Chapter Three

The bullies numbered about 7, I could tell they were bullies because from the very moment they entered the cafeteria to their current position, they either smacked people's heads or take out a treat from a random person's food plate.

I could see some people cower in fear or hastily adjust to let them pass. Nobody wanted to put up a protest for the fear of being beaten into pulp.

Now, they had already neared our table, that is, where I and Billy sat. The guy in front, probably their leader spoke in a pathetic heavy Spanish accent.

"Pendejo, you sitting on our table. Get your ass outta here."

Billy's eyes met mine, we made a silent agreement and slowly stood up, taking our snacks with us, not until the j*rk stomped his heavy palm on my shoulder, pulling me back.

Sudden anger flared up inside me, but I had it in check before it even erupted to the surface. I then turned my body slowly to face him.

"Can I help you, homms?" I asked in low tone, barely controlling the rage that threatened to envelop me.

"Drop 'em snacks." Was all he spat out. I lowered my gaze from his face to the snack in my hand. I chuckled a little before meeting his gaze again.

"You mean this? Are you that hungry? I thought you walked pass the food stand over there." I pointed at the food and snack counter behind him, not too far from here.

From his facial expression, I instantly knew what I said had pricked his pride. To cut it short, I instantly perceived that nobody has ever defied him in this school.

"You..." The bully hissed through gritted teeth. His eyes, already gleaming with hate and anger.

I watched his behaviour closely, I felt the need to tease him the more, forgetting completely the dire consequences of my actions, well... at that point in time, and I didn't care though.

For a long time, we glared at each other, not until I felt Billy tug at my shirt.

"We have to get out of here. You guys are gaining attention. A teacher can come in anytime." His eyes dancing back and forth nervously.

I spat and threw one more glare at the bully before leaving the cafeteria, together with Billy. Numerous eyes trailed on us till we exited the door. Along the way, Billy ran his mouth, probably out of excitement.

"Mehn... You didn't even bat an eye. You were so f*cking brave, Matt. Next time, punch him in the face."

"You were the same person tugging at my shirt to leave at first, now you are cheering me. If it is easy, then do it."

I grinned at my own remarks, but in my head I was thinking what the outcome will be, maybe after school, those jerks will surely beat the living stars out of me. I came to an inward agreement that I must run home just after the school bell goes.

"Matt, matt..." Billy smacked my shoulder so hard that I had to stagger before stabilizing my stance. "You are spacing out. What's wrong?"

"Nothing." I replied, holding my slightly bruised shoulder. Before Billy could question me again, I spoke out immediately.

"We should head to the class. History right?"

"Yeah. History." Billy answered with a slightly raised brow. I knew he was uncomfortable at my reply but he chose to keep quiet, which I was grateful for.

Soon, we reached our class and entered quietly.
