern day DNA test, but it incorporates dark magic. Telling us exactly what's going on with Harpers body!" We all agreed to get her all the ingredients. I got mother's spell book, and Michael got the salt and a needle with a syringe while Oliver waited to figure out what's happening. The witch formed a circle around Harper with the salt. Then she asked for us to remove Harpers shirt so she could lay the salt on her chest, forming a cross out of salt. Finally, she opened my mother's spell book and filled the syringe with blood from Harpers heart. She began the spell and used a piece of paper with the words, "Witch. Werewolf. Vampire." Written on them. And another paper saying, "Dead. Alive." On them. Half the syringe of blood was placed beneath all three of the words on the first paper, and the rest on the second. Once the spell was complete it would tell us if Harper was really dead, and just to make sure it works the first piece of paper will tell us she's a vampire, obviously. We just want to be cautious so we don't get our hopes up about her being alive or not. The spell started...nothing happened. Once the witch finished her spell I asked, "Why isn't anything happening?" She replied calmly, "We have to give it time. It could take a few more minutes, or hours. There's no telling how long these actually take, you just have to be patient and wait until the blood starts moving!" Oliver, clearly in a mood, said, "Well I don't have patience! Make it go faster!" "I can't, you can only wait it out!" The witch said back. Oliver stormed off back into his room meanwhile Michael and I said we'd wait by the blood and alert everyone else when we found something!

10 Hours Later-

Michael and I have been up all night waiting for the blood to move, but there's been nothing. It's already 7 AM! I looked at Harper and said, "Why is she still half naked!" I quickly buttoned up her shirt back up and checked her hand for any progress. To my surprise there was plenty! The skin had moved from her finger to halfway up her hand, I checked the rest of her as well, and it was the same on her other hand! I think she's alive! But I won't say anything until the blood starts moving. A few more minutes passed and I saw the blood on the first piece of paper start making a trail to the word 'Vampire' so I yelled, "EVERYONE COME DOWN HERE NOW!" Oliver was the first to arrive and asked, "Has there been anything?" I nodded my head quickly and pointed to the paper. The trail has stopped at the word vampire! It works! We checked the second one and it was making one straight line, very quickly I might add! In only seconds it drove towards the word marked, "Alive." Oliver stared in shock, I smiled as well as Michael. We all walked over to Harper and saw that her hands were now completely normal, alone with nearly her whole leg and half of her arms! She's healing! But how? She was staked! I was about to ask Veronica (the witch) what she thought of the matter, but she blurted out, "Uhm, guys...You need to see this, right now!" We all rushed over to Veronica, she was pointing at the first paper. There was a second line forming from the pile of blood, it was spelling something out with Harpers blood! In a few seconds the letters were clear...'MONSTER' was spelled out on the page! We all stared at it in confusion, we wandered back over to Harper to see if anything had changed. The veins had now returned fully to her body. We were all in total confusion as to what was going on! Only a short amount of time passed, we were all still surrounding Harpers body discussing what that word could mean in this situation, but then we heard something. A fast, monstrous heartbeat! In a matter of seconds Harper shot upwards in terror. And then she screamed...
