The violence isn't too central to the point of the chapter so just a heads up, and you'll definitely want to read at least the part after it :)

"Nanotechnology combined with your genius is honestly a marvel," Kara beamed proudly, watching in awe as the nanoparticles of her super suit slithered away back into the plastic frame of her glasses, revealing her grey pyjama t-shirt and sleep shorts decorated with unicorns underneath. The early morning sun shone from where she had entered through her window after a Supergirl emergency, bathing her skin with its warmth, her cells radiating with an excited energy.
"Yes, of course, love," Lena replied, voice low and coated with sleep as she raised a hand to shield herself from the rays of bright light, dark hair contrasting starkly with the white pillowcase. "Now come back to bed, I miss my personal space heater."
Who was Kara to deny such a request? She grinned and slipped under the covers, letting Lena's head rest on her chest as her arm wrapped securely around her body, ears automatically tuning in to the most comforting sound she knew. The other woman's heartbeat thudded calmly in her chest, evidence of her dozing back off to sleep again. With every beat, Kara felt her own body go leaden, the constant sound filling her veins with gentle and soothing waves.
It was another hour before they woke again, the alarm clock wailing incessantly at them to wake up (and it took so much of Kara's restraint not to crush the thing under her palm just to have five more minutes being cuddled up to the woman she loved (Lena would probably be pissed she'd have to replace it. Again)).
Using the lightest touch as possible, Kara clicked the button to turn it off, the device only letting out a slight creak rather than crinkling like tin foil — which was what had happened last time. She breathed out a sigh of relief and let her arm flop back down onto the bed.
"We should get up," Lena's voice was murmured into her neck, moving her body closer.
Kara just hummed, hand idly stroking her fingers through her dark hair. "You say that while snuggling even further into me like a koala," she pointed out, earning a huff from Lena.
"If anyone is the koala in this relationship, it's you." Lena rolled to move on top of her, raising an eyebrow as she straddled her hips, bringing Kara's hands up to rest on the soft skin of her thighs. "Although, you do give off more golden retriever vibes." She paused before adding, "Am I using that word right? Nia's been trying to teach me internet words and I am beyond confused."
Kara let out a soft laugh at her girlfriend's cute, bewildered expression and she patted her leg. "I think you are, yeah."
She felt Lena's fingers ghost along her collarbone, sending shivers through Kara's body. Pushing up onto her elbows, she smiled as Lena leaned down and gave her a tender kiss.
"And then she taught me what 'thirsty' meant, and to my surprise, it did not mean needing to drink." Lena ran a hand through her hair, face scrunched up in thought. "Now I know why Sam kept calling me that before I started dating you."
"Well, if it's any consolation, Alex just called me a lovesick loser when I had a crush on you," Kara remembered fondly.
The Kryptonian didn't even remember any day where she wasn't some form of in love with Lena Luthor. Even from their first meeting, she was immediately intrigued by the youngest Luthor who had sworn she was nothing like her family and that she wanted to use L-Corp as a force for good.
Even in the early days where they weren't even friends yet and Kara had bumped into Lena sitting alone at Noonan's surrounded by paperwork and coffee, she had felt drawn to her, like there was this invisible magnetic pull between them. Last time they had spoken, her icy exterior and guardedness had told Kara she didn't come to National City to make friends. But Kara being Kara, she tried and the pure rush of glee she felt when Lena had called her name in that Irish lilt and said,
Even when it was about two months into their friendship and Lena was wine drunk at one of their movie nights, she only felt her heart ache and the need to hold her even tighter when Lena opened up about her upbringing with a cold Lillian Luthor and being in the shadow of her older brother. It only gave Kara even more reason to keep Lena in her life and show her the love and affection the dark-haired woman had been deprived of her entire life. It was one of the first times she saw a crack in her thick walls that she had kept up since Lena had put them up at the age of four.
Even now, with Lena's laugh melodically echoing through the spacious penthouse after they had finally decided to get out of bed to go to work, she could feel her falling deeper and deeper in love with her. Every lingering look, every flutter of her stomach, every small but meaningful gesture had only tied both of their hearts together, the thread delicately looping around two already-scarred muscles that remained beating strong and sure despite all that the universe had thrown at them.
"What are you thinking about?" Lena's voice drew her out of her daydream haze and she met her green eyes with a smile, accepting the mug Lena handed to her.
"How much I love you." Kara sipped at her sweetened coffee, relishing in the boost she was already feeling from both the caffeine and the sugar. She lifted her mug and wiggled her eyebrows, "But with the limits of the English language, I cannot espresso the full extent of my love for you, Lena Luthor."
Kara watched in delight as Lena barked out a laugh and smacked her arm, lips curling into a grin. "Kara, did you get that off Google?"
"A lady does not reveal her secrets," Kara leaned in and whispered, "but I think you're brew-tiful." When she stepped back, she could make out a gentle blush creeping up Lena's neck.
"Kara, I can't believe your awful coffee puns are actually making feel like this," Lena ducked her head in what Kara knew was the other woman being shy and flustered, a far cry from her cunning and calculating CEO front. Even though they had been together for almost three years, Kara could never get tired of seeing this side of Lena — longing looks and amused smiles only reserved for her, and her only. The butterflies of her stomach had never vacated, making their home right in there and flapping their wings every single time Lena so much as looked at her.
(Rao, she was so far gone, but Kara loved every second of it.)
Placing down her mug, she took Lena's one out her hands, putting it next to her own on the counter. Kara gently cupped Lena's face, tilting it up a little to look at her. She kissed her softly, thumb grazing the sharpness of her jaw and tasting the slight bitterness of the coffee on her tongue before pulling back, armed with one last pun.
"I just think we're the perfect blend," Kara added.
Lena gasped and laughed again, and Rao, if Kara could make that sound her ring tone, she would. The world deserved to hear Lena's genuine and unrestrained happiness.
"I love you, Kara Zor-El."
"I love you, Lena Luthor."
"We should probably get to work," Lena said slowly, making no move to remove herself from the half-embrace they had found themselves in.
